  • This was one of the first games I ever went to, that place went nuts after that. One of my favorite memories.

  • This is actually really cool to watch for me because currently, he lives in my town and I know him. He has a daughter who plays basketball just as good as 7th graders. His niece is one of the best basketball players to play for us.

  • And he went on to be a amazing comedian and to star in the show Taxi???

Just kidding.... Jesus saves people.... God gives the Living Water to those who ask, read and finish the New Testament... we must WANT a new SPIRIT... instead of our own... and God will give Heaven within to all who read, fast and ask with persistence.

  • awesome! thought I'd never get to see this replay. I'm thinking about sending this link to my hawkeye friend.

  • Andy Kaufmann was not "held back ' by injuries. He was ruined by Lou Henson. What other coach would bench a player after minutes in a game where THAT game would set a record for illinois for consecutive scoring in double figures which Lou did because he didn't like Andy's offensive minded game, a mindset that was needed then for he was the ONLY option for scoring on the team.

  • wow he didnt get that off in time

  • @LegendaryTerrorist32 what are you talkin about? he got that shot off easily before the clock ran out

  • @Zaxxon2008 he really didnt

  • @LegendaryTerrorist32 you can see pretty clearly at the end of this vid, when they show it in slow motion... the ball is out of his hands & airborn when the clock runs out

best pause i could do was at 0.2 sec, then again at 0.0 its gone

  • If you pause right when Kaufman releases the ball, the clock reads .1. I have looked at this on quite a few separate occasions. He got it off in time.

  • thats amaing. wow. and to think that he was the one in the huddle to suggest the play during the t.o. must be a great coach too! I think that he has a pretty good AYBT team that he coaches..... all around amazing hard-working athlete

  • I was at this game, secion B row 1. Brenda, Joel, and Sammy stormed the court.... for some inexplicable reason I stayed back - will never understand why I didn't storm the court. Of the 100 or so games I went to none of them were a better finish than this one! Absolutely amazing! Thanks for posting.....

  • I was at the Assembly hall when this game was played. Dad kept telling me, "They'll get it to Kaufman, but he doesn'l have time to take a dribble. He'll have to just jump and shoot." When Kaufman dribbled, we winced, and then our jaws dropped when he made the shot. The Illini crowd just seemed to draw one huge breath and suck all the oxygen out of the Assembly hall, and when he made it, there was the biggest explosion of joy a young kid had ever seen. This is one of my most cherished memories.

  • WAS HE FROM THE TARD SCHOOL IN J'VILLE?

  • WHAT A WORTHLESS POS

  • you are right, a lot of people across the country talk about the Illinois/Iowa rivalry as one of the big ones! bzzzzzzzzt ok maybe not

  • You can talk Cubs/Cardinals, Bears and Packers, OSU and Mich yada yada but when Illinois beats Iowa....priceless!!! GO ILLINI baybee!!! Thx 4 posting this!!!

  • Sorry about the thumbs down, was going for a thumbs up. GO ILLINI!!!!

  • Beating Iowa never gets old.

  • what year was this?

  • The year was 1993. I grew up in Champaign and then went to the University of Iowa and was in an Iowa City dorm. It was an interesting night!!!

  • I was raised in Jacksonville, and met Andy several times.. who knows whatever happened to him, he was a great player, but injuries, and being book-stupid messed up his career...its too bad he had the injuries and didn't have the book smarts of his brother, because he was such a great player. I hope he played somewhere after college.

  • I was also raised in Jacksonville. Andy is a great guy and his brothers are too. Andy should have been playing pro ball with his skills.

  • That Laettner buzzer-beater ain't got NOTHIN on this! :D

  • Kaufmann is one of the top 10 players ever in Illinois high school basketball. I witnessed it first hand for four years. He put up 40-50 points on teams without breaking a sweat. As pure a shooter as there ever was. Should have went to the next level but injuries held him back.

  • i went to school with rene clemens, i saw the game, and andy kauffman did that to our high school when he was at jacksonville

  • This did really happen. He happens to be my cousin and even though I wasn't at that game, I do have a copy of the news from that night with it in the sports clips.

  • It really happenend..i listened to the whole game on the radio.

  • What are you talking about? This is the real deal, and one of my favorite moments from this era of Illini basketball.

  • I'll vouch...this game really happened. Saw it w/ my own two eyes on live tv.

  • I was there best game i've ever seen

  • Where's the Elvis impersonation??? Really though, great shot!
