My dog has not been mutilated in any kind of way seeing as he is ok while my cat has been sterilized because we couldn't bare seeing her suffer not getting any when she was in heat. She is happy, just as active as she was before and does not have those sexual urges which would have never been satisfied(she's an indoor cat). If you are too lazy/busy to properly take care of a dog you should not get one.

Dogs in the wild don't have floppy ears, it's a trait bred into hounds over many generations to improve their sense of smell (the ears waft the smell into their noses as they run). The vast majority of those in animal shelters are there because of irresponsible breeding, people with no experience of breeding, or do not do enough research into the future homes of their puppies. My breeder always has dogs back which are not suited to their new home whatever the circumstances.
