Nuclear weapons of today measure in kilotons (a factor of 1000 less) The explosion you are talking about would level several cities, and leave a noticeable dent in whatever region it took place in.

Nuclear plant could never blow up like a nuclear bomb. You need Uranium/plutonium core to reach a "Critical mass" and they do that by using powerful explosives lined up around the plutonium core that all detonate at the exact same time to force critical mass. Nuclear power plant can't have this, people just assume so because it says "Nuclear" and they relate it to "Nuclear bomb". Instead of doing research of course

After the Chernobyl accident, there was great concern that melted down nuclear fuel and graphite would reach a pool of water in the basement of the plant. If that happened, the reaction would have yielded a 3-5 megaton bomb leveling the area and covering europe with radiation. What happens in this game is possible.

What I said (In case you havent gone back over it with your glasses) was that a reaction between pooled water and molten uranium or other nuclear fuels would result in a explosion (steam type) with similar effects to that of a nuclear bomb (Shockwave and radiation fallout).
