I used to own a 2005 cavalier and I traded it in for a 2006 civic si. The civic is better then the cavalier in every way EXCEPT speed and fuel efficency! My cavalier was much faster, because of the shorter gears and higher torque. It should have beaten the civic by much more. However, the civic is FAR more luxurious and feels so much better and more expensive than the cavalier. Both are fantastic cars but I will always love my cavy!
in all the comment on this page nobody mentioned weight. assuming that there was only a driver in those cars the cav. is 200 lbs lighter, and that does make a difference in racing. every pound counts
first of all, does no one notice the guy in the cavalier jumped? second, the cavalier has cams, intake and exhaust. the Si is bone stock. let the si have the same upgrades and see who would win.

Hondas are only fast if you swap a bigger engine on it. civics are slower than cavaliers, ive raced my friends 98 vtech civic 5 speed, header and fuel regulator with my stock 96 4door 2.2 not even a 2.4 5 speed cavalier and beat him. my cavalier has only 110 horse power the civic has 140(it reads on the title 140hp)and the cavalier weights 100 pounds more.i like hondas but there are faster cars out there and just because its Honda it doesnt mean theres a god under the hood like many people think
ummm even with a header and fuel reg that civic is prolly only makin around 110(at best) as well...unless theres somethin else done to it...and i beat a 2.4 cav thats been tuned with an intake with an old automatic 96 integra with an intake and catback up a hill and raped it...and thats an engine wit almost twice the torque of my old b18b1

if u say that civic should have smoked that cav your a moron and know nothing about the ecotec motors. yes the SI is stock and cav has mods but your spending 20grand at least for a SI and 14grand for a cav. put 2grand in mods on the cav and smoke the civic all day. that still makes it 5 or 6 grand less put that money in the motor juss to equal the SI's base price and your talkin 400 horses.
even with all that it was probably a 200hp cavalier vs a 200hp civic so the cavalier faster right and since it was from a roll from a dead stop the cavalier would of beaten it worse since the civic has to redline to get a good take off cause it to spin to much the cavalier only has to put it at 2000rpm with less spin.
actually, the down fall is the elctronic tb. It kills the power. With a simple swap the the k20 tb, RSX type s,it will most likely spank the cav...and i say that when i own a cav...
