My dad has been a very lucky man, hes served the military for 22 years over in germany and has survived 2 types of cancer, he also just had a quad by pass heart surgery for his heart after suffering a minor heart attack a few months back. I cried when I heard this, because I pictured one...or all...if my siblings dying. I feel for David. I wish this hadn't happened to his brother.

my wife passed away in 2005. song reminds me of it. and how the pain really is permanant. and no matter what. the worst thing you can do is try to cover the pain.

It's interesting that people interpret songs in different ways. To me, this song makes me think of my husband. He is in the Navy and I can imagine us speaking those lyrics to each other when it's time for him to deploy. It's sad, but somewhat comforting.

It is really sad that everyone knows someone who has had cancer. it is such a horrible disease!!! for the ones who have the disease, but for the ones who love them as well!

Anybody who doesn't like this has never lost someone close to them. I wish you no harm. I only wish you understand from those of us who have lost loved ones. Life is what we lose and gain along the way. Losing somebody isn't something that you easily recover from. I lost my great grandmother 6 years ago and not a day goes by that I don't think about her. The loss of a loved one is something that affects everyone.

When I first heard this I sat and cried....I lost my brother 6 years ago to Systemic Lupus and I miss him everyday and forever he will be Permanent! God Bless You and your family David Cook! This song is Awesome....Thank You for the beauty of this song!

my dad was diagnosed with Cancer almost a year ago... but I believe he will get through it, my faith is Permanent.

this song reminds me of my uncle who passed away from a brain tumor about a year ago. it will be a year on october 27. but i know he is watching over us and he would be very proud of us. he is greatly missed but loved and his spirit lives on.

This is one of the prettiest songs ever written. I lost my grandparents to cancer. They died 6 months apart. It was one of the hardest things I have ever endured. I will hurt for a long time. My thoughts and prayers are with David Cook and his family.

I can feel his pain.I have been there. My Mother died from breast cancer 08/26/2005. This song speaks to people's souls that have gone through the pain and anguish of "the not knowing when".but knowing that they will leave.You don't want to believe it... Losing a loved one is hard enough. but... to know and watch them slowly die...it's heartbreaking.. I feel his pain. This song brings tears in my eyes. I lost my brother in 2006 unexpectedly. He was only 37 and died of a sudden heart attack. This song moves me. You're in my prayers
