  • who's the bassist?

  • very good

  • Que baterista virtuoso y sutil!

  • esse baixista toca demais nussa

  • @gretschjazzer People like you are the reason they mock us in other countries...

  • I highly recommend the version of Guthrie Govan and his band ''The Fellowship''. It's definitely not that this is bad, but that version has some special gradient feeling I love. Also, very talented musicians playing there. Check it out: /watch?v=RQCJ-1LPpgk

  • SOMEONE CAN TELL ME WHAT IS THE NAME THIS MUSIC?

  • @pipo20am

name of the song: the chicken, composer Alfred James Ellis.

  • @quidsummiser oh,, thanks

  • man why are we comparing generes, they are amazing rock drummers and are amazing a their craft just like dave weckl and other great fusion jazz drummers are amazing at what they do

  • These guys suck every last ounce of soul out of this great tune. A bunch of practice-room musicians, the only thing worse than this abysmal rendition of The Chicken is all the cutesy glances they keep making at each other. They're so pleased with all their fusion licks, each one slicker than the last. They don't get it. Never did. Never will.

  • @gretschjazzer what is it that they "don't get'?

  • Dave Weckl, Tom Kennedy, and Buzz Feiten should make an instrumental jazz band :)

  • Comment removed

  • it is tom kennedy

  • Travis Barker and Joey Jordison are so much better than Dave Weckl!!! because...well...wait... maybe they're not...

    :)

  • @alibabaolfat dumb!

  • Tom Kennedy on bass I think

  • thats a nice sounding snare

  • VISIT MY CHANNEL...I HAVE GOOD VIDEOS OF ME PLAYING DRUMS...

  • @mac27678 man i feel you Weckl is a beast one of my favorite drummers ever but that bass player GEEEZZZ crazy! he stole the show but they wher all jammin perfect pocket perfect timing just excellant..

  • fucking tight

  • I know this is weird saying on a video focusing on Dave Weckl.

I love Dave Weckl by the way.

But what is the bass players name??

  • The whole song jams, but I especially love that "drum wake-up" starting at the 3:00 mark!

  • being musician gives you one good thing - even if you listen to rock and metal, you still can listen to this music for hours and really enjoy it

  • Lol, yes, Scott is so amazing...but don't get me wrong Tom Kennedy's playing is freakin' top notch too. :-)

  • sick,fu-k pop music

  • Bass player is Tom Kennedy. He has a nice and impressive technique but I dont like the dumpened sound he gets as the result of playing so fast. I prefer the sound of Scott Ambush, for example...maybe Scott is not as fast but the sound Scott gets is simply amazing.

  • @Fustware You're right ! Scott Ambush is more amazing!

  • @Fustware You're right! Scott Ambush is more amazing

  • @Fustware

Les Claypool is the best bassman in the entire universe !!! Tom kennedy aint got shit on him !

  • Yeah these guys have heaps of PotenCIAL?? hahaha... Yeah musos that can't spell!

But seriously i saw WECKL years ago at the basement in Sydney... Mind Blowing....

  • Compare The Rev Or Joey to that drumming.

  • Weckl is amazing of course, but oh my...I'm really diggin' the bass.

  • @JamesBannerBass is it Tom Kennedy

  • Who's the bass player?

  • @JamesBannerBass John Patitucci

  • @drummdude716 It's not John Patitucci lol

  • @JamesBannerBass The bass player's Tom Kennedy.

  • I try and give comments on all Weckl videos ...

    Dave Weckl is the best!

  • as this song is called?

  • @biugy The Chicken

  • excelente!!

  • TAKE THAT SHIT MAINSTREAM MUSIC.

  • I rate a drummer by how much of his kit he uses. If he only uses the snare, base high hat and cymbol he's wasted a lot of money and can't be trusted. Dave Weckl, being a freak with five arms and three legs, could actually stand a few more pieces for his kit (if you watch closely you can see he was preparing an omelet in the last thirteen measures of the song).

  • @BifMcAwesome Ehhhh don't judge a drummer by how much of the kit they use haha... There are some monsters with small drum kits (BUDDY RICH). However Dave is still, of course, a lord of drumming

  • @ParallaxDrums - That was the point - some drummer are "collectors" but the good ones make good of the stuff they have, whether it's many pieces or a few. The best ones make you wonder "how did they do that" and "what did they do that with"? And they do it in hexadecimal compound time.

  • @BifMcAwesome Oh sorry haha., I misunderstood you then. But yeah that is the magic of the drums

  • раскошный драммер

  • AMONG THE BEST

  • @DzagielAreq I dont think he means to put metal down, I personally love it. But I can say for a fact, that Dave Weckl and Joey aren't even comparable.

