  • "..First, we have some very sad news, our own veteran reporter Herb Welch died 5 seconds ago."

  • The old prick in studio is probably banging every broad that walks in the newsroom so he feels he has to talk down to the old washed up field reporter to show off how cool he is.

  • HHahahha lmao! Fuckin geesers goin at it!

  • 101 people are no longer.. how did that happen?

  • The guy in the studio was a prick. It's goofy local news, not a 60 Minutes interview of a President for fuck sake.

  • @70goldtop i agree new yorkers are retards!

  • The field reporter was at fault - he didn't follow up & he had a shiity attitude

  • i would fire the doucebag in the studio. he was at fault 100%

  • lmao this turned into Herb Welch on snl

  • Typical squabbling New York assholes. All the same

  • @70goldtop Go fuck yourself!

  • If I had been the owner of the station, I would have fired them both for this unprofessional behaviour. Both of these well-dressed, well-educated folks are acting like children. Tell them to grow up. No laughs from me; I'm embarrassed for them.

  • @MrMittendorf hi there, there was only one that started it though? with a bad attitude, agreed? the in studio guy started it though eh?

    D

  • @davegadge1 Yeah, I suppose that I agree with you, but the field reporter could still have also been more adult about it all.

  • Damn he gave the old dude the hushmouth lol! I would have slapped the shit out of him when I got back to the studio!

  • Its hard to laugh at something like that, what a bully.

  • This is where SNL got their skit from.

  • Unprofessional

  • haha "douche chilllllll!"

  • Aww Jim that was mean. Respect your colleagues.

  • I finally know where the SNL sketch came from.:D

  • LOL... It's Herb Welch from SNL!

  • Hmmmm, lets see...Jim vs. Chuck Norris? that's a tough one.

  • Thats how you live like a badass

  • "Ah well i don't know Jim".

  • i didnt realize this was what snl did the spinoff character of... until now

  • @icejames14 LOL, I just saw a skit of SNL and I thought of this as well. I didnt realize they did it before either.

  • Best comeback ever "well u were, and are No longer how did that happen.". "well, I don't know" Hahahahaha fucking idiot xD

  • 0:55

Black guy is like, "Keep stepping, bitch. That elevator will get fixed when I'm good and ready."

  • hahah

  • Comment removed

  • Dayummm, OWNED!

  • "If I have to teach ya how da be a reporter..." ooo...now there's a nice insult.

  • is this where they got that SNL sketch from?

  • They going in

  • Lmfao

  • What a damn dickhead.

  • There Fucking Teleprompter jockeys who have 0% kwoledge of Journalism. If a teleprompter goes down or if they lose a piece of paper that contains what they were going to say, news anchors or field reporters turn into monkeys poking at their poo with a stick. The only skill nightly news anchors posses is the ability to act like there looking @ the audience while reading the teleprompter.

  • the girl laughing in the background lol

  • People are totally taking this clip out of context. This all happened on a show called "Good Day NY." It's not a typical news program; it's a morning show with a very laid back, loose format where everyone is supposed to be very chatty and informal and not act like typical news ppl with sticks up their butts. So when Jim Ryan was asking Dick Oliver to bring back the woman, he wasn't telling him how to do his job; he was just keeping in the spirit of the show.

  • Anyway, what should've happened was that Oliver should've asked Ryan what to ask the woman, but instead he seemed to cop an attitude about it. (Listen to his voice when he asks, "What do you want?") Then Ryan got offended by his tone and the catfight started.

  • High school never ends.

  • Just a little bit of background on these TV personalities: At 0:50 you can see the date of this broadcast, Thursday, July 19. The last time July 19th was a Thursday was in 2007, before that in 2001, this footage was uploaded 6/13/07, i.e. this obviously is from 7/19/2001.

Interesting part now: The same two guys, Dick Oliver (reporter) and Jim Ryan (anchorman) were the very first to break the 9/11 story just two minutes after the first impact, i.e. only less that two months after this moment.

