The day was totally UN-BE-LIEV-ABLE! They nearly blew the rafters off venerable old Santa Anita! Incredibly, the accolades from the crowd sounded even louder than those following her magnificent win in the B.C. Classic! It was wonderful to hear the fans shouting out their thanks and good wishes to J.S. and the Mosses in the saddling barn and paddock. The R.A. race was run while Zenyatta was being saddled, and Steve ran to where J.S. was standing watching Zennie with a double thumbs-up!

As if written by the hand of a poet, let me tell you this day could not have been more perfect.... 2 wins by The Sherriffs "Happy-Happy Barn" (my new nickname for your barn) if it did not sound like I was gloating I would bring up the highway robbery of HOY and how at 4 the GREAT Z was winning ALL her races with NO excuses...ooops... Zenyatta schooled this afternoon at Santa Anita. If I hadn't been out-of-breath from rushing down three flights of stairs and an escalator, I would have been rendered breathless just at the sight of her. Dappled and gleaming, she looked as beautiful as one could imagine. Alert, inquisite and proud, she would pause occasionally in her walkabout to strike the most perfect pose for the appreciaitve fans who had gathered to see her. She doesn't seem to breathe the same air as other horses. JOY!

ODE TO ALE AND ALOE When Zennie spies her stout, she really goes all-out. She paws the ground and blows. John Shirreffs is all aglow, as he serves to her the aloe, which makes her warm and mellow. Little sister is also included, in this ritual which leaves one deluded, that their greatness is due to booze and green goo. NOT! It comes from Above, and is guided with love by J.S. and all of his staff (and you can bet there is nary a gaff).

The woman in the stall with Zenyatta looks like a masseuse or possibly a horse chiropractor, she's working on Z's back....very cool! Never saw a horse drink beer, you'd think it would tickle her nose too much but not the great Z, she likes just about anything!

I am beginning to suspect that the reason Mr. Shirreffs runs such a "happy" barn is not entirely due to the great help! Lots of cheer being freely passed around here! Zenyatta looks incredible. If she were any more beautiful, it would explode one's heart just to look at her. What a gift! She is getting cranked---she has that special glint in her eye!
