  • Aw I'm really excited about this camera as an entry DSLR but it doesn't sound very good after this :(

  • Brand new? So T3i was 2011?

  • Erryday im shufflin,

  • Does the 60D has cropped sensor?

  • Your video is great, Darth Vader rocks a pic, 60D gives birth, your hair is cool as hell and the shirt is sweet, LMFAO sexy and I know it

  • I'm buying t3i because of the screen!!!

  • the t3i is a video cam more then a photo cam

  • @qo7productions He's focusing more on the new features, and not over-viewing everything the T2i has.

  • I don't understand the thought process behind buying a cheaper camera when you're starting. Why not buy something that you can grow into instead of buying camera after camera?

  • Broski you just cleared up everything for me. I'm sticking with Nikon

  • You are in the pit?

  • Arnt you in the Party Rock Video? I'm runnin through these hoes like Drano!

  • I heard the T2i has no sound control... just a mic input, but you're really not able to manually control the sound, like in the 60d. Is it the same with the T3i? Can you also not manually control sound?

  • @ingramjones23 The t3i has manual sound control.

  • your holding a 60D hahaha XD

  • how old is this guy?

  • Your desktop mic looks like R2D2

  • I got the 600d but im realy scared that i damage the focusing thing in the front because i use my hand...is that ok?!

  • You are the best, JaredPolin! I just bought a T3i and had a little debate about it on facebook with Yulien269 haha keep it up :)

  • So So funny man...good job.

  • battery life being twice as long worth mentioning? or do you think we're all super loaded like you and can afford infinite batteries and lenses?

  • Batteries aren't even expensive.

  • Can it record to Hard Drive as Canon states?

"Recording Media: SD/SDHC/SDXC card, via external media (USB v.2.0 hard drive, or via Wireless LAN (Eye-Fi card*))"

  • Your hair... Your camera.. Your muscles... You sexy thangggg.

  • you talk tooo much

  • whats up with the hair

  • dude shut the fuck up

  • What camera is that in the background?

  • I love your hair

OK I like the video to

  • Does Canon T3i / 600D overheats? My T2i / 550D does after 10-25min.

  • can you tell me where can i find a wirless mic for a cannon T3i like the one your wearing? and how much does it cost? PLEASEE i want one so bad, thanks XD

  • This guy just sounds like an idiot. Get and education and the actual camera if your going to do a review.

  • HAHAH. Maybe you should go on the company sites and read up on it instead of relying on everyone else to do your research for you, idiot.

  • And sadly (in a funny way), he told you all you needed to know in this video. But no, he needs an education because YOU don't know how to listen. Yep, all his fault.

  • Hi, I´m from Buenos AIres, Argentina. I have a T2i and I used to film a lot, I recognize a known bug on this camera: OVERHEATING.. That is a concern for me, after record near 20 minutes of video (in few steps), the display shows a signal saying: Almost burned. So, I need to turn-off the camera and wait a few.. not a deal ! Question: Is there a way to solve this bug? Question2 : Does the T3i solve this problem??? Thank you !!!

  • The swiveling screen is nice for awkward angle macro shots... and the camera is awesome despite some of the negative "camera snob" gobble out there on the internet...

  • Jared (or anyone who knows) - are these videos all shot with the D3s? They look really nice.

  • its R2D2, not RDD2, or R22D (:

  • I'm pretty sure The sensor is not the same as the 60D still CMOS and 18mp though.

  • Actually, it is. Both are apc-s sized, crop-frame sensors.

  • dear sir a little bit more of principle and less of your personality please. thanks

  • i like the swivel screen for family photos so i can see myself. is it worth spending $700-800 more on a nikon D7000 than getting a t3i? i'm just starting out but want to get something decent.

  • @rork1 got a 600d 2day. just started out myself. takes great pics and easy to use coz on each setting it tells u whats it does on screen. not worth spending anymore this cameras fantastic.

  • @rork1 You really should consider the Sony a33 or a55. Not saying it's necessarily the best choice for everyone, but it shouldn't be overlooked. I've had the T2i and now the a33. I'm quite content with the a33. I pixel peep and have bought a bunch of lenses trying to home in on the best I can find.

