It's not the last independent high street in the UK, not even in Bristol, Whiteladies Rd, Gloucester Rd, Park Street, Stapleton Rd all within about 10 mins walk, all prodominantly independent or small chain and all co exist with supermarket chains. (If you go to london, every high street i've seen in kilburn, brixton, notting hill and finsbury park are the same). The main problem with SC at the moment is the huge number squatters and

I understand about stopping a giant, but you'll all end up shopping there...and the best way to stop giants like Tesco, is to NOT shop there! Not to protest and get arrested, it doesnt work...You gotta hit em where it hurts!
