You just took the gray metal piece that was on top of the disc drive off then cut it and painted it right? The disc will stay in as long as you keep the middle part attached right?
so damn fine cuts i wish i can do that like most people my dremal cuts are crap...i spend hours sanding and fileing to make smooth and nice ......idk if i can make curve cuts im trying to find video of that :( well cool xbox!
Just remove the top casing of the DVD drive, mark it up with a sharpie and cut with a dremmel. Pretty simple. Just make sure to leave the circle intact as it holds the disc in place and tape the spindle up before cutting because it's magnetic and the metal scraps will stick to it. make sure it's completely clean before putting it back together.

@thexgh0st So, all you must do to mod the dvd drive casing, is simply take it apart (with metal/magnetic circle still in it) and just cut
