i agree with your advice completely. also, though, i use "point" in the offensive zone for a point pass, and either "bump it" or "up" if they are pressuring deep d.
Another point is to think of a triangle in the defensive zone, the three points, the faceoff dots and the goal. In the defensive zone, the puck should NEVER be passed through that unless there is no opposing pressure.
I am not saying this to critique your work, just getting more information for people watching.
We won our last game, out of 8 teams in our divison we finished in 7th place! better than last bro! super fun, super fun.
Well for now I'll be playing Roller pick up games (Free) At the park they have an open Roller rink w/nets (cool huh?) And uh.. wana give me some more advice bro? what happened? u alright there mang? give it up bro, do something Productive- for hockey at least.
part 4 of my comment (Scroll down, read them in the order I wrote them)
So I want to some how learn how to play hockey (Theory) on my own time, so when i go to games I'm improving & the guys can play w/me w/out getting frustrated & screaming like little children? it's ridiculous some times..
And like, I just found out what hacking was a couple months ago. Some guy wanted to fight me over it. I was like "Dude? I didn't know I couldn't do that?" It's cause I don't play in a league, help me :)
Well, that's how most people learn the game - a little at a time. Just like you said - play, get advice (or yelled at ;) sometimes) and there's another note in your knowledge of the game.
Two other good ways to learn are watching how other folks play your position and getting video of yourself. Nice work on using YouTube to improve your game too.
Best thing: bring a postive attitude and don't be afraid to say "sorry, I'm still learning the game."
thanks bro, I am honestly the nicest guy there. out of the 20 or so regulars that show up to these pick up games, unfortunately almost 100% of them are super childish, some of these guys are in their 30's & 40's & they scream cuss words if they fall on their shin pad? or they'll scream a cuss word if i make a simple mistake? these guys have sucky personalities, some of them anyway, there are like 4 guys- totally cool.. but, i have questions bro. can I ask you questions? your my only hope
here goes part 3 of my comment. read from bottom to top of my comments.
So i keep going to games, & I never really learn anything new, I mean I get better at what I do. But like, I played for months w/out even knowing I'm suppose to keep a " Square" (we play 4 on 4) Square= 2 defense in back, 2 offense in front. I was just chasing the puck everywhere. Til some guy yelled at me & said to keep a square. ever since i've got it down! (that part atleast) & so on..
here goes part 2 of my comment, read the first one first.
but I played hockey when i was age 12-14, quit, than started again in like july of '08. I have alota potential dude, I can skate extremely well, I have the "Ability" but don't have the knowledge. I only play free pick up games at the park. And the guys can only teach me so much durring a game, if anyone teaches me anything, they just say a few words & they are out of breath & we're in the middle of a game. See part 3 of my comment.
i favorited this one so far, so I can just easily jump back @ your profile if I need to.
this is ideal bro, I couldn't find anything like this a few months ago.
Hey man, I need all the advice i can get!
I'm 22, I play Roller pick up games 1-2 times/week. The guys at the games are fustrated with me all the time cause I'm not completely aware of "how to play" I mean I am good, especially @ defense. , i'll continue..
A good option instead of Carry (being a 2 syllable word that can be flubbed) is Wheel! I hear that used often

Thanks, very helpful tips. Although my teammates and I use "Man On" when we have pressure. We also use "Point" for a point pass.

Good info. I'll probably use the "triangle" concept with my team this season. - Ed
