The Zelgadis from the original series would never act like this. The writers of Revolution and Evolution-R flanderized the characters and story. The real Zel would get offended and seriously angry, or maybe even just sad and ashamed, but he would never run off crying like a fool. He's too proud to do that.

Let me ask you this - have you ever seen Vegeta act in such a way that a "too proud" person would not act? He wore a pink shirt and got laughed at, but Vegeta didn't blast them away or severely injure them.

Is it so wrong for anti-heroes to surprise us every now and again? Is Zelgadis singing karaoke also something he would be too proud to do?

@Puggalug There's a big difference between singing karaoke/wearing a pink shirt and running away crying at a rather minor offense: you would think that he would be used to such reactions. Let's not kid ourselves: he would definitely have had to deal with being pointed at and mocked by others due to his appearance. After all these years, why would a misunderstanding (rude though it is) cause him to completely break down? Why hasn't he broken down in past instances like this?

All I'll say is---the guy was willing to dress in drag(twice!) and dressed as a bunny just to gain the Claire Bible. It has been a known staple of Slayers comedy that given Zel's serious and straightforward personality, he is the most exploited when it comes to humourous situations. That hasn't changed since NEXT and I don't see why Kanzaka and Watanabe would change that tradition. Besides, it's only ONE friggin scene (a comedic one, no less) where he acts this drastically OOC.

The main reason why I put this up on my channel is because it is unusual for Zelgadis to act like this. When anti-heroes show this kind of behavior, it's funny! But to make a general statement as to say "i mean hes not like that" is kinda making assumptions. This is no different to when Vegeta of Dragon Ball Z acts out of the ordinary - it's funny and unpredicted, but not out of the realm of possibility.

Yeah, Funimation announced back in July that they rounded up the core dub cast to return for Revolution. You can go to Wikipedia to see the link for yourself or go on Anime News Network.

There's even a few videos on Youtube with Crispin Freeman stating that he was going to be in Revolutions in last year's Comic Con.

The only one who couldn't return is David Moo, who has sadly retired from animation. Michael Sinterniklaas will be taking on the role of Xellos.
