Parents should make their kids aware of what exists in the world.Specifically with the swearing, kids should know that these words are out there, what they mean expressively, and that there are times and places for such words, because they are just that - words. Kids need to understand that their actions aren't always wrong nearly as much as they can hurt other people's feelings and offend other people. You can't shield your kid forever.
