  • can i ask a question i have harvestmoon and it won't saving anymore and i have a kingdom heart and It saving,I thought to replaced the battery what do You think it is work?? I start replacing Now..:))

  • hey i have one question can charge the battery beacuse i dont have enough money to buy another battery

  • Comment removed

  • U got to b effing kidding me! Srry for the bad language but seriously i cant get all of this done. I should just throw away pkmn gold

  • @stone81234 If you throw away Pokemon Gold, you'll die and go to hell instantly.

  • Wow. I didnt even watch the rest of the video. In the first few seconds, I stop and said, sir you are so smart.

  • Thx

  • So is it all right to break the bottom tab thing? The one underneath the battery.

  • I used some tweezers to open it, works a charm

  • I'm so delighted to be able to play my gold version again :)

Also, i was thinking if you use the reset clock code

(In case you did not know press down+select+B while in title screen, it will ask a password which can be obtained here: vvvvvv . legendarypokemon . net / pass change it to standard format)

Since if you leave the time then unset, does it make the battery drain slower if left the way it is, for long periods when you don't play.

  • @ViperX7007 Continuing: The reason being that the running in-game clock will drastically speed up the battery drain rate, as opposed to games with no in-game clock. And as a note on removing the old battery: use a knife, and carefully whittle away the old connections to the battery. Be patient - this will take a while. You'll also don't want to damage the metal sleeves too much - otherwise you need to replace them with new ones and that requires soldering.

  • Thank you bro. You are amazing !!!

  • need help please! I have the two things that should not be soldered (unless you remove it) ... The above one is there , but mistakenly I have removed the bottom one ... what should I do now? I have everything done .. should I solder the below one?

  • just download emulators on the computer or as i did on my iphone and just play it there who cares about the cartridge

  • My Ruby internal battery died few years ago, couldn't give a shit. The thought though of my Yellow dying makes me so depressed. The one true problem with cartridges? For all I know my Yellow may live forever and be immortal but ofcourse, if it does die, I have no choice but to try this, even though I'll probably end up breaking the broken game :(

  • @QullVideo My pokemon Yellow died on me years ago. Whenever i start the game up, i cant see the characters like Oak, Ash, and any pokemon. It just shows some random pixels, like Missingo, if you know him. And I cant save a game, always have to play a new one. :/

  • @VLbadboyVL07 Red*, and that sucks. Will you attempt to fix it?

  • @QullVideo If i can find a cell battery, i will. I'll let you know if i do

  • That explains my Gold losing everything. Wish I'd known this years ago...

  • @RJHTommy You're not supposed to put the pen tip into the flame, just very close to it.

  • Just had the urge earlier today to play Silver, and found out the battery is dead. This vid is gonna save me so much grief.

  • i mean online

  • i just bought 5 batteries offline for 1.49 Cr 2025

  • Ripping it may damage it. Why you wanna do is pop up the little prongs covering the battery from both sides.

  • ein deutscher macht ein englisches tutorial gute arbeit^^ aber kann man die batteriehalterung auch anlöten?

btw ich habe den selben advance sp :P

  • Ur awesome dude

  • what material did u use for melting (plastic or sonething else)

thumbs up so he can see this

  • I wanted to see how you ripped it.

  • That pen trick is absolute genius! ^_^

  • Can you remake the video but showing how u did everything :P Visual learners rule!!!

  • So this is what to do if the game continues to do a new game even if saved?

  • @Craafty16 yes.

  • Just get the battery off Ebay. Easy done.

  • I have a question. If i were to replace the dead save battery with another game's battery, will it still work? Or do I need to buy a new battery myself? Because I have a few games that I don't play anymore.

  • the screw thing is really tight on mine, so i tried the pen thing, and it didn't work, and the tweezers i have are either too big, or too flimsy.. any more suggestions?

  • I just went to zeller's and stole the batteries, they were like 9$ each. FUCK THAT :D

  • @Beerbongbeerandweed hahaahhaha thief

  • Comment removed

  • @meatman272: Radio Shack part numbers: 55035623 or 23-799. Just looks like a "CR 2025" type battery.

