  • sweet tattoos.

  • Back Pack is my favourite song in the album :(

  • 8/10 FUCK YOU NIGGA>

  • First editing mistake I've ever seen you make.

  • love the vocals

  • love the album

  • Hate Rain on Me is my favourite track. The whole record is great!

  • I love their blunt lyrics.

  • :) this made my day

  • This was a great review, I love these guys and have gone to tons of their shows. Good album, great dudes.

  • This album rules hard

  • THAT'S MY FAVORITE LINE TOO!

  • Every single time I watch your reviews, you either say my favorite albums are shit, or you love the album I love, but my favorite track is your least favorite. How can you not just burst into treats at Backpack?

  • i used to be a dead guy now im a fucking dead eye

  • I only disagree with you on a couple of things, but pretty much spot on. I would give this an eight compared to their other albums. Great review.

  • Wait, jesus don't you run that record store down on Gregory?

  • Least favorite track is Backpack ? Are you kidding me ? That is one of the greatest on this album, it feels like he is ripping your heart out

  • "I wish I had a bullet big enough to fucking kill the sun

I'm sick of songs about the summer

    And I hate everyone"

  • Why is everybody commenting on the album instead of giving this poor dude some feedback on his review? He reminds me of Henry Rollins combined with Ben Goldwasser. Wait... that's not feedback either.

  • I love Andrew Jackson Jihad! I have your shirt that you are wearing!

  • I thought it was brilliant, the whiny, cynical, and self-hatred really fulfills our general introspective thoughts.

and the thing is, with the folk tune, and soft punk, they didn't make it TOO over bearing like, let's say, Tyler the Creator.

It was like a trip inside Holden's mind in Catcher of the Rye.

"Fuck errthing, but you know, fuck me too ;_;"

  • lol BACK PACK is one of my favorite :)

  • I WISH I HAD A BULLET BIG ENOUGH TO FUCKING KILL THE SUN!!!!

  • Singer sounds a lot like the singer from The Mountain Goats. I actually really like this album, besides the TONS of unnecessary cussing. They really attack everyone, and it's so honest. He just realizes that everyone is screwed. Haha

  • BIG BIRD BEST MOTHAFUCKIN TRACK!

  • This record is a pile of crap.

  • @TheJoker3494 How?

  • this album is so fucking good. i love it.

  • Personal AOTY.

I still don't understand how Back Pack is your least favourite track though. I personally think it's the best song on the album.

  • FUCK GOD ANYWAY! GOD IS OBSOLETE!

  • @charmoftheseer I hope you understand that lyric is said in satire and not in context.

  • Its funny because he's like "hes too whiney" but theres a line on the album where he sings " you know i hate whiney fucking songs like this but i can't afford a therapist sorry guys, heres the solo..." hahahah i just wanted to point that out :P great album review! i agree with your 8 rating :)

  • love the album, love ajj, and the thing i love about their songs is what nearly every other artist is missing, its real, its inspired, its truthful and poetic which is if you think about it pretty rare, i relate to sad songs so much, i fucking love this album

  • wait hold up... does that viewcount go over 200,000 did i just go insane or what

  • I LOVE THIS ALBUM

  • >mfw back pack is my fav song

  • not completely sold on this album yet gonna have to try it out for myself :)

  • "I wish I had a bullet big enough to fucking kill the sun, I hate songs about the summer"

  • I loved this after giving it listen. cheers.

  • As a metalhead who is pretty informed about his genre, I watch this channel to hear your opinions on stuff that I've already heard (and get angry when I disagree with you. I <3 the new Mastodon). I've tried some of the stuff you've recommended from other genres, and nothings ever done anything for me. This one does. This one reaaaaally really really does. Thanks for making videos. :)

  • I love Hip Hop, and I love this album.

  • Album of the fucking year

  • "Music reviewer Anthony Fantano of The Needle Drop gave the album an 8 out of 10." You're featured in the critical reception section of this album's wikipedia. Congratulations man! I know it sounds dumb, or pretty insignificant, I just thought it was cool to see you recognized as an official critic.

  • such a great album now im going to go fucc the devil

  • Cd was fucking amazing like all the other Andrew Jackson jihad albums

  • What is the chorus of big bird about?

  • great review as always

  • Hey, Fantano, my copy of this album just came yesterday, and it's pretty fucking great. Thanks for telling me about them.

  • Yeah, this is definitely my album of the year so far.

  • Next, how about giving the new Sólstafir a try? Very odd Icelandic melodic heavy rock or something.

  • Album of the year

  • Holy shit, am i the only one who thinks people are getting too hung on whether things are "underground" or "mainstream" or "hipster" or whatever.