I'm quite critical on things like noise and use manual settings to make better choices than the auto settings do. With the right lens, the a33 produces pictures that the Canon only equal at best.

  • Star Wars Knowledge FAIL, haha

  • @dan94tt thanxs

  • love the shirt !!!! Excellent lol

  • R2D2...

  • It is certainly funny how canon has got there self in a little kajumble by releasing 3 exact cameras with different names but the hell with it its the older brother of the t2 and the little bro of the 60d, either way its a sick camera and if you've got a t2, no worries what you currently got is fine but if u haven't purchased a dslr yet the t3i is definitely worth the extra 100 bucks in my opinion. Hehe if u seriously think about its so funny how one new component calls for a whole new release.

  • STOP YOUR RAMBLING PEOPLE!!!! Its not a question of whether or not you should get the t2i or t3i, its a question of whether or not you want a t2i or a 60d for a cheaper price;)

  • Hey I have question? Does the T2i record hd 1080 too? So I should go better with T2i over the T3i

  • @TheChaliWorld

Hello. As a professional photographer using the T2i, it does shoot in 1080. I recommend buying the T2i instead of the T3i for sure. The only main difference is the screen that can fold out. The T3i is a complete waste of money in my opinion.

  • Nice video Jared, well put together and thought out comparison. I was reading some other information about the new T3i at eost3i.com and am still on the fence if I should upgrade from my T2i to this camera or just wait it out and get a 7d when the time is right.

  • the rotating screen was a big seller for ALOT of 60D buyers..so the T3i having this screen is gonna be a big money saver on alot of people... especially youtube people for making videos..

  • i would love to have my hair like yours

  • it should be the 560d im a big canon fan i shoot a 550d and i am very disappointed with this camera it seems the only reason for being made is to annoy the hell out off 550d owners

  • Save your money even if it takes a bit longer and purchase a 7D..You will not regret it..

Great comparison video Jared...I SHOOT RAW

    LONG LIVE THE DARKSIDE...HAHAHAAA

  • Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh, even the 7D is practically the same as the 60D, which is the larger version of the t3i and so on. Same sensor size. Unless you REALLY give a shit about having 19 whole auto-focus points and a few extra little tid-bits for settings, you're better off NOT wasting your money on a body that costs almost as much as a Mark2 (which WOULD be an upgrade).

  • Would just like to point out that the 550D/T2i does very well in low light, with minimum noise, even up to iso 12800.

  • My take on it is that the T3i is the 2011 model of the t2i. So they could have called it the T2i-2011. But I like t2-i2 better, so let's go with that.

  • T2i2i = For the win! "RD-D2" AHAHAHA

  • 3:55 is the perfect summary for the "new t3i" in a nutshell.

  • You should try to make your hair more like Bob Ross

  • Still no continuous auto focus during video, meaning it remains completely useless for normal people shooting things like kids and pets running around. Manual focus just is not practical. A major disappointed to any family member.

The Sony a33/55 remains the better choice.

  • @a1mint in its defense the video is still very good. The auto focus on the nikon d7000 is ok but not there yet either. Maybe canon will be getting it soon and doing it really well.

  • @JaredPolin The video is good, but not better than its competitors. Canon may be liked by so many, but unlike what other think, they're not a front runner.

  • @a1mint are you kidding me you say that sony camera is a better choice cause of the auto focus? if you want a family camera you should might as well buy a camcorder. Dslrs wernt mainly made for filming.

  • @hugsareforbitches Yawn, another Canon fanboi.

I can produce just as good looking video using my Sony a33 as you can with your Canon T2i, plus my video will have more action in continuous focus, unlike the hunting back and forth you'll have to do - try that outside in the bright sunlight. Right.

A camcorder doesn't provide the shallow depth of field and is too grainy in low light.

  • @a1mint LOL no one is going to use a dslr for shooting kids running around this shit is for short film makers who like a shallow depth of field for a cheap price

  • @FutureComputing Which the Sony can fulfill very nicely.

  • @a1mint Much prefer the canons image quality, but i suppose thats just down to personal opinion.