  • @senorlightnin about 8 years or longer

  • how long will the battery last?

  • use a tweezer people..u dnt need the pen shit...

  • How do you guys do that with the pen? I ruined like ten pens and it didn't work at all.

Does anybody know where I can get one of those fucking bits?

  • @TheTrohl those bits are just for the gameboy games i think. The pen trick is pretty much putting the pen cap above an open flame but not very close. just heat it up enough to make it weak and easy to form

  • @prplprince I tried that, but either the plastic was too soft or I just did something wrong, although it finally worked with a special sort of pen. But now, I know where to get the bits anyway, so I might do that in the not too distant future.

  • @TheTrohl where do you get the bits? Im going to be doing this later and I rather not ahve the smell of burnt plastic in my house

  • how the hell do u take out the battery its stuck to the upper and lower attain

  • I'm having trouble finding the right pen. Does it need to be bigger then the screw or smaller? Please answer me back!

  • how the hell did you find this out, ive been looking for flash cards in the uk for gbc so i can play my pokemon silver... and does this definetly work?

  • Worked like a charm; great video.

  • you live in hungary but have german game? this makes no sense! :P

  • Nice Video, but can I also send my Game (Pokemon Ruby) to Nintendo to change it for me ?

Because I heard that they're not providing that service :/

I'm too afraid to handle it on my own Game :P

  • wierd found a pack of 2032's at my flea market for a dollar should i get em they r just the battery no arms

  • what can't you learn through a youtube video nowadays from people who want to help and have ingenious simple solution hell yeah thank you brother

  • Can I do this for pokemon blue version as well?

  • @vegeta26809 I can't say for sure, but this procedure shouldn't be necessary on a copy of Blue.

I've never heard reports of batteries dying in first generation games. I myself have a copy of Yellow that's still fully functional. They must have used a better battery in the older games or something.

Whatever the problem is with your Blue, I doubt that it's a dead battery.

  • @TBustah @vegeta26809 not sure if this issue was resolved for you - the first gen games don't have an internal clock. They don't have day and night, they can record the hours played but that runs off the console power source. It's only second gen onwards (silver/gold) that kept internal time, so when it was night in real life it was night in the game.

  • SO SMART!

  • Can anyone tell me where can I get 1 of those new battery ?!

  • I've got a fake game (?!) and i want to have an original game. This is pokemon fire red and i cant save. You are my last resort. Sorry for the grammatic, i'm german =P

  • can u describe the pen u used because every pen ive tried doesnt form around the nut the way i wnt it too. plzzzz!!!

  • took me 5 times befor i got to make my screw

  • Pokemon Silver Version seems to be the common game with the battery problem. Mine too.

  • I can't cut the little prongs that're holding the batter in, it's like the god damn strongest fucking metal ever, I've sat with a tiny sharp blade sawing at it for like 10 mins and it still won't cut, how'd you disconnect the battery!?

  • well buy a stupid game that you wont wanna play than just make the switch lol sorry that Nintendo doesn't help us were on our own

  • crap my sapphire is doing this i demand Nintendo do something!

  • @HQO106 I emailed asking nintendo about this, they won't fix it.

  • @makemebadfan95

sounds like nintendo! as soon as its out and sold they dont give a shit

  • I would like to point out that there may be a different problem that is preventing some players to save on GBA carts. The gold contacts inside the game may just be dirty, the best way to clean this is with some stuff called "DeoxIT Gold". I managed to fix my GBA cart with a dab of that on the end of a cotton swab, and didnt have to risk breaking the delacate battery prongs or failing at soldering (never done it before). Hope this helps :3

  • Taping circuit boards is ghetto as fuck. Soldering is a piece of piss if you don't hold the hot end of the iron!

  • thanks fixed my emerald by this :)

  • @AKExterminator What was the name of the battery, because my Super Mario Advance 2 won't save :(

  • @YahBum007 idk what the battery was called i just used another gamboy advanced game battery and switched it XD sorry

  • i have Links awakening DX that i bought at a flea market. All 3 save files are glitched and i cant delete them. i tried changing the battery like i did on my silver but it didnt work. so now, i cant hamtaro (because thats where i got the battery) or LoZ. Its bullshit. Any help or ideas?

