  • this is why i hate watching courier play, his backhand is just so ugly

  • For a top pro, Courier had ugly strokes, but damn were they effective and did he make his opponents earn it!! LOL

  • how did you manage to convert a vhs to avi?

  • @planetX15 i have a dvd recorder.i hook up the vcr to the dvd recorder using the standard yellow, red and white cables.then record it to dvd.then pop the dvd in my pc and convert the dvd to avi using a dvd converter.then upload it on youtube.simple.

  • @planetX15 with his ass

  • Courier serve looks terrible

  • I´m sure there are others like me who like to watch the whole thing. :((

  • Where´s the next DAMN VIDEO?????. It ´s ridiculous to post videos without posting the end of it. Shit!

  • @ezayi i do that on purpose because i'm tired of people only watching the end of my videos.

  • Courier had the weirdest backhand I have ever seen lol

  • Nevertheless I don't understand why Agassi was in such a fear of Becker. His results against Becker were excellent. I know only one important and decisive match which Becker was able to win, a Wimbledon semi final, otherwise I can only remember victory for Agassi in important matches.

  • The late 80,s to around year 2000 was a golden era in men's tennis. First class baseliners - Agassi, Courier, Muster, Chang, Bruguera, Kuerten, Kafelnikov. First class serve volleyers - Sampras, Edberg, Becker, Stich, Rafter, Krajicek, Ivanisavec. And the 'supporting cast' weren't too shabby - Rios, Martin, Pioline, Corretja. All of these players were top ten ranked (at least) during this period. Much more depth, talent and variety than the cardboard cut outs who make up most of todays top 20.

  • You can see the match agassi versus chang, that agassi wouldn't won the match. He wasn't concentrated and only thinking about the match versus the german big guy Boris Becker. I suppose that Agassi could won the match in the final. Becker had won all matches versus chang, but he had a negative result versus agassi and becker had felt out of engine, because he had a lot of 5 set matches during the AO. I remember the final.

  • @kokser29 If you read his book, Andre explains why he lost the match to Chang. He hated Becker and just couldn't be bothered going through another angst filled match against him, he decided to lose the Chang match on that day because of this. Becker said a lot of mean things about Andre. I'm not idolising Andre but he was certainly a better person IMO, than Becker.

  • @temp850 I am from Germany and I am a big fan from Boris Becker. I was very proud that he won the match versus Chang and so the Australian Open. Agassi wrote in his book that he hated Becker, but definitely Agassi was afraid versus Becker. Agassi wrote also in his book the big german with the red hair and the big legs. On the tennis court they are Gladiator it is war on the court. Agassi is a shy person and Becker is very confident. Why is Andre a better person than Becker? Tell me.

  • @kokser29

He wrote "IMO". Although I am from Germany too and in a certain way thankful that Becker broought the tennis fever to Germany, he was also for me one player with the worst character in the tour. I never saw his climbing to the top when many of the people not only in Germany became Becker fans. I saw him only at the top, when he was arrogant and respectless for his opponents in my opinion. Agassi was not the only case.

  • @temp850 i'm not buying that since agassi almost always beat becker in grand slam matches.

  • True - But if you read Agassis book it also says he basically didnt even feel like turning up at AO that year , and more or less was tanking .

Cant remember if it was the drugs or post Brooke thing , but he wasnt happy , if I remember too this was sort of the prelude to his drop out the top 100 before of course his infamous return

  • this idiot mentions how muscle helped agassi.yet agassi lost in the next round to michael chang in the semifinals of this same tournament.chang beat him with speed not muscle.

  • @jayfey77 In his autobiography, he just said he tanked on purpose to Chang.

  • it wasnt cause of bulking it was cause of getting experience.agassi had already been bulking alot after the 90 season when he went into the open in 1991 you could see the huge difference and he still lost in the first round to krickstein.so bulking didnt help him.experience on the tour for years helped him.

  • Roddick bulked up too BTW , you can see it if you look at old videos of him with his matches with Hewitt , and his game suffered too on hard - hence why hes never done shit other than on grass where he can just thump his serve.

  • @youeat85nuts Nadal has big take back - far bigger than Couriers and even Agassi or Petes.

It doesnt look it but go watch his fh in high def and u will see. The other thing Nadal has is left handed with means he has even more flexbility , range than right hander ( hence why they say lefrys always have an advantage serving ) Nadal like Muster can get away with it and whats more has entirely different build / muscle tone, I dont think hes even big a Roddick , is just looks that way

  • @youeat85nuts No your stupid, Couriers needed FLEXIBILTY because his shots were all wrist and he used a WESTERN grip ( even harder to get power off - hence the spin you see today from likes of fed / rafa ) All those guys you mention did not hit anywher near as well as the did before bulking , Agassi went from reach the final x2 year in row at FO to getting lucky break in 99 and courier never got close after 93 after dominating and winning for 2 years, a bit strange dony u think ?

  • not strange to me i knew courier would begin to suffer after bulking up it was only a matter of time.

  • i already proves ur dumbass wrong by naming players who werent muscular like ivanesivic and sampras who had more power than courier.courier ruined his career by lifting weights.too much muscle is bad for tennis.im blocking ur dumbass.

