I have read and am continuing to study the UN Charter for one of my classes in law school about international law. My study leads me to think that the UN Charter threatens individual liberty and security. Both its principles and its structure promote tyranny.

Thanks so much for the post. I don't think that in the church we talk enough about the dangers of communism and what prophets have actually said about it. In today's world culture, for someone to oppose communism they are called old-fashioned and unenlightened. But we need to remember that prophets have talked about the dangers imposed by the UN and communism as well as other 'isms' as was mentioned. Thanks so much.

Hmmm... perhaps I haven't studied this enough. Maybe I'm speaking foolishly but it seems to me that the UN is not necessarily evil, although some evil may have come from it. Perhaps it just needs to be amended. I mean, even in the US there are many evil things going on within the government, that doesn't mean we should oppose the US...

I was surprised about the communist framing of the UN though. I'll have to research this some more.

Good question. The clear difference is the words of the Prophets regarding the US Constitution and its coming directly from God, vs. their statements regarding the UN and its threat to the God inspired US Constitution.

If you can get a copy of Ezra Taft Bensons book "An Enemy Hath Done This", read the Chapter "UN: Planned Tyranny". Also, J Reuben Clark wrote about it in "Stand Fast By The Constitution", and their are quite a bit of comments on it from a few other of the Brethren in "Prophets Principles and National Survival"
