  • I like the guy cocking his head at 1:31

  • This is our basketball team's entrance theme! PEP BAND IS AWESOME!!

  • DAMN Otis' dancer in the middle and that blond @ 1:47 so hot hot hot....

  • that's the price we pay for evolving.

  • @luviananna Now it's all Rap this rap that crap.....lazier than actually singing.

  • Blues Brothers, y'all...this makes me want to drive through a mall.

  • It reminds me of junior high school dances where the white kids were on one side of the gym and the black kids were on the other with few exceptions The difference in dancing was much more noticable than it is today I don't know the reason exactly but most white kids had no rhythem I was white and I loved black musci but many white kids dismissed it as nigger music this was in NY in the very early 60s Winds of Change

  • God bring him back to earth we need him the last 45 years have been a mess.

  • " Hip shakin' mama" .....seriously.....how bad was this mother fucker right here? Otis was, and is, the man! Him, Sam Cooke, Marvin, Al Green.....no one today can bring it like those guys!

  • That pops like canary yellow out of cobalt blue

  • Go Cosby! LOL

  • OOOOOooooo .... weeeEEEE

  • Best part of the video...the countless white people clapping off beat. Thanks for repping white people well!

  • @Berlon hahahaha I was just thinking the SAME thing.

  • @Berlon This stereotype only exists in America. In the UK we have tons of white soul singers and there's no racial divide in music. Blacks sing in all white rock bands(Noisettes), and whites sing soul with black backing singers(Winehouse) - Should be the same here, support peoples talent rather than damning it. Not like people in the UK are a different species. Check out Jamiroquai and tell me whites are off beat.

  • @Veyro I'm not saying all white people have no rhythm. But if you watch the video, and look at the audience during those parts, just about every single one is clapping off beat.

I would gladly support people's talent if they have it. But the audience members clapping off beat don't have talent. Chill out Dr. King.

  • @Berlon I was mostly responding to 'Thanks for repping white people well!' and I'm not annoyed at what you said, just responding with accuracy. You don't often hear people saying that whites have no rhythm in the UK but you hear it all the time here in the US. It's to do with an attitude, rather than genes aye?

  • @Berlon They're Brits, such sots. What do you expect? LOL.

  • @Berlon well at least white people went out to support him, maybe thats why he was voted male rock vocalist over elvis during that time period. rather than make fun of peoples rhythm, look at the bigger picture, black people, support your black artist, by the way, im an artist, and im black.

  • somebody's watching those dancing girls and saying "Damn!! Grandmama was smokin'!"

  • he doesnt look like hes in his 20's lol

  • 9 persons disliked this? No! They were dancing and hit the wrong button :D

  • They broke my watch

  • This is smokin' for 2 minutes !!!! keep hitting replay !!***

  • Jon Bon Jovi and Lea Michele will cover this song in the upcoming feature film NEW YEARS EVE!

  • Otis' Dancers are BADASS..

  • "Our dead are never dead to us, until we have forgotten them"

    Still the greatest Otis.

  • This is all you had to do to stay fit back in the day...no gym memberships necessary...no dieting...eat what you want...just go dance it off. Great workout. Just look at Otis' dancers.

  • Otis was the real deal, baby!

  • they are "GETTIN" it!!!! heyyyyy (^_^)

  • Wish I was there to bad I am 18 now instead of than when music was music

  • This song aired 17 years before I was born and I'm white. But.....I love me some soul. Good song man. Real hip shaker.

  • The 60's were just so chock-full of awesome music. I was too young to experience it firsthand, but nevertheless my iPod is probably about 80% sixties music. Nothing tops it.

  • i mjet otis about a week before he died. i still have his autograph signed "the glory of love, otis redding." i grew up on this stuff and love it still.

  • This is our legacy of real black music

  • otis rips it upon this mother f--ker!!!!!!

  • How can you stand still while listening to this?

