  • can yoou make one for march or st. patricks day!!!

  • these are the CUTEST things I have EVER seen! it's 1am but I'm dying to go down to my kitchen to make some of these cute little guys! I've got just the right amount of yellow black and white fondant left over haha. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work with us, I make cakes for family and friends and I get alot of tips from your wonderful vids! :)

  • @youinspiredthisone14

yay! post them here ! or on my facebook wall. id love to see them ! the ones who have made bees following this tutorial have all made really nice and neat bees!!!

  • Thank you for making this video. You are so patient and gifted.

I can't wait to make my first bee!!!

  • Mayen, can you tell me what that little bag is that you use to flower the table when you roll out the fondant icing? Laura

  • @laurademunter

it's a powdering/dusting bag- you can make it yourself by using a clean hankerchief.. now i use a powdering /dusting container from wilton

you can use 100% powdered sugar or 50-50 with cornstarch

  • I love your ork and how you teach, I learned a lot from you

  • @cami123321

    thanks a lot

  • How far ahead of time can I make these? I wanted to make them for V-day cupcakes.

  • @candijones2680

you can make these days even weeks ahead . when they have fully dried, they are meant as decor only and to be kept as mementos - if they want to. once it's really dry they are really hard and wont be good to eat

  • this looks really nice. but isn't it abit unhealthy? I mean. fondant is basically sugar...

  • @ErtyWertyQwerty

is it unhealthy bec it is sugar? this type of decor hardly gets eaten-it's designed to dry hard and to be used as decor only. besides, sugar itself is not unhealthy - if one overconsumes anything- that is unhealthy .

what makes it special is the fact that it is mainly sugar and you can custom make any shape/character you like with your own hands.

  • Ahh.. Ok. Thanks for all your fondant tutorials anyway, they are beautiful.

  • OMG !!!! So nice job n so gud video n so clear explanation !!! Hope u post more like "how to make a ladybird from fondant", etc..

  • You are extremely creative! Thank-you for sharing!

  • uugggh adorable.....!

  • clean work

    love it ^ ^

  • This is so cute Thanks for the idea!!!

  • fondant is edible its like icing

  • You do really good work!

  • your video is great :)

  • Woah! They're amazing!

But I don't understand if that are eatable.

If they are.. what's fondant? Fondant chocolate?!

    Sorry for my ignorance. ):

  • Hi Mayen...could you do a video on how you make the bunny rabbits?....thank you

  • yea yew should do a video on how to make a bunny...please:))

  • i love all of your videos!

  • Very cute! ...thanks!

  • aaaaaaaah soooooooo sweeeeeeet

  • OMG! those r so cute!

    Love them!

  • Thanks for the wonderfull How-to!

    Very clear.

  • they look so cute! :]

  • QUESTION! can u eat them after u build them?

  • these dry real hard -- so, while they are technically edible -- you wouldnt want to eat them after they have dried. BUT if you just made them and placed them on the cake, they can be eaten bec it takes a bit for them to completely dry.

  • so basically... if ur gonna eat the bumble bee, eat it ASAP (after u make it lol)?

  • super cute.. i love the bees but not REAL bees.. imma try it this weekend

  • BTW, I can't believe your child just sits there and watches you! That's amazing. I have to work while my children are sleeping. ;o )

  • Those bees are adorable! I noticed that you have your powdered sugar in a bag. Where did you find that? Thanks!

  • i made it - a new hankerchief -- and i tied the ends with rubber band :) for me the best dusting powder is a mix of 50% powdered sugar and 50% cornstarch :)

  • it's like playing with play doh =)

  • Poking his poor little eyes out with a stick!!! LOL

    What size is that tip?

    Thanks:)

    BOP

  • i think it's the smallest one available... i have to find this for you ...

  • Delightful, thank you.

  • kool bees

  • your awsome!

  • how did u get the fondant that dark black it takes me 4ever to do so

  • i bought black ready made fondant. but if you are only going to use the black for these parts , it will be cheaper to just get edible black marker and color it in when it's dry

  • SOOOO CUTE!!!