  • @jayfey77 Yeah thats why Goran and Pete were so good on clay .. You need power and damm good baseline game to win on that which is why your big serving one dimensional players never did .

Becker had good shot imo but he didnt have the movement - Edberg came close but Pete never even made one single final , and Goran was routinely owned by Courier even on surfaces other than clay.

Go look at Coueriers h2h against guys like muster during his peak 91-91 years he owened them all .

  • courier only had 2 good years.he ruined his career by weightlifting getting to much muscle.the longer his career went the worse he got.

  • boy are you stupid.too much muscle slows you donw on the court.it ruined jim couriers career.look at sampras he wasnt muscular.look at ivanesivic he wasnt musculer yet both those guys had huge serves.you know nothing.

  • WTF are you all talking about. We can see here some brillant backhand shots by Courier and the people here talk about how weak his backhand was.

He was the no. 1 in the early 90ies, unbeatable on sand. Surely because of his weak baseline game. lol

  • Courier was fortunate to achieve what he did considering how weak his backhand was. He wasn't good at defending either. At his best, he kept you pinned with his first serve and then set up with the forehand from the ad court. Edberg and Sampras exposed that if you hit to the deuce court you open up the backhand side and he's cooked. Soon enough, more players got powerful from the baseline and could take advantage of that strategy. Muscular build made him slow. Lol! Okay. He was always slow.

  • he was always slow cause he lifted weights and had too much muscle.but he got worse throughout his career because he kept lifting weights.he is much more bulkier in the mid 90s than he was in 91 or 92.

  • @jayfey77 Spot on ... just look ar most pros today , the natural big hitters dont need muscle like federer - even Sampras basline game got far worse with bulking up though you could argue he had too do it after his back scare and because it wouldnt of affected his serve much any way ( his main weapon ) which is not the case for Agassi or Courier.

Couriers short backswings made it even worse for him due to decreased flexibility thats why Agassi ( although not as good as he was pre 92 ) was ok

  • courier got worse the longer his career went because he got bigger more muscular and that ruined his career.he won grand slams at the start of his career.he didnt after that.due to lifting too much weights.in tennis thats bad for you cause it takes away speed and flexibility.thats why baseball pitchers dont lift weights they need that flexibility when pitching.you obviously dont play tennis.

  • this was the aussie open where agassi claims he "tanked" against chang? agassi looks like a clown with the bandanna.

  • Come on, Courier didn't just burn out. People started to take advantage of his shit backhand and lack of court coverage. He's no Fed or Nadal in side to side coverage.

  • the reason courier didnt have the court coverage is too much muscle lifting weights.too much muscle is bad for u in tennis because it takes away speed and flexibility.anyone who has pitched in baseball or played tennis knows this.

  • with the new rackets and speed of the game, courier just got pushed around at the end. plus he burned out and wasnt focused like he was 91-93

  • it wasnt that robert he lifted to much weights and got too much muscle.thats what ruined him.the more muscle u have the slower u get. and the less flexibility u get too which is bad for tennis.look at ivan lendl before he lifted weights the guy was fast and could run down anything.my oat cash 84 us open match proves that.but look at him later in 87 or 88 against wilander he couldnt do that anymore.too much muscle you lose speed for power.

  • @robertk2007 You got it down for the most part. I think the burn out was trying to keep up the level of play. He wasn't naturally talented like Agassi, Edberg or Sampras in those days so it was more effort to be that good. Plus not having a good backhand hurt him because he always had to keep covering more ground to avoid it. If he had a powerful backhand his stay in the top 3 or so would have been longer. I compare Courier's movement and speed to Roddick's. Rather lead footed.

  • do you have the match between micheal stich and andre medevedev 5 set encounter in the australian open, it used to be my favourite match and i lost it. would love to see it again. i think it was stich final year on the circuit in 98. if you have it could you post it on. thanks

  • great to c this clip especially after readin agassis book. mighty shots from both players.

  • Courier always looked so old for his age.

  • To me, this is the best game of all time.

I used to see this game until the VHS tape worn out.

    Thanks for uploading:-)

  • Thanks for posting!

  • funny they both have hairy faces suddenly, whos copying who? ;D

  • Great post! Many thanks! Put the rest please if you have it!

  • i have the rest but im not posting the rest.

  • I watched this match live back in '96! Thanks for posting. I think this was Agassi's 2nd match coming back from 2 sets down with the first being his '89 match vs. Connors in the USO (which I think he personally planned to do that). I was a fan of both players. I have met both of these gentlemen with really odd stories to match. Thanks for posting!

  • @theelectricman what were the stories?im a great fan of these 2 players also but connors especially cos of his wit and imperius attitude.

  • how come

  • on my old account i had up over 3 thousand tennis matchs on youtube in full, and youtubhe suspended my account due to copyrights so im not going through all that work again to have them take it down again thats why.

  • dam this was a really bad loss for courier after blowing a 2 set lead agasint sampras in AO 95 he did again here against agassi, later in the french open he again blew a 2 set lead against sampras