  • mui bueno me encanta este tipo de musica

  • well saying @dwdrumslove i totally agree with u

  • Sick bassline!

  • TOM KEEnedy, BOSKI, i Wszyscy:)

  • when the bass and drums come back together....watch weckl's face!!! priceless!!

  • The bassist is Tom Kennedy.

  • I am a huge Dave Weckl fan, but wow - who is the bassist?

  • That side snare sounds soooo siiick.

  • muito show se tivesse desbloqueado.

  • I dont think any music with drumming like this could be considered shit

  • fa bene alle orecchie, troppo rumore in giro

  • NickaLeo95 : sei un grande.

  • If Jaco were alive today, I wonder what he'd say to that!

  • ウザい英会話の宣伝はいりません

  • The most highly evolved Chicken

  • lol

  • I met Weckl once. It struck me how sincere, kind, and patient he was. We all know he's a great drummer, but he's just as kind! That's very cool!

  • I met him at the Blue Note in NY and fully agree. He's got a lot of humility, kindness and class to go with those skills.

  • i love Dave Weckl skills XD

  • \/ the same question

  • tom kennedy

  • Loved the bassist, what's his name?

  • Tom Kennedy

  • Thank you!

  • tom kennedy

  • Discussing wether Tomas Lang is better than Dave weckl or not?

Well, listen to me -- Dave has feeling, technique, and a he is a great musician. His thinking perfectionism in all modes when doing his stuff.

Thomas Lang has technique, twirling, double b, that´s it!!

You judge by that - OK?

  • Damn!

  • thomas lang = not number one...

    reason #1 not old enough

    reason #2 he's just not

reason#3 every great drummer is good in his/her own way, there is no # 1

  • reason#4 has no feel whatsoever and just wants to show off his massive amount of technique and stick twirling skills

  • Comment removed

  • @MichaelG1V It takes a degree of understanding this kind of so called "feel". When you understand different musical aspects u begin to enjoy it, instead of judging. i understand ur point totally but.. Just saying :)

  • Comment removed

  • Este hombre dbería dedicarse a tocar la Batería. jjjjjjj

  • Great drum track but not enough Bass

  • Dude, the Bass comping was the best part of the video and you cut it!!!

  • ...uuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidemooooooooooo!!!

  • man! what an ending! terrific!

  • I love that Jaco Pastorius bass sound.

  • Tom Kennedy rippin it on an ampeg amp and a fodera bass.

  • one of the best drummers in the world.

and also the best beat to play to.

    funk!

  • its not the best drummer in the world hes amazing but i seen better thomas lang is #1 in the world

  • Thomas Lang is a very good drummer. Is he better than Dave well thats debatable. I prefer Dave over Thomas but that just me. Has Thomas Lang every played in group or is he just a stick twirling soloist? A serious question. I like to see him playing with a group.

  • Weckl is the man!!!

For me, He's one of the most musical drummer of the universe...

My big first influence on drums.

    Nbdrums

  • i agree with you on that dude..have you seen North Sea Jazz Festival 2003 where Chick Corea's Elektric Band playing "Got a match?" live?!! i bet thomas lang cant play that precise...Weckl was just godly..Lang is a pretty good drummer thu but i still pick Weckl over lang..!

  • Lang is a showoff drummer, Weckl is a musical drummer...

2 completely diferent drummers. That's not correct to compare them.

Drumming is about music... not a race!!!

  • i don't want to diss thomas' skills, but i'd rather listen to weckl anyday. weckl DOES wow me with technique - but he also kicks my ass with his immense musicality while he's doing it.

anyway...great clip. enjoyed the bassist as well as dave :)

  • does lang play in a band anyway? i got some songs made by him..they came with his book..and the music sounds like shit :D

  • i know he did a load of session work on some pretty famous pop records. but i do believe you about that music being shit :D

  • I like the drums; this a very cool video.

    Thank you for sharing

    LOVE & Peace

  • esse we

    si toca cabrones

esa tecnica no cualquiera y el matiz y todo ese we nacio para el jazz

  • sic! tell those joey jordison fans that this is music. these guys know how to groove! they have technique, potencial and speed. the timing is perfect!

  • @dwdrumslove don't be ignorant, theese guys are some of the most talented musicians around, i recognize Dave Weckl as the best drummer ever. I'd prefer Jordison any day. Why? I don't bloody know, I just do. I can't help it, that's just the way I am. More Joey fans should look into other great, and some better, drummers, I don't fight you there. but don't bash other people cus they like something you don't, that's almost the same concept as racism

  • 1:46...magnific bass

  • wow these guys really know how to groove

  • god damn do those men have pocket

  • @musicman9897 That's what playing the song (The Chicken) every night will do for you.