  • @FutureComputing The a33/a55 produces about the same image quality as the t2i/t3i does.

Plus the Sony can do a bunch of stuff with photos that the Canons can't.

And that's not my opinion, those are facts.

  • @a1mint On paper, the image quality is the same. In the real world, they vary, and I personally much prefer the canon. In the world of DLSR photography and video tech specs are irrelevant when it comes down to the final product the camera produces.

  • @FutureComputing You prefer the Canon just because. And not because of facts. It's a preference.

I prefer the Sony. Same image quality, more compact and lighter, nicer swivel screen, more features (yes, useful features).

Canon fans shouldn't be arbitrarily assuming that their choice smashes the competition, it doesn't. End of day, it's about the lens, *and* how well you can take pictures, which is an art form.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA. Actually consumers kill the market buying it for just shooting kids all the time. Just walk into a Best Buy and stand around there a little while. You'll see tons of people trying to buy it for what they could do with any other shitty camera. And people buy LENSES for shallow depth of field, not the camera, and fast lenses with wide apertures are NOT cheap. Argument invalid.

  • @multibigpop Are you retarded? A DSLR with video capabilities is THE CHEAPEST way to get a camera that supports lenses, and therefore the cheapest way to get a nice depth of field. The kit lens on my 550D produces a decent shallow DOF, and that came with it. A DSLR with a nice piece of L glass may seem expensive but compared to PRO camcorders it's really quite affordable.

  • What the fuck are you even talking about? I know that already. My argument had nothing to do with the spending less money for comparable quality and possibilities. It was about your stupid comment "consumers aren't going to buy this just to shoot their kids". When in fact, yes they do all the time. And the term DSLR refers to just the camera body. Digital single lens reflex camera which doesn't refer to what lens you are using (which is what weighs your depth of field).

  • So, if you wanted to argue that people use a DSLR merely to get great depth of field to shoot short films is stupid. Especially when it's not the camera they buy, but the types of lenses with wide apertures they buy. Not just the lenses. And it's not comparable if you count the fact that you get a nice shutter roll if you move the camera too fast. I mean, you already tried to use DSLRs not being bought buy the average consumer as an argument. That makes you the retard, not me.

  • @multibigpop Wait what? You're poorly written response is far to much for me to even give a crap about deciphering. This is the point I'm trying to make: budget film makers like to use DSLR's because they give that film-like depth of field for a relatively cheap price. The majority of average consumers don't know what a DSLR is, never mind own one.

  • You're by far the dumbest person I have ever talked to. My argument had nothing to do with DSLR's not being proficient and if you can't decipher really obvious shit, maybe you should stay inside, unplug the net, and let yourself wither away. You're also still arguing that people trying to do short films and semi-professional work buy DSLRs because they are cheap and give you awesome depth of field. But it's the lenses that give you depth of field, along with subject distance, not camera.

  • Based on this fact, people buy lenses for greater depth of field, which isn't always cheap. Doesn't matter how much you spend on your cheap camera body if you're only using some sub-standard glass to get "super duper depth of field" with a 3.5 or higher aperture, dumbfuck. Get lost.

  • @multibigpop You took: "budget film makers like to use DSLR's because they give that film-like depth of field" and made it into "people buy lenses for greater depth of field". Seriously. Look at good film makers on youtube like FreddieW and CorridorDigital. They BOTH use DSLRs and recommend the 550D to people getting started. To achieve shallow DOF you DON'T need to buy any new lenses. Of course they're important, but with a kit lens on my 550D I can get some pretty nice video.

  • @multibigpop Also, a 550D's video is JUST as good as the 7D. So you're saving money to spend on nicer lenses. A lot of film makers getting started use the 550D. Don't insult me either... that's just plain childish. The kit lenses can go down to 3.5 f stop which is perfectly adequate at a very good price point.

  • @a1mint Thats why you dont buy a dslr for that kind of stuff...

  • @HyphyDubstep You can make very nice video with a Sony A33/55.

btw. Sony is about to absolutely obliterate and wipe the table completely clean with their upcoming A77/65...

  • @a1mint Too bad its $2000 and no one will buy it...