  • @Johi2410 According to wikipedia this was filmed in 2005.

  • @Blackboilingrobotoil

7/19 was a Tuesday then, doesn't make sense. Mmh whatever, at least they were the same two that did a very good job (I'd say) on that horrible day.

  • @Johi2410 Well thats only according to wiki so, who knows, you could be right. And yes, I hope they are remembered for covering one of the biggest news stories in history and not this. (Even if it is really fucking funny.)

  • The anchor guy does come off sounding like a prick but a reporter saying things like "So what do you want NOW?" on-air is actually pretty confrontational too. These guys had both called each other out before the anchorman Jim dropped the bomb on old Dick.

  • Anchor 1 Reporter 0

  • The anchor was clearly trying to humiliate the reporter and must have been waiting for that moment for a long time. Once the reporter cuts back to the news station, that's it. END OF STORY! You can't just disregard that and try to open it back up. Reporters have to cover the story in a specific period of time. The anchor did this completely out of spite towards Oliver. Whether Oliver was a dick or not, professionals need to pick and choose there battles carefully.

  • @theangrylittlebryan

I agree with you completely. And I would have liked your comment. But I didn't 'cause I'm a grammar Nazi.

    *their battles carefully.

  • @xoxYummyyxox Good for you. At least you have standards when you "like" something. Forget the message, it had better be spelled correctly. XD

  • @xoxYummyyxox Oh NO!!! Not a grammar Nazi!!!

  • Drunk tank!!!

  • "I'm not taking reporting advice from some...haircut!" I love SNL's spin on this video.

  • 99 people are no longer bosses, how did that happen?

  • Yeah, the douchey anchor started it. But he also finished it.

  • Every time he says "you were my boss once but no longer, how did that happen?", i cringe. I actually felt really bad for the old reporter. He clearly isnt the reporter he used to be and the news anchor is jerk for taking advantage of the old reporter's ability to stay sharp.

  • @philaboston they're both old...just that one of them doesn't what to be there in that apt any longer then he has to be

  • @Alandalus105 I agree. Still, the man in power, sitting all comfortable in the newsroom, totally trashes the old beat reporter. Nasty stuff and i side with the old beat reporter.

  • @philaboston i dont think that he said nasty things to him, but i do admit that what he said shouldn't have been said on tv. However, the fault lies with the reporter, who started to sling dirt at the news anchor because the news anchor asked him to do his job.

  • lol i remember this!!!!!!!!

  • 1:39 haha "yeah you were my boss and are no longer, how did that happen?" LOL

  • I actually saw this before I saw the SNL skit and when I saw it on SNL it was so much more funny because I know what they were relating too! haha good times

  • He forgot to hit her with the mike!!!!! LMAO!!!!

  • lol the woman laughing behind is hilarious

  • Director made the anchor end the fight. In a beautiful situation like that I say to hell with professionalism. He should have let it go on for a while. Priceless. I've watched this clip almost a hundred times and it's far from boring. Pissed off old guys are comedy gold.

  • i'll give you all lessons on how to be an editor

  • ollie is sexy

  • here's armdabillamillo

  • i call this one a tie

  • haha, funny, everyone is beating up on the anchor. When I watched this, I was like "man, that reporter is a tard, he never gave the woman a chance to rebut and she was standing there shaking her head looking disgusted the whole time the other guy was talking, obviously wanting to respond". Then the reporter seems clueless when the anchor asks for her response, like he wasn't listening to anything the building superintendent said.

  • anchorman is an idiot what kind of fucking news is this?

  • pointing your finger at someone with rolled up papers in ur hand = win....btw can i go drink my daily milk now

  • this is the type of video you can watch a thousand times and it never gets old

  • Jim - you are a massive cunt

  • anchors are all douche bags...i dislike reporters and journalists in general because some times they just cross the line and invade your privacy without giving a damn about you

  • If the guy wanted to know something more, he should have told the reporter to ask a goddamn question.