  • @samhsimms you can't stand still...and i'm 61,,,,

  • @samhsimms ask the guy at 1:35

  • @samhsimms :D

  • Poor Otis.

Dock of the Bay went to #1 just after Otis went down in the plane crash.

What a talent, what a shame.

    Love you man

  • Eso es bailar! :D

  • When horns were horns and performers performed .................. LOVE IT

  • JOEY THE LIPS!!

  • Just one other thing, I almost forgot...Otis! Nurse! Nuuuuuurseeee! I can't keep still, I'm shaking soooo baaaaaaaaaaaaaad.....

  • The music of all cultures originates in oral tradition, ths rhythms, melodies and lyrical poems are passed on by word of mouth. It's up to the youth to take these elements and to interpret them contemporarily. What we're force fed through the TV etc today is no different to the black American entrepaneurs of the 50s and 60s. You just have to look around for the kids with soul, seek and ye shall find. It's not taboo to go back if you foget.

  • Fantastic! Otis was THE MAN!!!! Added to favourites!

  • cool : )

  • I was just thinking about how many men were drooling over those 70-year-old women. The two black chicks dancing are damned fine also.

  • yoooooo, the middle dancer was cute...the blonde in the front row had great tits too.

  • 60s pussy is the best pussy.

  • @2ndAsstJizzMopper I was born in 76 but I bet the 60's p---- was the best because nowadays if u aint careful yo penis might explode. lmao

  • Nice tune but doesn't really compare to the single - Otis makes the same mistake a lot of 60s pop acts did in trying to speed up the tempo when playing live.

  • @AllBobsAllTheTime Interesting... it may have been an issue with the way they were recorded...if you pick up the 25th anniversary version of The Kids are Alright, one of the big changes was that they remastered some of the old TV appearances to correct for this. Just like here, it isnt off enough to sound HORRIBLE but when you compare them side by side (as they do in the extras) it is very noticable

  • "Ready Steady Go" was the best British pop show ever!

  • Loved Otis since I was 13 and when he was only played on black "Soul" stations in NY like WWRL WLIB and WNJR but soon he was all over the radio dial on the NY rock and roll stations I just wish I had seen him I did get to see Wilson Pickett and James Brown We cut school took an express train and 45 minutes later we were in front of the Apollo on 125th st. the audience went crazy even blonde haired blue eyed me

  • why cant music back then still be like this today.. >:(

  • How good are the dancers !

  • thats a super nice slingerland drum set.

  • Hey everybody - not all 60's music was brilliant & not all modern music is shit.

This is terrific by Otis but I didn't like Tramp or Dock Of The Bay. And I liked nothing by Cliff Richards or Neil Sedaka in the 60's.

And I just loved 'Hey Ya' by Outkast from 2003.

And to quote Bill Grundy's interview with the Sex Pistols - Go on ... Say something outrageous. (i.e. swear at me lol)

  • Go Blue!

  • The backup dancers are getting down.

  • i think that the rain man clapping on 1:28 in the black suit. lol

  • Interesting to watch the audience. Most people were cultured to be reserved instead of cuttin' loose and gettin' down with the tunes. We spectators have lost this refinement...thankfully! Live it...love it!

    :-P

  • Green onions in Hertford UK every month- you know what I mean ;-)

  • wow that middle backup dancer is fine as fuck, shes probly an old saggy grandma now though ay

  • Country-ass Mother-F'er was one of the most exciting live performers in the

history of Soul music, so raw & powerful!

Duck Dunn said he never had to play so fast until Otis cranked it into

high gear during this live recording!!!!

  • I remember Otis's plane went down in Dec 1967, Dock of the Bay went to #1 on AM radio.

I went to college down south and Otis, Sam And Dave, Wilson Pickett, James Brown and lesser artist's ruled the air waves and the cover bands of this era played these tunes at fraternity parties all over the south.

I have fond memories of those years, Otis died way too young, he was a true major talent.

Thanks UTube for posting this and all the other artists from that magic era.

