  • Im in junior high and my school is playing this! It's harder than you think!

  • @patrolking406 It is not that hard my school is playing this too. It is the easiest piece of music I have ever played and I'm in junior high also.

  • @patrolking406 I don't think it's too difficult, but that's partially because I play the tuba so my part is the same not over and over again :P

  • Fallout 3 4EVAR!

  • I always think of Enclave Radio from Fallout 3 when I hear this song.

  • Oh this is my husband; we're from Maine!

  • Down with the commies :L. I just love the crude grandeur of american matches :D

  • I always think of the Chevy Chase movie "Funny Farm," when I hear this march, as it was playing while the credits rolled at the end. I'm actually reading that book right now, though I had to get a used copy as it's out of print.

  • im not even american, i just love marching bands

  • Hello, my beautiful America. It is I, your president, John Henry Eden, and I'd like to have a talk, if that's all right.

  • @Ved000000 i can imagine one of those eyebots flying down my dorm hall playing this song :D

  • ddonkeyss, I did get out of bed to this music when I was a kid. A local radio station used to play marching band songs every morning (in the Seventies in St. Louis). My parents always tuned in. I've probably heard every song Sousa ever composed lol.

  • @miteyd We played all of his marches in the 60's...Still the finest 'March King' ever.

  • Anyone see a skull on the picture?

  • the liberty of the individual is paramount. cohesion of the group will only exist through liberty. the cohesion is the result of allignment through free individuals acting out of free will. Any other result would have to come through force, i.e. Antiliberty

  • Perfect tune to start your day with getting up from bed!!!!:)

  • I absolutely love this march.

  • Why the political debates here?

  • @mlk9602 Because its the internet :D. I just love the tune.

  • I HATE this song...i swear that we have to play some form of it every year for at least one extra Band thing (clinic all-state all northwest festal of winds ect.)....not that its not a good song...but..you can see where i'm coming from right?

  • You fools need to stop arguing! Socialism will never work because Humans are greedy, Capitalism is a very dirty business but listen to John Phillip Sousa's amazing march!

  • I'm playing this for the 7th grade spring concert!

  • i remember playing this in high school band

  • i'm doing this song to my majorette solo @ solo & ensemble next month! :D

  • this reminds me of the times my friend and i had playing fallout 3 until he died...

  • @jadezares must've been a long play session.

  • America is great! Keep it up! Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness cannot exist with the current national debt levels looming over everyone's head. The founding fathers would be spinning in their graves about today's announcement re: proposed debt ceiling increase to $16.4 trillion!

  • I'm with you, Broncoman. Having seen and lived in a socialist "paradise" (Czechoslovakia), I am amazed at the foolishness and ignorance of brainwashed souls such as Williamm911. Sadly, they helped to put the greatest ideologue and fool into the White House.

  • Rick Perry!

  • i remember this being used by hacksaw jim duggan in wcw

  • 25 people Always listen "Radio Enclave"

  • I always think of that scene in animal house where the guy gets in front of the marching band and directs them away from the parade when I hear this song

  • Enclave.

  • reminds me of my pop-pop (:

  • i play the 3rd trumpet part LOL

  • Re-elect Mayor Goldie Wilson!

  • help keep this march ahead of the colonel bogey march..... share it!

  • i vote this to be our new national anthem!

  • I am playing snare for this right now in my 9-10th grade band.

  • i played this for NCJC in middleschool

  • Play der Vashington Post!

  • love the story about how JPS found the perfect sound in the piccolo. 4th of July and band marches would NOT be the same without him! Love marches. They remind me of learning our pass-in-review at OCS.

  • I thought i recognized that last name! His father was Portuguese, it makes sense because Sousa is a Portuguese name.

  • Where doing this song in band class!

  • Marchas famosas

  • This is incredible sh*t

  • I'm in Singapore,The PC for My school,PHSS national day on August 8.Felt so proud :D We used this song.Definetly awesome :D

  • Hi Honorable American citizen,

Hi Honorable President of USA Mr Barack Obama

I do agree with all your speeches Mr Obama that I have heard. I think you are a great person and for sure you do not know that there are false doctors in Miami which are daily cheating sick and disabled kids coming from the entire world. I have started a blog which is : marilisarizzetto.blogspot.com

To those who may, please forward this message of mine to The White House and To Mr Barack OBama. Thanks Marilisa Rizzetto

  • 22 People cant get their head wrapped around the concept of good music.

  • I'd like another slice of Rhubarb Tart. I'd like another lovely slice.

  • I love this march! I was in a band this summer and we played this march and Manhattan Beach March in a local parade. Us never seeing these two songs sounded amazing!!

  • A darn fine march for a darn fine newspaper!

  • oh man, i feel nostalgic now, i remember playing this when I was a freshman in high school, im now a senior :( at least good music like this will be known forever by such a great music by sousa than today's pop music

  • @EnLugal

Not sure if trolling, or just really dumb.

  • 21 people read the Examiner.

