Bonnie's ancestors were from Salem. If I remember correctly, the whole Salem witch trials started when some girls got curious about some "witchy" practices of one of their slaves and got in trouble for experimenting. So perhaps the whole thing of black witches makes sense.

Exactly. All the werewolves and vampires are white. Though to be fair, there aren't many werewolves on the show. I mostly noticed that all the witches so far are black b/c almost all of them have had to work, almost in a servant-like manner, for white vampires. And most of the major witch families seem to have descended from errand boys and hand maidens. So, the theme of servitude kind of caught my attention.

That aside, I really like Bonnie's character.