  • My dad played this song in his band a long time a while

  • God, please, can we have Otis back? You can take Justin Bieber in exchange.

  • @powderchowder2 LOL omg i know right!

  • @powderchowder2 That there is funny! I agree

  • @powderchowder2 That there is funny! I agree

  • @powderchowder2

Sounds great to me. We'll even throw in Ashley Simpson for free.

  • @powderchowder2 No shit, music these days should be flushed down the drain!!!

  • @powderchowder2 I like your style!

  • @powderchowder2 ,

    Lord's driving a hard bargain.

Wants us to toss Ashton Kutcher into the deal.

    Yes???

  • @powderchowder2 LOL, ROTF,

  • @powderchowder2 Excellent!!!

  • @powderchowder2 not even satan would want to take JB back.

  • @powderchowder2 god si crackin up at your proposition!

  • @powderchowder2 I will pay for that.....not to proud to beg , Bring Otis back!!!!!!

  • WOW...I thought this was just a song made for the Blues Brothers film ONLY!! I had no idea this song existed before the film.

  • @MsMaestro00 C'mon dude, Akroyd was a canadian. When was the last time a canadian had soul? Haven't you seen south park? Canadian's heads aren't even attached to their jaw.

  • @TTmaniax Oooookay...and what exactly does Akroyd have to do with me NOT knowing that this song existed before the movie???? Your reply makes NO sense....and on that note, GOOD NIGHT!

  • WOW...This has just brought a massive smile to my face.....The energy!!! :))

  • @tinamarie11000

I JUST THOUGHT THE SAME THING

  • the greatest of them all. Soul music in person. RIP

  • Otis Redding "Rocked'

  • O how I love this "big fine hunk of a man", I was a baby when Mr Otis Redding passed. I seriously wish he was born in my generation.......Thank God for youtube, so I can watch him and wonder just how big he would have become had he lived longer.

  • Gotta go find a mall and drive in it.

  • THE BAND IS KICKIN !

  • Rhere is a good clip featuring Sandy dancing with a very underrated group of the time, Cliff Bennett and the Rebel rousers.

Search in youtube for Cliff Bennett & the Rebel Rousers: I Take What I Want

  • Never heard the original version of this before, it's great! Really gets you goin'!

  • This song has ALWAYS given me a big,kick-in-the-ass lift. That's what great music does!!

  • I pity anybody that ever had to follow Otis Redding onto a stage.

  • The king of soul..Brilliant!

  • those dancer are hot and can groove as good as any dnacer today...awesome bodies......;)

  • OTIS ..... MY MAN !!

Bass player just groovin and the drummer reminds me of Buddy Miles just a cement mixer churning it out with that killer horn section ... and what about those three hotties dancin' ? !! And Otis... I would pay big money to see a show like that !

  • otis my man

  • The best footage I've ever seen of Otis, along with Shake that he sings straight after this. Unbelievable-picked up theofficla video in a random second hand shop in Hull, best thing I ever bought.

  • i think i must have been alive then and just came back. I have this old soul. I LOVE this.

  • The excitement is palpable here Otis was as great as can be and that middle dancer knocks me out!!!

  • @kevindlinc Sandy Sarjeant . Search her on YouTube... she was a well known dancer and singer

  • @VZ935 Spot on bro...sandy it is ..man she could groove...

  • @VZ935 Here's something I'm dying to find out- In the movie Bedazzled (original 1967 version), there is a scene that mimics "Ready, Steady, Go". One of the dancers in the scene resembles Sandy Sargeant. Can anyone verify that it is her in the movie. The clip is on YouTube. Just search " Bedazzled Drimble Wedge & The Vegetations"

  • @hankaaron1961 That movie was made in the UK and she was the premier dancer then..looks like her at .21-.23 seconds in .

  • MOD CLASSIC

  • Hey all, when you get a chance check out my cover of Otis' Sittin On The Dock Of The Bay, just click on thecallofthewildband and let me know what you think :) Man, he inspires me to sing haha
