I think that it is a philosophical responsibility to laugh at ourselves, but when that gets extended to laughing at others, it gets complicated... especially when laughing at disability and real misfortune. Anyway, don't take it personally! I assume you must be the drummer in the band?
A question for anyone who knows: What is the name of the tune used in the background in the middle of the song (I know, of course, that the other one is "Beautiful Dreamer"). I like the way he uses these soft melodies in the background; great contrast.
Thanks for sharing........brings me way back to the times my daddy would hear this coming on the radio and turn the volume wayyyyyyy up. I can still see him in my mind's eye laughing so hard he'd cry. Great memory.
I might have Eddie mixed up with someone else, but I seem to recall Eddie working for a time on WPIX-TV, where he assisted with the kiddie show hosting duties usually handled by Officer Joe Bolton, Captain Jack McCarthy, or Chuck McCann. He also may have been responsible for the forgotten expression, "POW, thumpo, thumpo." This expression, I believe, simulated him punching you in your eye and the pounding swelling that resulted was represented by the "thumpo, thumpo." Does anyone recall this?
I remember this record and actually owned a copy as a kid of 16. Eddie Lawerence was very popular at the time. On the flip side of this record was King Arthur's Mines, a parody of the movie King Solomon's Mines.
This really takes me back. Before going to school, the morning D.J.'s would play this and other Eddie Lawrence recordings on W.J.J.D. radio in Chicago. For those who remember this track and the other novelty and comedic records of that time, it brings a smile.
I remember this...maybe 1956 or so? Didn't Walter Brennan do a version too? Or perhaps I just remember it wrong.

I am sorry that you found some photos offensive, it was not my intent, I can see that you could.
For the record, some of the photos that you refer to are actually me.

I had the 45 when I was a kid. Played it to death. Probably informed my philosophical outlook as an adult somehow! Thanks for sharing.
Really, though, the pictures combined with the track are actually offensive. It is inescapable that your video mocks the people you portray.

@tommyhothead Yes. I agree about the video. Why don't you redo?

Loved this when I was a kid!! Thanks for the post - however the pics are not funny - to me.
