i concentrate on keeping my shoulders still, but i drag the plate across my knees, and over to the sides without touching the floor, in one slow motion. Kind of a core movement. I use a 25lb plate, and focus on the entire abdonimnal area
everyone at my gym does it different to this method i've seen, but i admit that using this method of @chriszfit has improved my definition more than the method the other guys normally use. thank you
@ChrisZFit Exactly what I thought, I was just curious as to what you thought. Having your feet off the ground won't work your obliques harder will it? Just works more on stabilization and balance?
@LEECOHRT Start off slow 3 times a week. Keep sets between 10 and 15, reps between 12 and 15. As you get used to that, you can start increasing the number of sets that you do and decreasing your reps. Good luck!
Boo yah! Thanks :) I been doin it right. I try to keep my spine extended though so I feel it more on the obliques. But I don't recommend, if I go too far to the sides & mess up, my back can hurt like a bitch.
Ok, you have great abs and def know what you're talking about. Just watched a video where a dude was like, "You muscle is 78% protein", so nice to have valid info.
Great info and tips. Great help as well. Thanks Chrissy. I'd been doing it wrong but i'll get it right after watching your informative video. Appreciated it.
@zrelish You need to challenge the obliques, so you want to go until you almost reach fatigue. However, if you can do over 20-25 reps, then you need to find a way to make the exercise more challenging
I hate when some of these "personal trainer" are so sexy...because im really trying to learn but my mind just goes blank when they look so damn good like this :P
@InsectRoboOverlord keeping your head in line with your torso and not having it stay looking ahead the whole time will put less strain through your neck and upper back
The other error I seen all the time is that people want to keep their head stationary. You did it perfect with the head traveling with the rest of the spine.
@bJkimbell Deadlifts. This kind of thing only helps you so much. Golfers should have a strong overall body to perform well. Doing compound lifts such as the deadlift will strengthen not only your core, but the rest of your body as well.
@theman1819 Of course you do you idiot, not exactly bodybuilder style core but the twist motion of the swing is obviously going to be helped by core excercise
NASA has yet to invent a scientific term to correctly describe your abs. That said, would this be as or more effective on a ball? Also, even though the abs are just one muscle group, I still notice the lower part just not "getting there". Any thoughts?
Thanks for the workout videos! Any chance you could give some advice on nutrition? I'm curious what kind of nutrition plan you follow to keep such a lean body.
the muscles get stronger when you rest, not when you workout, so by letting them rest, you allow them to get stronger and then can work them out again
Chrissy, i thought U were kinda thin, & then U picked up that ball, & the MUSCLES & veins in your (ARMS), amazed me, seeing U BEAT my girlfriend in the ARMS!, who is an amateur bodybuilder, also. U have BEAUTIFUL (ARMS) on U, WOW!
Thank you Chrissy, this is very clear and well-explained. I've been doing a variant of this exercise, but not exactly this movement - but you can bet I'll be adding it to my routine!
i get a bit of a sting on my lower back but its not sore. also get a tight feel at the bottom of my stomach also and some sting at the sides does this mean its working ?

I've been doing them all the way to the ground. Is this dangerous, or why do you recommend stopping at 45 degrees?
Also, is it reasonable/helpful to lift the feet off the ground a bit while doing the russian twist?
ghubing 1 year ago
@ghubing Lifting your feet helps you use your stabilizers more and makes you focus on your balance more.....so that's fine.
As for stopping at 45 degrees, if you go lower, most of the rotation is happening in the arms, not the obliques,

Thanks for your answer, i like this workout.
But i have another question.
I really enjoy training my abs everyday, not like you with the machines but just at home with the basic exercises.
Now someone told me that is not good, and that you need a restday in between , is that right? And what is the reason for that?
Thanks again !!!