  • @BvsMAcost Can I use the same battery in a gameboy advance cartridge? Or do I need another CR type?

  • s.dealextreme . com/search/cell+batteries. u find here

  • 0:27 u solved a 13 years problem of mine xD.. never thought like that in old times xD..thx

  • which side faces up when you put the battery in? positive or negative? Also, the old battery i removed had a pink "skirt" around it, not a yellow one. Will that work?

  • @blastbeatsmashedface the skirt color really doesnt matter, as long as you keep it on

  • @meatman272 alright thanks. Do you know which side faces up when you put the battery in?

  • @blastbeatsmashedface check the back of the old one, it should be negative side, and that means the positive side goes up.

  • A decent pen will cost you $2-5. A 3.8mm security bit cost me $4 online. I don't know why anyone would bother with the pen.

  • Gonna ty it.

  • were are the batteries found at? a radio shack or something? please answer this! it is important for me and others as well!

  • @meatman272 chill man. they're everywhere. size 2016 I think, if not then size 2025, they are common watch batteries. google it to be sure (i really think 2016)

  • @zacthebold

    I used size 2025.

    I think radioshack has them...

  • @zacthebold thanks, but i found them at cvs, this really worked man, thanks i did this to my silver and gold

  • @meatman272 You can find the battery on amazon.com or ebay

  • @meatman272 i just went to walmart and bought watch batteries. it works on my crystal and blue versions perfectly

  • @meatman272 dollar store!

  • @meatman272 He's German Cuz Of The Way The pokemon Game Was...That's Probly Why H'es Not Answering This Question!!!!

  • @meatman272 radio shack, amazon, ebay, staples etc.

  • @meatman272 I found them at wal-mart, none at target though.

  • @meatman272 sorry im late. its a cr2025 you can find them at walmart target or radio shack. Look for them in the battery shack or auto dept. thats where i found mine. both my crystal versions didnt work (one american, one japanese) and theyre good now

  • @meatman272 i found some at wallmart

  • Google it? Dumbass...

  • it rly worked thanks man!!!!!!

  • I recently had the urge to replay my silver game, in my opinion this generation was the best in the series, and was heart broken to find that my game wouldn't save.

Now I can relive the awesomeness of my childhood (aka like 11 years ago when this came out) thanks to you BvsMAcosh ! Thanks dude!

  • what battery did you use?

  • this real worked thanks BvsMAcosh

  • Brilliant, thanks! I worked out that BIC biro's aren't very good for the screw-driver, the plastic they are made if is quite weak. I used a thicker pen, similar to the one in the video, and it worked second time of trying! I was about to give up hope as well!

  • I couldn't do it with the pen either :( However I used a knife that was pointy and sharpened all the way to the end. It was hard to do but I got it open.

  • i cant do the screw driver pen thing

  • For all Pokemon Silver,is the battery the same? Also, how long would a battery like this last?

  • ok i did everything you did but i switched the battery from my pokemon emerald with my silver and they both work lol

  • opened them with scissor (dont do it) cut ma hand :P but at least opened it XD

  • yea that whole pen thing didnt work so i just used tweasers it was so easy!

  • sweet thanks so much you just saved my life :)

  • omg thank you so much..I needed this for my pokemon gold thank you! back to my good memories...

  • i like how he started with silver then somehow took out gold

  • will this work on gba games?

  • Congratulations.

    I love you.

  • The battery's packaging and the tape might cause unintended ESD, so I suggest find ESD safe tape or perhaps a ESD safe adhesive.

  • i have some 3.6 volt (not 3V) cell batteries in mah house, will they work too?

  • excellent video. thank you!

  • Thanks for the tips my game saves properly now although i used needle nose pliers for mine

  • which battery do I need for pokemon sapphire

  • @BigManator CR 16 16T 3V(volts) battery.

