I have moved cattle, strung fence and put out hay for the cows and done my share of shoveling dung and had I dressed like some of these pictures I would have been laughed off the ranch.

I knew a REAL cowgirl/woman in South Texas who rounded up cattle with her husband. Can't remember her first name, but I remember her last name. It was MaSparrow. She wore jeans, nice western shirts with snap buttons and long salt and pepper hair. Her smile could light up a room. And sweet, too. I loaded feed for her whenever she came into the general store where I worked as a kid in Jourdanton, Texas. What a true lady she was!!

For the select-few that make the squad the owners hire a Drill Sargeant to come and work them. @96mojo no it's not. Do you have any idea how hard it is to become a DCC? They have to work their whole lives practicing, making sure that they are in good shape. For the select-few that make the squad the owners hire a Drill Sargeant to come and work them. They keep going all day, their bodies completely covered in nothing but sweat and about exausted as could possibly be. I wouldn't be surrprised if the Cheerleaders actually work far harder than actual Cowgirls would

The girls down on the feild dancing and cheering don't think that they're cowgirls, just cheerleaders. While a good friend of mine wrote "Wide Open Spaces" and really put the DCs on the map no one around here like them because of their stupid remarks about Bush, Natalie Maines is from Lubbock (1 1/2 hours south of me) and is only welcome there because that's where her Daddy lives.