  • @HyphyDubstep That's the starting price and includes a 16-55 (or was it 15-50 not sure) 2.8 lens.

The body-only A65, which feature wise, is pretty much equal, will be around $1000.

  • @a1mint The Sony A33/55 have overheating issues. If you film for about 10 minutes on and off even it over heats and takes forever to cool down. The A65 looks fantastic though!

  • @HeathrowSpottingHD I know. It's as if it has moods. It's ok for occasional shooting though. Even on family outings where you still have a fair amount of video happening, it doesn't clunk out.

When you want to record something more lengthy, like during a bird show, say, the trouble starts.

The A65 looks very good except for the bad low light performance. I'm actually quite disappointed with the noisy results I'm seeing reported. Check out dxomark and dpreview and such. Not good for low light.

  • "Like.....I don't know what else..." LOLOL.

  • FAIL! How can it be a preview if you don't have the camera!?

  • @TheMelvag True. But his hair's awesomeness makes up for it.

  • @TheMelvag its a preview not a review :)

  • No. Not fail. Exact same camera, just a little bigger, and a couple differences hat don't matter if you actually know what you're doing with a camera.

  • @TheMelvag Isn't' that what PREVIEW mean rather than REVIEW? May be my understanding of the word is different from yours.

Jarod, what's your personal camera of choice; the 60D? Some reviewers on Youtube say the T3i has better video quality than the more expensive 60D but that's hard to believe since it's a) more expensive and b) has the same sensor

    So what's up with that?

  • Apple + Canon = Biggest SOBs in the planet.

  • and I thought I had a fro.

  • "Its like the 60D opened up a door and went poop, and out came the T3i"... awesome. Haha I agree! Love Canon, but the T3i really isn't to exciting.

  • hope it'll make the t2i cheaper

  • i like your messy hair :P

  • Articulating screen, does that mean it breaks off?

  • Oh shit I have the same chair as you. Did you get it at Costco?

  • my opinion , just buy a 60D ,or Nikon D7000

  • not a very objective preview. Jared could hardly hide the fact that he is a nikon user.

  • @JaredPolin, Yes this one is also update from t2i to t3i the same as nikon d300 to d300s, are you taking about update or completely new model? Canon did the same thing, if you look at Canon 7D not form 50D, just like Nikon d7000 not from D90, they are totally new model. I think they cannot update and still call t2i, they have to call different name which is happen to be t3i.

  • 60D does not have heating problems like the other Canon cameras.

  • where are new Nikon bodies? 7d is on par with price with weaker d7000 (again HK prices). Canon 60D has received rave reviews, most importantly from users (opposite to not-so-great Nikon users' experiences with new D7000 body). Vari-angle screen is, like few ppl here mentioned, very helpful thing when it comes to macro photography or plain shooting above ppl heads.

My personal thought is that Canon won over Nikon with new bodies that even have more reliable metering than Nikon counterparts.

  • and i think for the Rebel Series. if u want a real upgrade. ud have to get every next camera. . soo the T4i. would be the better upgrade. then T6i

  • im happy that the t3i isnt different by much at all.. cuz then it doesnt make u feel bad about ur t2i. like right when u got it a new one comes out. but then realize its no differnet. good feeling : ) thanks canon! ahah

  • haha! "It looks like the 60d opened up a door and took a poop and gave birth to T3i."

  • Do anybody know when the cannon T3i cones out ??? I need a BAD !!!

  • @CutxBoy I just preordered mine and it says release date of feb 28th on my order status.

  • The reason canon came out with the t3i is so that the t2i comes down in price allowing canon to destroy the sales of the nikon d3100.

  • I can't wait for the t3i comes out because its just going to drive down the price of the t2i :D

  • Fro-Vader sounds like Homer Simpson

  • Are you selling those t-shirts?

  • @sylentgurl89 yes log onto fro knows photo dot com

  • You need a new haircut...

  • Ahaha youre hilarious anyways i noticed you said the t3i would probably be good for shooting videos, do you know if the the t3i has autofocus or is it manual, cause i want to be able to bring items close to the screen and have it focus, i also want to shoot videos of multiples items on a tripod from different angles and distances, etc so i want a camera that has autofocus, i know a lot of times, Canon cameras dont have autofocusing when it comes to shooting videos, so please let me know, thanks!

