I know Danielson is a small guy, I don't care if a guy is small, I'm small, I'm 5'11" and will get to about 200 before I max out.
You understand psychology, that's good, but the problem is, wrestlers don't. I hope you didn't mean the wrestlers can't not give a shit about the crowd because the whole point, the ONLY point of being a wrestler is to draw butts, or else it doesn't matter how much fun you're having, you won't get booked.
I'm smaller than you (and at a greater disadvantage as far as using psychology goes) because I'm a woman.
Are you picking up what I'm putting down? JUST BECAUSE I DON'T AGREE WITH YOU DOESN'T MEAN I DON'T UNDERSTAND PSYCHOLOGY. I'm just saying Ricochet and all those guys are doing a good job of keeping ppl entertained w/o using psychology your way (there's more than one way).
Remind me not to bring up complex examples as they have confused you into thinking I don't understand psychology.
No, I understand what you're saying, you're saying that they're using a different way to entertain people. What I'm saying is that they CAN use highspots like they do and still use psychology to better themselves. When you're small, the story of the match is already written. Mysterio was maybe 10 pounds bigger than Ricochet in the mid 90's, but he used psychology and spots, you should use the best of both worlds and not just one, that's what I'm saying because you reach more people.
The Japanese crowds have always been quiet, they popped big for Misawa and Kawada because they did cool moves, but had psychology and story behind it. I can't stand watching most NOAH Juniors because it's just "spot, short term sell, spot, short term sell" and you don't even give a shit by the end, it gets rediculous and you lose your suspension of disbelief.
See, the problem with only doing cool moves is that if you are only known for doing a double moonsault, and let's face it, a LOT of people only know Riccochet becuse of that, as soon as someone else does a phoenix double moonsault, he'll be forgotten about. Small guys in the midcard stay there because they're one dimensional, it's why guys get outdated, it's why Amazing Red isn't shit anymore and Bryan Danielson still is.
Are you even reading what I'm typing? I KNOW the importance of psychology. I'm just saying wrestlers can do what ever the fuck they want they probably don't give a shit about what you think.
And sometimes to wrestle you HAVE to not give a shit because you can't please everyone all the time. Hell, I'm a girl and I wanted to be a wrestler but I knew I'd never make it anywhere big so if I do it'll be for my fun and enjoyment ONLY it HAS to be.
Dude did you watch RAW when Londrick were a team? The only time they got a pop was after some cool moves-The Hardyz too. Hardly anyone in the E is getting loud pops, pay attention; current wrestling is lacking in proper pacing of angles to get any kind of payoff that matters. Everything moves too fast.
I'm going to Adrian Street's school; beat that shit. :P
PS the only Japanese crowds I've ever seen erupt are AJW and JWP crowds 1986-1997. :P
Londrick got cheers NOT pops, watch the Al Snow shoot, when they did cool moves because they built them up. They didn't just get little applauses like they do in the indies. The Hardy's have charisma, like Jeff has rockstar charisma, your cool moves are SUPPOSED to get loud cheers, the problem is that a lot of times in the indies, they just get polite applauses because they don't build up to them.
A pop is a pop. The applause thing only comes from a misguided attempt to make indy wrestling more like puroresu by smart fans.
I think you just re-itterated my point; cool moves build people up. All I'm saying is if you're a wrestler and the audience is entertained you've done your job. And w/o psychology Ricochet has done his job.
Most smarks forget that it's about entertaining the ppl that pay to see you; that's the bottom line running up a wall and crazy ass moves does that.
NO, watch the Al Snow shoot, the original definition of a pop was basically the crowd equivelant of an orgasm. It's the peak, you build up, let them go down, build up, let them go down, then build up and then give them want they want and they "cum" as Al said. The term has been bastardized.
Don't call them "smart" fans because they aren't, they are "spot marks." What I'm saying is that he could be even more entertaining and to more people if he added psychology along with cool moves.
agreed, I wonder when the last time they enjoyed a match because they were emotionally attached instead of just "OMG, MOOVEZ" "holy shit holy shit holy shit"
wow, I hope you're not serious. Why don't you tell Samoa Joe and CM Punk that. Tell Bryan Danielson while you're at is. Also, why don't you tell the entire WWE roster and their fans, because they use crowd psychology. In the WWE, if you know what you're looking for, you see it, guys like JBL and even Cena use it, it's simple, but it's effective. Psychology is only a dead art in high school gyms of 50 people watching 120 pound gymnists pretend to be wrestlers.
I obviously don't mean the guys who do it (Punk, Joe, Danielson, JBL, Regal, HBK etc.,) I mean the guys that don't. Why the hell would I be talking about the wrestlers that use it (some of the women are good at it too: LuFisto; Melissa, Knox)?! The sad thing is what made those wrestlers stand out IS their psychology bc no one else is doing it meaning that guys who know how to use it are in the minority on the scene and on TV that means not enough people are seeing it to learn it.
BTW don't hate on these guys for not looking a certain way; they know they're not bound for WWE, if you're gonna start wrestling you have to do it for YOURSELF and no one else. They're having fun so fuck what they should look like and "pretending" in a gymnasium of 50 ppl (bigger show does NOT equal quality; those ppl are entertained and everyone's having fun. Chucky T knows psychology; although it works in reverse for him; traumatizing kids gets him approval.
You said psychology is dead, you were very, VERY wrong. Psychology is the difference between a good worker and a cool move. The reason Shelton is put in matches with guys like Punk, is because Shelton only does cool moves, they don't mean shit and don't connect unless put with psychology.
Riccochette will never make it any farther than he has without psychology. He can do all the double backflips he wants, but he MUST add psychology.
I know that, why do you think I made that comment on this vid? But he probably KNOWS that and DOESN'T want to go to the E (he's still young and everything can change)some wrestlers don't want to get in the E. But all that doesn't mean it isn't fun to see Ricochet live. WWE makes wrestlers play to the camera instead of the crowd in attendance; that's doesn't exactly breed proper psychology and that's part of why it's dying besides cool moves being the only way for undercard guys to get a pop.
Btw, over the last two years I've seen Ricochet's selling improve so who's to say he can't turn into an El Blazer or something. It's too early in his career to deem him unworthy.
You don't get it dude, I don't give a shit if you don't want to go to the E. I'm going to be a wrestler, I'm going to Harley Race's academy, I want to wrestle in Japan, but ANYWHERE you go there is psychology. That's what you're not getting. "Cool moves" don't get a pop, a pop isn't a polite applause, a 'pop' is an eruption when you finally give the crowd the pay off.