  • Very cute, great idea for cutting out circles for eyes. Thank you. Jeani

  • awesome!!! I am making a bug themed cake for my daughter's second bday next month and will be using your techniques...thank you

  • Thanks, this was really great. I will try to create the bees my self. I've seen these bees on a cake or cupcakes made for the show "The Singing Bee".

  • Ahhh... I like it!! it's sooooo cute :D!!! Do you also work as an cakemaker??? ( I don't know the exact word) I really love the way you are making it :].. Keep going on like this :D

  • Thats so cute, thank you!!

  • when they dry, are they gonna be rock hard? lol are you suppose to decorate/eat them when they are still soft or do you have to wait untill they get hard?

btw, you did an awesome job! theyre adorible!!

  • when they dry they are going to be real hard... so these things are not usually eaten... same thing goes for flowers or figures... it's the ability to personalize and customize the decor using sugar that kinda got me hooked into making these.not so much the taste bec they dont get eaten at all

  • I love them! I just wanted to mention that Vodka works better than water at sticking the fondant together. It melts the sugar so they stick better. I learned this in a cake decorating class.

    Keep up the great work!

  • ToTaLLY aWeSoMe..

BuT i DoN THiNK i CaN GeT THoSe STuFF iN MY CouNTRY..

  • It's called fondant- or sugarpaste. i have actually corresponded with several people from your country and they have made and used fondant there too. you can make it - with marshmallows and powdered sugar. i have a video on that too. some use marzipan to make figures too

  • hi , i think all your cakes are fab.. i am totally inspired .. but i don;t get most of the colors where i live so very sad...

but great job ... love your work..

  • Woa, this is great. And you have a very sweet voice, too.

Thank you for this. I wiant to practive so bad. In my country we do not have the fondant thing so I never know this. This is soooo cool. Thanks

  • Great instructions, thank you so much!

  • Hi Mayen - your videos are fantastic - thank you. What size tip did you use for the eyes?? Many thanks.

  • hello mayen..do you think you can teach us how to make a fondant ladybird?

  • its lyk im watching a baking/cuking show from tv=)

  • your bees are so cute.

    :D

  • simply wonderful!!! thank you!

  • Hi, you're a genius! Now somewhere in the video I saw you dusting the surface (I am suuming that's for the icing sugar so that the fondant don't stick to the surface) What material did you fill the sugar/cornflour with so it can be used like a 'puff'. I think that's such a good idea since when I sprinkle that on a surface, there always tend to be too much or not enough:(

  • you can use either icing sugar ( also called powdered sugar or confectioner's sugar) alone or a combination or 50% icing sugar and 50% cornstarch or cornstarch alone. i usually use the 50-50 one and it's perfect :)

  • can u make more how to videos ?? ^-^

    thanxs

  • ahhh!! thank you so muchh! your bees are so cuteee! Well, this is my first year taking culinary in high school, and I really want to bake a nice cake for someone very special. I decided to work with fondant instead of icing, cuz my first cake didn't really turn out well with icing.. >.> and after watching like 20 vdos today on how to decorate a cake, i think fondant can give me the variety of shapes i want on the cake. This vdo will surely help me with the cake ^^ thank you againn!! :D

  • Hi! I'm a proud kababakayan of yours from Down Under... I saw your other videos... you're so talented! I'm planning to make my daughter's 1st birthday cake of Feb. I hope I can master making a fondant cake before that. The videos you post are really inspirational. Keep doing the good work. CHeers!

  • hi your so great..and the bumble bee is so great...im just learning how to make a fondant..because i want to make beautiful cakes someday..thank you..

  • hi umm i need to make my little brother a bubble bee cake but we do not know how to make fondant:[ may i ask where u get the fondant or how you make it? thank you so much bb

  • hii you can buy fondant at A.C. more if u have one where u live :]

  • IF you want to make your own fondant, you are going to do itwith marshmallow.. 1-. Buy a big package of white marshmallow, 2 or 3 tablespoons of water, some crisco or butter and powder sugar. 2-.Put your marshmallows in a bowl and add the water to it and microwave it until its liquid. 3-. Pour in on a surface that already has butterand powder sugar and start kneading your fondant until it looks like playdoh. And ready! All you have to do isleave it on your fridge until you use it.