  • The T3i definitely has some significant changes over the T2i - wireless flash sync, cropped video mode, full manual controls for video, and of course the flippy screen.

That being said, I certainly wouldn't recommend T1i or T2i users run out to get this camera, and I don't really think that's who Canon is targeting with this camera.

If you're expecting awesome new groundbreaking features in a Rebel/x00D camera, you're just delusional.

  • well guys you wanna get canon DSLR get t2i pay less and be happy want something better get 60d you will pay more than a 1k but for that better kit optics, aluminum body, multi-aspect ratios for still and as someone said better controls!

  • are you using any studio lights for this video?

  • @JogBird nope just very bright day light coil lights.

  • Ohhhww.. come on... its really good that canon announce new cameras.. naw the t2i will be cheaper, and you will can buy a better camera, with articulated creen, digital video zoom, more automatic modes, with just a few dollars more..

    Thas cool...

remember that XXXD are to beginners like me. You have to make a diference between, ppl like me, and professionales.

All is marketing, they cant sell professinal cameras to beginners

  • canon makes a smart move here, i will buy the t3i just because of the screen.

  • Don't understand why Canon changes the names for the american market, what's wrong with 600D?

  • R2 D2!! hes sittin on the desk next to u!

  • @kamucho ha thats funny i never thought about that.

  • @JaredPolin U subconsciously bought a star wars mic :)

  • Your hair makes you almost as cool as Lenny Kravitz. Almost.

  • I'm Canon user since 10D and I can't agree you more. Canon have been doing some none sense recently in my opinion....very disappointed!!

  • AHahah Binga, dinga, dinga!

  • Hey Jared, I must respectively disagree with your opinion on the articulating screens, first, it is really handy for macro photos, lets you see what your shooting at angles that you would other wise be on your belly for.

  • @MI6CORPORAL

    I second your opinion!

  • @rkorczeniewski I find the Nikon Live View auto focus is slower then the Canon ones though

  • Auto is for noobs.

  • @GeneralCupcakes woteva worlds best photographer. some of us dont give a crap about that stuff just wanna take nice pics.

  • R2-D2

  • haha its R2D2

  • binga dinga dinga

  • I like it when frovader says 'come on Canon, make something cool', my answer to that would be, 'what, a Nikon'. Sorry Canon users.

  • wow ! you said nikon, when they put a new camera, they are completely new, how about Nikon d300 and d300s?

  • @elsavann That is true, lets just say everyone has errors like that

  • @elsavann but the didnt change the name to d400....it was just a update.

  • In confused. Should I buy a 60D or 600D? Price Difference/Image Difference for the Uk! :D

  • @LSpearingProductions its up to u, same sensor in both.

  • R2D2

  • Dammit Canon. I thought the 60D was a bit weird but seeing the t3i is just stingy! I guess Canon would have thought that 60D was too expensive for a video camera so they put the t3i as a cheaper alternative for filmmakers. I still agree with you Jared, 18mp is too high especially with the poor noise handling capabilities, I think with Canon cameras, their selling point is at the megapixels, people who are new to photography will lean more towards a camera with a higher megapixel (in most cases)

  • I'll going to stick with Nikon then, Cheers for the replies guys !!

  • It is 60d, but cheaper :)

Just like 550d is a cheaper version of 7d (I think, usually that is what cannon does)

  • Perfect camera for me =)

  • i want to buy a DSLR camera but i dont know what to buy or how. Someone help?

  • @MrBendyStraws So, what you looking for in a camera? if you're looking for a consumer DSLR, you can't go wrong with Nikon or Canon, personally I prefer the nikons, but pick them both up, play with them and then see what happens, but after you get your first body, Do NOT look at other bodies, look at good lenses. Have fun!

  • Dude. R2-D2. And now I have to ban you from referring to Star Wars for 30 days.

  • "I just think that if you're going to put out a new camera... make it a NEW camera!! Not just a ding-a-ding-a-dinga!" Hahahahahahahaha!

  • You should make a Canon 7D Review .
