cheap and safe? I'm all for scientific literacy, but post cards and digital movies are enough to get us moving forward. Getting resources and building a permanent human presence off the Earth is environmentally healthy and economically desirable. China is not going to space because they hate oxygen? Don't be in a hurry to explore space.. thats like don't be in a hurry to get food to the 3rd world... famine will still exist tomorrow.
I see all this as preliminary reconnaissance; the Saturnian System is an ambitious territory to explore. I think the rings of Saturn have abundant sources of water, I think we can tap it for life support and spacecraft fuel. The moons with all those oceans are prime real estate for human colonies. And frankly we should be building space stations to move people and goods from Earth to all the major planets. Expensive and dangerous? Sitting on Earth strip mining everything and going to war is
This is an AWESOME IDEA for Titan! We should also send new missions with probes (just in case you find a moon with activity) to the 2 ice giants Uranus and Neptune, and definitely a probe to land on Neptune's major moon, Triton! There's proof from Voyager 2 of liquid nitrogen geysers all over Triton, and it's the coldest moon in the Solar System! It'd take years, but imagine what we would learn from those 2 planets and their moons! But we can't yet, because of War and Religion! Let's do this!
proposed mission? why put manned missions before these ones. Who gives a stuff about manned missions. The search for life should be our number one priority. Carl Sagan was right. The best way for the human race to learn and to improve is to stop thinking of ourselves and get our priorities right. robotic and telescopic missions should be put well above manned missions.
Imagine how it would look: A SEA OF METHANE......Can you imagine? An ocean under the crust of Europa is easy to imagine, but a sea of methane. It's so fascinating. Let's go there as soon as possible, fly directly, not using the 10 year trajectory please. And launch it now please, not just in 2020.
WOW.......That was phenominal!! I can fully envisage human life establishing itself on another planet in the next 50-100years, maybe even sooner!! NASA, GOOD LUCK, and most of all Cassini. GO EXPLORE, GO BEYOND, GO NASA !!!

This is a great idea. Stop spending on the military and GET GOING on outer solar system exploration.

Hitler is informed that he can´t send a manned mission to Titan because he spent all the money on the church and military...........

if humans survive their arrogance, we will certainly send there a manned mission before 2100