  • @yourlilemogirl

    danke :)

  • @BigManator no probs :)

  • not working for me, I do not know what I am doing wrong...

  • macgyver of gameboys right here

  • how the fuck did you get the stupid ass thign on top of the battery off. mines fucking melted to it and wont come off unless i break teh bitch off...

  • FETT MAN hast mir echt geholfen hatte erst angst die edition mal auf zumachen aber wenn des so einfach is btw welche knopf batterie hast du benutzt?

  • i have exact same gameboy

  • Thank you for this post. The pen idea worked well. I used the shaft from a gel pen. I had to melt it twice to get the impression to take then it worked. I opened up my FF Legend 3 cartridge with some small battery with no markings. The board was different so I had to modify the procedure slightly. In essence, it was the same thing. It all worked very play. Thank you for this post! I love this type of stuff, kudos to your ingenuity and use of common materials.

  • just fixed my sons pokemon silver by using your tip. thanks!!!

  • pokemon silver is exactly the game i have the same problem with, but i have to admit that i dont dare to open it... i dont think that im able to change the battery without doing a mistake... =/

  • I'm so trying this out :) well, I get my Dad to do it!

  • quick question, if you put cellotape in contact with the circuit board wouldn't it overheart when you played the game and melt the tape?

  • I'm definately gonna use this video as a reference. The battery looks secure enough. Who the hell has a soldering iron at home?

  • What kind of pen did you use???

  • it goes blunt and doesnt work

  • i ripped out the soldier on my donkey kong :( is there any way to fix it? i did my poke silver just fine

  • does your saved game still get deleted?

  • @IDmann700 yes because its a new battery

  • i cant melt the pen :( i melted it and put it in my gba cartridge screw and it doesnt unscrew it :(

  • @BlobbyBoy8 yeah, it's better just to use needle nose plyers for that.

  • @BlobbyBoy8 Just use needle nose pliers they work just as well

  • @BlobbyBoy8 I suggest using a more heavy duty pen. I tried a cheap bic pen, and I couldn't get it to work. But the heavy duty one worked just fine.

  • @BlobbyBoy8 lololol fail

  • @BlobbyBoy8 that's because the gameboy advance screw is different than the gameboy screw. I'm not sure what to tell you to use, but if you make one, you would need something that would mold into the little 3 pointed star shape of the screw.

  • @BlobbyBoy8 Try using Jewellery pliers. Worked great with me.

  • @BlobbyBoy8 do you have a heat gun?

  • great help!!!! thx.

  • where can i buy 1 of these batterys brand new cheap?

  • @Macaroni529 any wear that has batteries ive seen them at places like wall greens or cvs for like under $3 for two

  • @Macaroni529 I bought 5 on ebay for under 3 dollars.

  • I need help!!!! When it doesn't save anymore what is it the game cartridges or the gameboy system cause it does it with all my pokemon games please help cause i dont know what it is or to do?

  • @luis7796352 Its the system, i'm sure those specific ones weren't manufacturing defects.

  • yaaay it's in german!!!

    pokemon for the win

spiel sichern... ahh da werden erinnerungen wach

  • I just wrapped duct tape around the battery in my Blue. It works fine. One time, though, it forgot my save game because the static electricity in the tape discharged. It saves great, now.

  • what an epic Gehtto fix =D GG im actualy going to do this on my Japanese crystal

  • can i buy a battery at the 99 cent store?

  • umm can i buy a battery at radioshack!

  • yaay

  • I blame you if my game breaks and never works again. Well, not so much, I'll also blame myself

  • I spent 4 hours leveling up my pokemon the day before and then it dies!!!

  • will it work on crystal

  • but will your save dissapear if you change the battery? Please answer =)

  • @apexcontroll Yes it will.

  • @apexcontroll yes

  • @apexcontroll Not if you buy that "mega memory card" thing and put your save on there. its like 2.99

  • you sir, are genius

    thanks alot man

you saved people alot of money

  • dude! ur the best!! thx! im subbing u :D

  • Could not get the plastic of a pen to melt into the shape of the screw to be able to unscrew it. Maybe needle nose pliers will work?
