Who is better, X or Zero? In all honesty, it really comes down to play style preferences. I prefer X myself, due to this ranged attacks and multiple armors, whereas a close friend of mine prefers Zero, due to his greater base strength, combo speed , and his in-your-face play style. However, one can't argue how broken BOTH of them are in X8...

Zero doesn't need to use weapon energy for his learned abilities. Zero has long hair. I imagine X has shorter hair. Zero can double jump. Zero can use the saber (close combat) better than X. They're even opposite colors. The only things X has over Zero are his multiple armor sets, and his variable ability.
@SpiritDetective4 When you played a megaman game, you used megaman and had to defeat zero at one point or another. Megaman is always stronger than Zero at the end of the game, and that's all that matters when disputing strenght. Hair and height means nothing to a character's ability's. X having multiple armor sets means a whole lot compared to Zero's static arsenal.

And I did say that X has an advantage with the multiple armor sets. But if we only counted natural abilities, (meaning no armor), Zero would have small advantages like the ones I mentioned earlier.

At the end of the day, its not whose natural ability is better (thought sometimes we really do like that) its whose overall ability is better, and when analyzing strength, you can't take away from a character, its not fair. That's one of Megaman's strength was his armor, it increased his versatility greatly, far pass Zero, my main reason for liking him.

@zeroa69 An improved version of X? Where do you get that from!? X and Zero were the ultimate creations of two very different people with very different mindsets when it came to robotics. The only reason Zero is "better" is because he isn't as prone to hesitation or feeling sympathy for his opponents. If you find yourself on Zero's bad side, you're scrap metal.

Unless you give me a source, I'm calling complete and utter BS. Wily started construction on Zero sometime around the events of Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters as seen in Bass' ending. Look it up.
He didn't steal Dr Light's blueprints for X to build him, he built Zero from the accumulation of knowledge from all his past defeats and mistakes.
Now some of X's technology may have been incorporated into Zero after his numerous reconstructions throughout the series such as in Megaman X2, but Zero and X were created by two different people in isolation of each other. It would be more accurate to say that Zero (and X) are descendants of Proto Man since he was intended to become the first humanoid robot capable of independent thought and reasoning.

Oh, that? People have long speculated that Zero was activated near the end of the Megaman era and killed the Megaman Family. Inafune however said that Zero didn't do it. What you're seeing are his memories of when he was a Maverick, around his first battle with Sigma, where he butchered Gamma's Unit. The Blueprints you see are actually Zero's, but you have to pause the video to get a good look at them.
capcom is the best no videogame company beats them, megaman is a legend he cant b surpassed by any other. the beat is great and megaman's remake looks fabulous.

By cancelling two projects within months of eachother, they lost thousands if not a million+ dollars in development costs, VA's (Professionals like David Hayter for example, Cost up to 35,000 To hire) And then lost whatever revenue they would gain from completeing the project, Buisnesses don't make choices like that over personal reasons.

In shortm Capcom is focusing on casuals. Not the hardcore fans, but the casual gamers.
@DevilWithoutaCuase Just to point somthing out: megaman hasn't been a hardcore game since the SNES... I love the series, but it's been the pariah of gaming since X3. Streetfighter and MVC are tournament based games that use complex controls (street fighter atleast still does) and are considered more core centered series. Megaman also hasn't been bringing in as much money as they thought it would (MM10 sold half of what MM9 did... the 3DS isn't selling well at all so there isn't even an audiance)

@Van0079 Believe me, I know. And the only reason X even exists is because Zero was too different from the original Megaman so Inafune had to create X. So frankly, X is nothing more than a wingman. He's also a pansy who never wants to fight and whines every time he has to, failed epically at using Zero's sword, and even went into RETIREMENT in X7 and thus was responsible for AXL being added onto the team (the most unnecessary 3rd wheel in the series, by the way)

Zero is cool, but X is my favorite, because he's always been someone who, despite hating fighting, takes up the fight to protect the weak. What's so sad about X's story is that in the end, he stops fighting because he just becomes so tired of it. @lordoYYH255 I have read pretty extensively on the Classic Megaman Storyline. Never found anything indicating that the original Mega Man or X was destroyed. In Mega Man Zero supposedly X sacrificed himself because he thought himself to be the cause of the majority of conflict or something. At the end of Mega Man X8 apparently X is still alive and well so that's what I will go with until Capcom shows me otherwise. Also with Mega Man 9 and 10 coming out apparently the original still lives as well.
@TezukaKohei X was killed by Elpizo in Megaman Zero 2, therefore there is no more X. He's dead, for megaman however its ambiguous as to whether he is dead or just not up and about. But it has been confirmed that the timeline is legit and Zero is a direct continuation of the X series (meaning it is not a spinoff)

The Elf energy was running out supposedly so he was going to "disappear" anyways. I don't really count this as Elpizo "killing" X who was not only non-existent but fading away anyways. No matter what happened X's essence would have disappeared forever because the energy he used to keep his projection in that world was finite. There was probably no way to re-unite X's essence with the body once the seal was performed.

Megaman is different "person" from Megaman X (or simply X). X was created many years and the baseline for Reploids.

@S0ryiu And, continuing (Sorry for 2x posting) The original megaman series supposedly ended when Zero was activated (differenciating between the two, Zero and X, (Characters) X was never completely activated, Zero was prematurley activated) It is assumed Zero killed all the original Megaman characters before returning to sleep and then years later, which lead to the incident where Sigma was infected, so on so forth

@DevilWithoutaCuase I remember there being an interview IGN did where it was stated that Zero did not kill anyone. The original cast with the exception of megaman and Light are still around but not shown.

