@SubzeroGER I sounds like a layer from an image you closed was still selected. Make sure you click on the layer you want to apply the filter to.

@mel2000 You can write scripts that run the filters with customizable options. But you can't record steps. Just search for How to write Gimp scripts on Google. :)

Alright, I have tried this over and over and it's getting the best of me. I've made sure to follow all of the steps, but when I try to use the plastic wrap, it makes the gradient white at the top and blue-ish purple-ish at the bottom. What am I doing wrong?

@ManicallyEgregious Sounds like you are applying it to the background instead of the text layer. Make sure to select the text layer.

Which folder do you download the gradient to? When you put it in the gradient folder, it doesn't work

@ToontownSoul C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\­gradients you have to restart Gimp for it to show up.

@ToontownSoul a zip is a compressed folder, you need to open it with either the built-in zip opener of a program like 7zip. The gradient is inside the zip. then just extract it to the gradient folder.

@funkymonkey979 Add an alpha channel to the second background layer, right-click on the text, choose 'alpha to selection', select the 2nd layer, hit Ctrl-I to invert the selection, and hit the delete key. then go to Select, None.

@IFriedYou The Plasti-Wrap script and gradient are not stand-alone files, you have to install them in the Gimp directory. Search for "how to install scripts in gimp" and "how to install gimp gradients"

Sometimes IE will open up scripts in a window. There will be a big long list of code and numbers and stuff. If that's the case right-click on the link and choose Save Target As. It will save it as a scm file and just put that in the scripts folder.

If you are using Firefox then click on the link and it will ask if you want to save or open the file. Save it to C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\­gradients. In Internet Explorer right-click and there is an option to save link as or something like that. When it comes up asking where to save the file go to the folder above and at the end of the file name add .ggr
