The caller's point is well taken. If Steven's cared at all about his party (which I'm glad he doesn't) or his constituents, he has other, more straightforward ways of handling this. Since he's ancient, 1 of the things he could do is get out of the way & let some slightly less corrupt Rep run. There is no one outside of Stevens' inner circle who thinks he's innocent. He likes to say he's fighting for his political life, but all he's doing is fighting for his political death, which is fine by me.