It's such bullshit to tell someone that they're not finished or that they haven't done the job right, and then not tell them how they've done it wrong or how they can finish. He was just being a jerk, that was obvious.

  • Lol, nobody was even wondering what the report was about.

  • Hahaha that's awesome

  • That poor reporter... The anchorman needs to take a chill pill or something.

  • I have to admit that the interviewer seemed to have gotten both parties to respond to the situation, isnt that his job? Then the one at the station wanted an additional response from the lady.

The reporter appeared to want to go along with that at first but the guy at the station got upset and started to insult him. IMO very unprofessional of him (maybe a personal beef?).

  • it's the reporter's story. why would the anchor feel the need to stick his nose in? the reporter actually cut off the black dude becaue they had to go back to the studio...

  • JIM IS THE MOTHERFUCKING MAN.

  • "I was your boss once. "

"You were, but are no longer. How did that happen?"

    Lol, that part was pwned

  • The reporter should know how to do his job. Maybe his stupidity is why he's no longer the anchorman's boss?

  • if that was Ollie from family guy, all hell would' ve broke loose

  • The woman's a typical liberal. She wants work done on nights and weekends ignoring that it costs more to work other than 9-5. But if her rent were to go up, she'd complain about that.

  • @templecpa2002 i work on nights and wekend it cost the same

  • the fuck is Akon doing there?

  • the reporter is dumb.. the anchor clearly said "i want a response to what the gentleman said"

  • I'm not dead, you bastard!!!!

  • the anchor wasnt an asshole. that reporter was fucking stupid. the anchor obviously wanted a fucking response from what the black guy said, and the idiot keeps asking" ok so wht do you want?"

im not saying the anchor was right to do that but the reporter had it coming.

  • he's not gonna take reporter lessons from a can of hairspray!!!

  • Herb!

  • It looks like Ollie's mailing it in during that interview. He's rushing through it without really following up. He probably hasn't been a reporter for decades and was forced to return to the street if he wanted to keep his job. Jim shouldn't have ripped him on air but he was probably frustrated.

  • the anchorman was right...............the reporter was a jackass..........he didnt know how to do his job

  • the anchorman is cheap! he cut to the other reporter before ollie could give a good comeback.

  • This was awesome! That anchor man was an ass hole. He shouldn't have criticized the reporter on air. That's just being douchy.

  • notice how she started laughing in the background hahahahha

  • Reminds me of this.

    "Peter you've lost the news !" watch?v=BDKQliH1awY

  • Comment removed

  • anchor doesn't like the guy because he was probably a dickhead boss

  • This reminds me of Bruce Almighty...

  • HAHAHAHA...LMFAO!!!!!!I WAS YOUR BOSSS,,,,HAHAHAHA

  • So unprofessional.

  • "I was your boss once"... I can't see how you can say that and win an argument.

  • they burned my friend

  • LOL

  • peter o'hanrhanrahan

the anchor is correct, the woman should have been allowd to respond, look at the arrogant way the property manager acts when she walks off

  • the anchor is the dick here

  • I love the property managers face, when he's like "okay she lives on the 1st floor"LOL

  • lmao, you yanks are hilarious

  • did u know that this is the on air fight that inspired bill hader to create the snl character herb welch? by the way.... im only 11 & i love snl soooo much!

  • Probably feels good to grill your ex-boss.

  • I would love to step all over my boss once he's demoted especially, if he was an absolute dick to me. They probably have a tough history but to do it on the air live is just professional murder.

  • Both are unprofessional. This was funny though lol.

  • Hahaha!!! This is awesome!!! :D

  • OH SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSNAP!!!!!!

  • WOW! That was incredibly unprofessional....but it was HILARIOUS!

  • Herb You fucking SUCK

  • haha THIS is where SNL got there idea!

  • @garretthallgang haha That's what I thought!

  • @garretthallgang 'Their idea' not "there idea" lol!

  • @garretthallgang GOOD! I'm not the only one who thought so...

