I have several hawks including the Trail hawk, love 'em.I agree that the hawk is a worthy addition to a tool set for bush carry. My preferred three tool set is my BK-2, a custom Canadian belt knife and a trail hawk.Expanded to a 4 tool set I add my CS SMIII trail master.
if your buddy's name is mike stam, he may be one of my cousins. my name is david stam and i was just curious about it, haha.
pm me if ya want and ill give ya more info to ask him to see if he is or not, because it would be neat to get in contact with my extended family if he is related, haha.
Tomahawks are good if your good at aiming and throwing or melee. But, if you not good at throwing and aiming or just aiming in particular i woudlnt recomened it.

Does anyone know anything about the SOG Fusion Tommy? I like the portability of the one shown in this video but this Fusion has more functions and its not that much more expensive.
@MegaPokerMon I own the SOG F0-1T full size hawk. The blade comes razor sharp and is a great hawk for the price.I have used mine camping and it chops very well.I use back spike for digging and demolition work.If you want compact,I suggest the smaller Fast Hawk, but if u dont mind weight issue, the Tactical Tomahawk is a good choice.
I like your video. I carried a tomahawk, when I was in the United States Infantry. But, I disagree with you about one thing. You said that tomahawks are very cheap. Tomahawks can be really expensive depending on who makes them. The American Tomahawk Company CQC-T Emerson Design is $290.00 and the Comanche Hawk is $375.00.
@1bornsurvivor I get mine for around 20 bucks a piece, they work every bit as well at the 200-400 dollar ones. they may not hold an edge as long but for the price difference who cares.
@shilohtv i understand you can get a cheaper 'hawk and put it through its paces and enjoy the heck out of it.....and they can and will do what you ask of them. The Cold steel Tomahawks are a great deal and pretty dang tough. I've seen a lot of guys buy them and then put their own homemade shaft on and be very happy.
That being said there are a few companies offering higher end tomahawks with a huge quality difference. A $30 Cold steel will not compete with a $400 RMJ
@258legolas Unfortunately, I cannot make them. I wish that I had the necessary skill set and the equipment/tools to make a good quality tomahawk myself. That would be fantastic! I would make one for all of my buddies and close family members this year for birthday gifts.
@shilohtv which of the weapons you showed have you used for hunting at least once. e.g have you really killed small or medium game with a slingshot or spear?
@LaRueDeeko Yes, and the distal end is even narrower than the part you hold on to causing the axe head to fly off when you swing it and kill all of your friends. Steer clear of this stuff, the Indians are still trying to screw the white man.
Good video, short informative,to the point.Thanks.I just purchased one because of this video.I actually used and kept a hatchet in my gear when I served in the us army for my eight year hitch. It came in handy alot.It was a issue hatchet hammer combo.I still have it today. The new one I bought is a cold steel tomahawk version.Cant wait to try it.
The tomahawk is still a very useful instrument. See my videos for more info. The tomahawk is possibly one of the most useful tools in my opinion. I use one every day at home for making kindly for the wood stove, use one hunting, use one when backpacking or for extended stay trips in the bush. Get a hand forged one though from a good blacksmith, and one with more blade length.
i paid around $400 for my shrike from RMJtacticle.

The head comes off? Isn't that potentially dangerous?
LaRueDeeko 1 year ago
@LaRueDeeko No the handle is tapered and it comes off the thinner end at the bottom of the handle