  • tasty

  • funkay chicken!

  • aewswome band

  • the whole reason people see jazz as a genre for drummers and bassists is because it offers more musical freedom to every instrument. With rock and pop the rhythm section is ussualy restrained to play what the leader of the band wants.

  • have been searching for words like these! thx.

  • what about prog rock? ;)

  • Just the same

  • guys who knows the effects for this bass.. pm me tnx

  • What effects? I didn't notice any at all. Just the pure sound of the jazz bass. Looks like he's using Bartolini pick ups if that helps. Most of the tone comes from his technique. Great bassist.

  • Buzz Feiten has a new album just out ( in Japan so far ) with Brandon Fields guesting . Its absolutely wonderful .. Buzz is as stunning as ever .. its a pure treat . Pls tell all your music loving friends to go out and get it . Buzz deserves our support .. his talent is unique and he is too oft overlooked .

  • holy shit. the drummer and bassist are amazing!

  • dave weckl is soo grove!

  • Ever noticed how rock and metal are all about the guitarist and singer, while prog and jazz are all about the drummer and bassist?

If only we could get a super-humanoid jazz-rock-prog band, now that would be AMAZING!

  • Jazz is definitely not about the drummer... its about whoever is improvising. Unless that person improvising is the drums

  • No, in most jazz, pretty much everyone is improvising to some degree, but what I'm saying is that in jazz, the drummer and bassist seem to get more time to actually garner attention than constantly being upstaged in metal and rock.

  • Ohh... i was confused the way you worded it earlier. I agree.

  • Very true. This is probably because in Jazz, nearly every measure of drumming is a fill or other "solo-like" form of playing. As for the bassist, he has three functions: The rhythm, the harmony, and sometimes the melody. This makes the bass a very important and integral aspect of a jazz arrangement, as the instrument that holds everything together.

  • Dude, that band was called Rush.

  • was about to say the same thing

  • The video was edited by the taper...more than obvious if you've ever heard the song. Tom always builds a terrific bass solo and this was spliced near the end. I've got at least 40 live DWB perfomances, many including this song and the band just doesn't do shortened versions of anything...if anything they're longer because of solos.

  • I just didn´t like the bass solo...

too many notes for my taste.

  • awsome bass

  • he got the grooooove, yeah DWdrums :D

  • dave weckl and judge dred = same person

  • Dave Weckl and Sig Hansen = same person? You be the judge

  • LOL

  • 太棒了!!

  • man that bass solo is a bunch of wankery!

  • I dont like 1.42 - 1.46. Whoever sent this video should have shown all of it. Otherwise, AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dave is my favourite drummer, and he did an amazing take on the origanal version which was really, really rubbish.

  • que versatilidad para tocar, muche tecnica y precision en los golpes

  • its tom kenedy and he is been playing with dave for 20 years

  • no, the bassist is tom kennedy, the guy below you is right

  • whatever dave sees and hears in his mind it goes right to his hands when you can do this, you are on top of the world.

  • You are so right, his thoughts flow like water to his hands and feet...beautiful! Very inspirational.

  • gotta love 2:00 and on.. ghost notes

  • hihats in an awkward position, you can tell in 00:18 and other parts..

  • You might think that at first, but I think it's just a part of a grove. He kinda ment to play that way.

  • its a preference..

  • He is definetely one of the best drummers ever....

  • Hey, have you people heard the other version of Chicken by Dave? This version of chicken has a slow tempo..But still nice though..His style of playing still amazes me..hehe

  • still faster than most versions

  • who's the bassist?

  • Tom Kennedy (with a nice Fodera Bass).

  • The bassist is John Patitucci

  • no its not its john kennedy

  • No it's not it's Tom Kennedy.

  • oh yeah,

    still.......

  • ...still, Dave has played with Pattituci for years and Tom Kennedy looks and sounds a lot like him.

  • ...you can't imagine two more different bass players than Tom and John. They are light years apart and yet both of them are fantastic musicians/bass players. But once again: as musicians they are like + and - and both great!

  • this is my all time favorite version of the chicken... can't get enough of weckl's great setups and fills

  • o my god the bass tone is orgasmic and so is the solo

  • wow did this in jazz band actually 2 years ago at my HS, what a song and greatly done by Dave Weckl and his awesome band!

  • Dave Weckl's the best!!!!!!!!!!

  • man, this is jazz!

  • how is the name of this consert?

  • I've always been a fan of Dave Weckl and this is def. one of my fav. songs. Of course, like always, Dave Weckl and his band are always amazing no doubt. My only wish is that i could see them in concert and actually meet them.

  • dave weckl band. no comment! great-super-fantastic! ;-)