  • "Well there you have it. The apartment complex is fully integrated. Back to you Jack." ~Herb Welch

  • Wow. Talk about a lack of professionalism.

  • HE TURK MAH JURRRB! DERPY DERRRP!!!

  • #LOL

  • Lol

  • ELL OH ELL

  • LOL! They should have more of these. It sure would spice up the more boring constrast of these typical anchor interviews. Might even up the ratings.

  • that anchorman is such a jerk, unbelievable...the poor reporter was doing his job and he felt the need to insult him on live tv. He must have had some issues with him or been having a fucked up morning!

  • @Fearhumans I agree with the anchorman though. The advantage is always given to the spokesman for the corporations rather then the little guy standing up to them. The corporations think they can do watever the fuck they want and it needs to stop. I would know bout stuff like that.

  • Bill Haider does a lame imitation of the reporter in SNL sketches the past two years.

  • The guy behind the desk is a shit head the reporter was doing his job and doing it well

  • Comment removed

  • The man behind the desk obviously has a problem with the other man. I hope he was reprimanded for that.

  • The anchor is a fucking shit head. The other reporter tellsy him if he has a question for the lady but he comes with no logic answers, ''Ill tach how to be a reporter'', well ask the damn question you want if you are so despret for a asnwer fucking old man.

  • LOL 1:48...victory face!

  • SNL STOLE THIS!

  • @calixa yeah they made a pretty good parody of it.

  • old man fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @littleteethkeith Grumpy Old Men

  • amusing

  • That reporter has obviously been too long at his job to not care to do it right.

  • What an asshole anchor man. Too bad God can't burn your head off!

  • the anchor man is a prick

  • HA HA HA, he burnt him at the end. Yeah, it's a dog-eat-dog world.

  • the lady being interview was certainly enjoying the confrontation towards the end...brought a :-) to her face...

  • lol so funne

  • :D Good morning Jim! We are live at the fire zone this morning.... :)

    lolz

  • hardly a "blooper", that was awesome. go anchor dude.

shouldn't the tenants be compensated for six weeks of construction on top of their heads?!

what if you work nights? and have to sleep through this? people are losing all their rights in this country, capitalism is not in the constitution, the bill of rights is!

  • Damn it I saw this last year, and still wondering what Anabelle DeMillo was saying about the firezone at the end :(

  • The Anchor was out of line. The reporter should have went back to the station and beat the crap out of him..lol

  • No doubt the inspiration for Herb Welch on SNL. "I'm not going take orders from a can of hair spray!"

  • When Grandpa's attack!

  • Jim Ryan is such a dirty old man

  • lol even the headline was fit xD

  • Very unprofessional but amusing !!

  • i wish that guy was my grandpa

  • Why was this even a story? The job was going to get done eventually, not to mention, she herself lived on the first floor so why was SHE concerned about it? If anything it should of been one of the tenants on the upper floors

  • You know they had sex after they found a solution to the problem....I'm talking about the anchorman and the reporter, typical love hate relationship

  • ZING!

  • look at that piece of shit in the background at 0:54 in the vid thumbing her back to her room. I hope she saw that in the mirror

  • So, how did the guy get demoted to reporter?

  • ha,ha,ha,ha. reporter's a moron.

  • I saw this live when it happened and never ever forgot this. Jim Ryan was a pretty damn good dude - he did have a biting wit though. Oliver could be a bit of an ass at times - myabe a bit lazy. But they did work great during 9/11. Oliver was nr the towers - and were the 1st to break the story.

  • @manatole1981 Did this happen before 911?

  • @calimar28 I am 99.99% sure it was.

  • Seems like the army. They want you to do something without saying what you are expected to do.

  • I love how the lady just starts laughing at their petty bullshit

  • lol the anchor was an ass... but still, maybe reporter was an ass before when he was his boss and got some payback??

  • i believe the guy with the white hair

  • the anchor getting the last word was such a crushing blow. the reporter will never get over that, never. harsh.

  • The lady in the back is getting a kick out of this. hahaha. :D

  • you noticed that?