  • Oh, I wish I had found you sooner. I made bees for a beehive cake (twice), but yours are so much more creative. Oh well, hopefully someone will ask me for bumble bees - if not, someone is going to get them without asking. All of your videos are so helpful. Thank you for sharing.

  • What an amazing video!! You are so creative!! These are the cutest little bumble bees ever!!

  • I love to watch your Videos,I am making the bee today have never used Fondant. I made some Marshmallow Fondant up last night.Hope it works.

  • Hello, I love your videos, I think they are great and you are a very nice instructor.

I love those bumble bees and I was thinking of making them for my nieces birthday, but I wanted other creatures, how would you make a lady bug or a butterfly??

I'm sorry if I'm asking for much, you can only give me an idea if you want.

Thank you form this video and please keep them coming!

  • Thanks ! Im going to work on making a ladybug & butterfly for you --- i havent tried that yet...but if it comes out decent enough, ill post it ok :)

  • Thanks for posting. That is too cute! You're talented girl.

  • thank you so much :)

  • Absolutely adorable - but you mentioned Wilton food coloring. Wilton also sells rolled fondant, *and I feel stupid for asking* but do they sell that at Michaels?

  • thank you...and it's absolutely okay to ask :) -- they do sell the wilton rolled fondant at micheals...some walmart stores have it too. Their rolled fondant comes in white, and smaller packs of colored sets ( pastels, bright solid colors, browns&black)

  • Thanks for the help! I went to michaels and got stuff to make fondant! ^^

  • hii Ive always wanted to make a cake out of fondat :] um when u bought it was it like little packs or biggggg packs of fondant to cover the cake? plz response<3 (: thank u soooo much.

  • the ready made fondant comes in two pound tubs... or boxes... some also offer 5 pound tubs / boxes. online you can get it at 20 pounds. now a two pound fondant will be enough to cover a small cake. if making 2 tiers , medium sized cakes, be safe and get the 5 pound fondant.

  • ohh ok thank u so much mayen :] i love your videos sooo much and your cakes are soooo adorable ^_^ If i get the 2 pound tubes will it be enough to also make little decorations also? and does fonant taste good O_O i never tried it before hehe thanks so much mayeb<3 (:

  • if you get the 2 punds, it may not be enough -- this is just me speaking-- becuase i always want a bit for back up in case i mess up. if you are making a 6 inch cake--one layer. it will be enough. and fondant tastes alright. i like my swiss buttercream better, but the buttecream icing will not showcase my cake like fondant can. so aside from being icing, fondant is the all time classy cake wrapper :)

  • ohh haha yeah. Thanks soooo much. Your very helpful :] ill try to make a video if i make a cake ^__^ i love bakinggggg itss so much fun :) thanks mayen!!! you make beatiful cakes =]

  • Keep up the good work, you have discovered your niche...Excellent

  • I am honored with your comment :) Thank you :)

  • hi there.. can i know u use fondant or sugarpaste?? n how u dry the bee?? n how long it will last? tanks for sharing.. thumbs up!! (n_n)v

  • i believe fondant and sugarpaste are the same thing . the other substance you can use is gumpaste ( which dries faster ). you just air dry it overnight or a couple of days ... then you can store it in an airtight container. well, how long this will last is indefinite...i tried looking it up for you-- but it says it can last for years, doesn't really a definite number. hope that helps! :) and thanks !

  • OMG, They are SOOO cute! The cake you did with the hive and bees is my favorite!!! The bees are just too cute. I am am so glad you posted this, I was wondering how you made these. BTW, I looked up Debbie Browns hive cake. And yours is much cuter than hers! :0)

I love the colors you used as well.

Keep up the good work. thanks for the videos.

  • OMG I can't believe you said that !!! I could die right now ! Thanks for appreciating this... Debbie Brown is great in making all sorts of stuff and if I could get a tenth of her talent, Id die happy... but if someone sees my work andlikes it as much as you did-- that is the BEST feeling EVER!!!

  • thts soooo cute my aunt made bees just like those only w/ little stingrs hehe

  • that's great ! i love seeing others make these little buzzy bees, especially when they take a different spin on making it :)

  • THank you so much for the tips....I really appretiate it...!! Great job!!!!
