She's more of a fusion dancer. I wouldn't categorize her as a bellydancer. She has a lot of screen presence on film, but performing live is a whole other story. She does more jazz, modern dance, with some oriental movements. She's ok, but focusses to hard on being sexy and alluring. She doesn't follow the Egyptian or Turkish rhythms when she dances, which is why she often seems scattered. Check out Samia Gamal and Saida of Argentina, and see if you notice what I mean.

We think she is a terrible bellydancer, she is known as "the goat faced sharmuta" and she jumps too much, runs around, not enough feeling the music, understanding, techinique for the real style of the dance, she ruins it and dances like cheap stripper that had like two classes for bellydance. Not good.

jumps too much? runs around? What kind of bellydance are you talking about? There are numerous styles of bellydance, all of which can easily be an example of what Amira dances. Turkish, for example, often uses large turns, jumps, little shimmies...Tribal Fusion took on a martial art stance and icorporated it into the dance....who is to say that becuase Amira "jumps too much" she is suddenly a bellydancer with a bad technique?

There are different styles of bellydance, and it's up to the dancer to learn whichever style they choose in depth. If she chose to immerse herself fully into really learning rhythms, and the various dance styles for certain music like saidi, baladi, she would be a better dancer. I'm not saying this out of hate, trust me.

I acknowledge that she has talent, but she obviously chose the easy way out, by expoiting her beauty and sexuality. This is very obvious to anyone who knows bellydance, whether they are classical egyptian oriented, cabaret style, Turkish style, Tribal, etc. TRy watching Ranya, Azza, Samia Gamal, Bozenka, Saida, Soheir Zaki, Nagwa fouad, Samara of Lebanon, and Neon.

most ppl who hire her in nyc havent got a clue about "authentic" arab dance. that is why. i fully agree with imegna that she s acting for too sexually in her dance, and that she s not "gettin" the rhythm at all. once she sdoin something nice she screws it by throwing her hair or jumping brazilian style or both..

I understand what you're saying. She's ok in her videos, but then when you see her live, you notice how hyper she is. That's what makes her off beat, in my opinion. I've met her a few times, and she's more of a business woman than anything.

Amira Mor is so much fun, and an amazing bellydancer. EthnicArts.... Im sorry, but I am also a bellydancer and I dont notice anything wrong with Amiras technique. She is more like a stripper? I dont know many strippers who dance as tastefully as she does.

Amira Mor is a horrible bellydancer. This sharmuta is all over the place in her disorganized dance, has no class and is more like a stripper than a real bellydance artist. She embarrases our culture.