If you don't like the album, that's okay, but don't fucking hate because the people who usually associate with it are douchebags or assholes. Good music is good music, regardless any of it's douchey fans or it's background..

    Just my opinion though.

  • Well, the comment section of your videos really went to shit

  • Your channel is awesome! Looking forward to being introduced to great music.

  • Your a factor cockersucker cracker

  • this is exactly what I was thinking! Love this album.

  • japerdole

  • just found your channel, great review. i was looking through your uploads, and any reason why you didn't do any for the new great pop-punk albums(Gospels-fireworks, suburbia i've given you all and now i'm nothing- The Wonder years, Burning At Both Ends- Set Your Goals)? personally, i loved all three, and Gospel is my favorite album of the year so far by far

  • you know, i did not want to like this band... but i kinda do.... im talking of the earlier stuff... i havent heard Knife man yet...

  • This guy likes weird music

  • is that the bisquit sam-o crown on the cover

  • /watch?v=LdqRuUXCruk

  • @youneekk Shut up! nothing going to happen, idiot!

  • the only way I know andrew jackson jihad is bc my friend made me a mixtape and put it on there

  • @melanie1190 Thank god for mixtapes, huh?

  • crazy... that's the same line that stuck in my head on first listen.

  • "I hate whiny fucking songs like this but I cant afford a therapist, sorry guys here is the solo!"

Absolutely love that line, also read that Sean was listening to a lot of Titus Andronicus, another personal favorite, while writing/recording this album and you can tell the influence.

  • I liked their catchy quirky folky stuff and I didn't get that with this album. Plus a lot of it was stupid. And not stupid like their earlier stuff, just plain stupid. For instance the I can walk down the street without getting raped line, I mean they've clearly not thought this through and it irritates me.

And I can't listen to your favourite line without the grating feeling that they've just stolen it from George Carlin.

  • I love bands like this x) I love bands that are upset with the world, but in a hilarious kind of way like Get Set Go and such. Can't wait to check this album out! Thanks Mr. Fantano! :D

  • evidence catsndogs he produced the first kanye album

  • i'm never gonna listen to that album and i dont care about it, i just watched the vid to see your face and hear your voice

  • I really liked this album, thanks for the shout on it :)

  • You're right on about the balance and importance of their self-deprecation. I feel like you can only be a good socially conscious artist if you yourself can admit to being at least part of the problem (unless you are an observant hermit).

  • @theneedledrop If Opeth albums are overproduced, then what is Septic Flesh's "The Great Mass"?

  • @InTimeTraveller Fucking incredible, that's what

  • @cipher619 It's nice but it's TOO much. They have put a lot of money into making this album by adding choirs, a variety of different organs, and recording at the best studios in Europe, but the songs themselves are mediocre when compared to older Septic Flesh albums (esp. Communion & Sumerian Daemons). In my opinion that's what an "overproduced" album is: too much attention on the fancy stuff (choirs, exotic organs, etc) with little attention to the songs themselves.

  • @InTimeTraveller See, I actually preferred The Great Mass over Communion, if I had to pick. However, I think the approaches to the album were different, so comparing them is kinda lopsided, in my opinion. Both albums were great for sure. I think if you tear the "fancy stuff" away then yes, TGM is a simpler album, but that's part of why it's so good. The writing isn't really mediocre, it's been carefully written so that the band doesn't make the orchestra seem unnecessary.

  • @InTimeTraveller (cont) The album sounds like it was written specifically to accommodate the orchestra and the choir. So while yes, it is more "over produced" than their earlier stuff, I don't feel that the album suffered as a result.

    Just my opinion though *shrug*

  • knife man is one of the best albums of 2011

  • The link from your site is wrong brah

  • Grace for Drowning or The Hunter.

  • I absolutely loved the album. One of my favorite things about AJJ is their vocals, and they have yet to fail me on that platform. Sean Bonnette is so good at vocalizing emotion from his cracking, shaking whine to his furious screaming (which I can't remember if I heard on this album or not. brb re-listening).

Overall, I love this album and its' gritty, dark views on life.

  • Yeah I've been listening to this album and loving it. Turns out we have the same favorite line.

  • Had no idea this was out! I'm a big fan of this band, and a newer fan of theneedledrop. Keep doin' your thing.

  • If you like andrew jackson's older stuff, Id reccomend Paul Baribeau. havent heard jihads newest album yet though, thanks for letting me know it exists

  • Grace For Drowning. Since you already did Opeth-

  • can you review The Horrible Crowes??!!!?? ppppppllllllllleeeeeeeeeaaaassseeee

  • Mister Fantano, I have a question: What do you do when you listen to a new album? Do you sit down with just the music and no distractions? Do you read? Do you drive, what's the setting? Just curious about your methods. I'm a fan and a new subscriber.