@S0ryiu They already said thats not what happend, and Infaune said thats not what happend. Capcom is a buisness, buisnesses make money. By cancelling two projects within months of eachother, they lost thousands if not a million+ dollars in development costs, VA's (Professionals like David Hayter for example, Cost up to 35,000 To hire) And then lost whatever revenue they would gain from completeing the project, Buisnesses don't make choices like that over personal reasons.

@S0ryiu If Capcom did shit like that, they would have went out of buisness a long time ago. Infaune left ebcause they were being dicks and wouldn't let him do what he wanted with his projects. Infaune offered to stay with them long enough to finsih both games, but they refused and cancelled them anyway, Then what? They used whatever was left to make more street fighter and Umvc3. In shortm Capcom is focusing on casuals. Not the hardcore fans, but the casual gamers.

@DevilWithoutaCuase Just to point somthing out: megaman hasn't been a hardcore game since the SNES... I love the series, but it's been the pariah of gaming since X3. Streetfighter and MVC are tournament based games that use complex controls (street fighter atleast still does) and are considered more core centered series. Megaman also hasn't been bringing in as much money as they thought it would (MM10 sold half of what MM9 did... the 3DS isn't selling well at all so there isn't even an audiance)

@Van0079 Believe me, I know. And the only reason X even exists is because Zero was too different from the original Megaman so Inafune had to create X. So frankly, X is nothing more than a wingman. He's also a pansy who never wants to fight and whines every time he has to, failed epically at using Zero's sword, and even went into RETIREMENT in X7 and thus was responsible for AXL being added onto the team (the most unnecessary 3rd wheel in the series, by the way)

@XeroTenjin93 Whoa whoa there now hold on, I guess that's why X has been the one to have beaten Sigma the most times out of the whole series right? Why Zero in the first installment basically said in his own words to X he'd become as powerful as he was. Why X had to go and find Zero's parts in X2 just to bring him back to life in the first place before the X-Hunters got them, right?
And note that true X fans usually don't knock Zero because they realize the two work best as partners & friends.

As I mentioned, he wasn't even originally intended to be IN the series. If Inafune had gotten his way, X would never have existed. X is just some bad attempt at keeping the blue bomber alive, but even classic megaman had more balls than X did. What's there to appreciate about a coward who doesn't even want to fight or even be a hero? There's nothing to admire about a coward. "Father of all reploids" or not.

What X shows is not cowardly, is hestation, hestation to KILL what are technically his children/brothers. He is a Hero because he protects for the humans and Reploids, not just kills like a machine. Even Zero says X is the best suitable to be a Hero because he protects every one, and is not just a killing machine.
And yeah, Zero is awesome too, so im not a Zero hater if you ask.

@Saiyan0X That's exactly what I love so much about X and why I made sure to do a remix of his theme. Zero is cool, but X is my favorite, because he's always been someone who, despite hating fighting, takes up the fight to protect the weak. What's so sad about X's story is that in the end, he stops fighting because he just becomes so tired of it. I love the sense of brotherhood in the MMZ series, and how Zero takes up the fight in X's place, letting his friend rest. X is the best. —DarkeSword

@AsheramK D: I was thinking the exact same thing! I mean, nowadays I see so many people pusing for an X9, but what I'd really like to see is a proper anime of the X series. When they came out with the OVA cutscenes, The day of Sigma, for the PSP game, I was in awe because of how good it was! Now if they did something like that for the rest of it, granted they actually pick decent voiceactors this time, and good script writers, I bet you it would be amazing. Anime > Another game, Nuff said. :3

if you would really know about X. So read the Manuals of the Games, in every part is a short part out of the History of X and Zero. But its correct, Wily build Zero and Light build X. It exists some Videoparts on Youtube from the Megaman X: Maverick Hunter series. In there you can see, why X would build & for what for a reason. :) Shit on Wikipedia, look at the offical Capcom Page if you would proofed informations about that.

There are 2 timelines the Main Timeline: (1. Megaman 2. Megaman X 3. Megaman Zero 4. Megaman ZX 5. Megaman Legends)
Other is the Network Timeline: (1. Megaman Battle Network 2. Megaman Starforce)

@lordoYYH255 I have read pretty extensively on the Classic Megaman Storyline. Never found anything indicating that the original Mega Man or X was destroyed. In Mega Man Zero supposedly X sacrificed himself because he thought himself to be the cause of the majority of conflict or something. At the end of Mega Man X8 apparently X is still alive and well so that's what I will go with until Capcom shows me otherwise. Also with Mega Man 9 and 10 coming out apparently the original still lives as well.

@TezukaKohei X was killed by Elpizo in Megaman Zero 2, therefore there is no more X. He's dead, for megaman however its ambiguous as to whether he is dead or just not up and about. But it has been confirmed that the timeline is legit and Zero is a direct continuation of the X series (meaning it is not a spinoff)

The Elf energy was running out supposedly so he was going to "disappear" anyways. I don't really count this as Elpizo "killing" X who was not only non-existent but fading away anyways. If that's the case then Elpizo just quickened the inevitable.

@lordoYYH255 Also I just looked it up to confirm. X committed suicide to seal the Mother Elf. Therefore he was already dead before Elpizo destroyed his body. Elpizo just undid the seal. No matter what happened X's essence would have disappeared forever because the energy he used to keep his projection in that world was finite. There was probably no way to re-unite X's essence with the body once the seal was performed.

Its not just on wikipedia dumb ass, and im pretty sure even if it were on wikipedia it has monitors that clears bullshit info on it and changes it. Dr. Light from the classic series made X, as Dr. Wily from the classic series made Zero. You don't have to look at wikipedia its not the only place i get information from. Megaman Legends like it or not is the final chapter of the Classic Timeline.