  • @messedrocker Naw, probably only about 10 or 11. The rest probably read that God-forsaken rag "The Washington Times."

  • Long live Enclave Radio :-D

  • 21 dead kids of irak dont like this

  • @Chur4les3 *Iraq

  • @EnLugal Shut up you racist prick. You jelly or something?

  • @EnLugal wow you sound really mad lol plus your posting in an american video about how you hate americans oh wait...dude are you wanting attention?

  • I hate Americans.

  • @EnLugal Send me your address so I can send you a phone card. Then you phone call some one who gives a fuck. Save your comments of low-esteem and self pity for an anti-American video.

  • @TheHoomaikai I have many reasons to hate your country. If you're an American patriot you can fuck off - no one cares about your patriotism, because Latinos are flooding your country and whites will soon be extinct. I wouldn't be able to live in a country led by a black, socialist president. Die in a fire, fucking American scum.

  • @EnLugal

Yeah, but we do have good music, don't we? Enjoy Sousa, one of our finest!

  • Comment removed

  • @EnLugal what country are you from anyway and why can't you just leave our patriotic videos alone

  • @EnLugal Hitler was pretty awesome, wouldn't you agree EnLugal? I think so.

  • @blablanowwork No, Hitler wasn't awesome. But your democracy isn't awesome either.

  • @EnLugal why?

  • Sousa was a genous and his work really is a great contribution to western culture. I live in germany and our town orchestra played this tune at our new years concert.

  • @ goalie350..... Show some respect and at least spell out it out....America!

  • Happy 4th of July America

  • I pray for the day when the red states and the blue states can once again be the United States of America. Semper Fi

  • Happy 4th of July 2011 to all of you

  • @dakotail Ditto that!! Long live America!!

  • I You look it is Leapin Lanny Poffo!

  • 1:40 ftw TUBA!!!!

  • My dad and I play this on piano! :D

  • God bless America!

  • Happy Independence Day, America!!

  • MERICA!

  • Having played horn for most of high school (even though I'm a trumpet player, and told the band directors that I'd do horn SOMETIMES lol), I always feel bad for horn players whenever I hear/play a march, waltz, and/or polka. Good recording thought!!!!

  • Isn't it just a bit too fast?

The Washington Post is not necessarily a fast field march, it is more of a concert march, and should be played delicately, with care.

Other than the tempo, everything else is great, especially dynamics.

    5 stars.

  • @Leviferrebee1 Actually, I checked a metronome and it's exactly 120 bpm, which is the tempo of American marches. Only British marches are generally played slower (100 bpm).

To be contrary, I wasn't too impressed with the dynamics.

  • @spenzem Even though it says 120bpm on the score, it should be played majestically to honor America, by playing it too fast, we ruin the march's meaning. Thanks for your opinion, we all have them. :)

  • @Leviferrebee1 What's cool about Sousa is that he wrote very lyrically, which is why you probably think it sounds better a tad slower. However, we must remember that what Sousa indicated on the score is what he saw as perfect.

  • @spenzem Not necesarily. Almost every composer in the world (including me) will write Forte for everyone, but when it is being performed, the composer may want it to be played at a softer/louder dynamic. Sousa did this quite frequently; just take his "Invincible Eagle." He thought that would be a more popular march than "The Stars and Stripes Forever," but due to the performance level of each march, obviously, Stars and Stripes is the more appreciated march by most people.

  • @Leviferrebee1 I'll concede. As a composer myself, I know that when I write a dynamic I expect the conductor to make it fit. In the same way, this conductor's interpretation of a forward tempo wasn't necessarily wrong. Like you said, we all have our own opinions. Apparently, we just need to agree to disagree.

  • @spenzem Agreed. But you have to admit, this "debate" was a little fun.

  • @Leviferrebee1 Haha, yeah.

  • kjempe !!!!

  • Makes me think of the parade scene in "Animal House." May I have 10,000 marbles please?

  • Bons tempos de Força Aerea Brasileira.

  • Good recording and I have this record too from Holland circa 1930

  • I play this on max volume late at night in my dormitory.

  • A great band piece! We played this in the Spokane Schools All-City band in 1961-62. Practises were in the Lewis And Clark auditorium.

  • 20 people just dont know how to march

  • I play this song cause I feel like it.

  • What group performed this one? It is an exquisite performance!

  • one of the best marching songs ever arranged. Sousa was indeed the best!! Interesting story behind the song too....look it up. Not what you may think it is....

  • New Mexico, Texas, any state, who cares? I think the marine band kinda has marches down to a science. They were led by Sousa himself....He's kind of a big deal

  • It reminds me of Fallout 3 :D

  • Though its debut was performed by beginning band students, "The Communicator March" by Paul Gibson is significant, as it is the first new newspaper march to be composed in many years, following in the long tradition of Sousa's "Washington Post" march and dozens of other American newspaper marches. Before now, the last new newspaper march was one written for the Rocky Mountain News, which subsequently closed in 2009. Google "The Guadalupe County Communicator" for a back story by NYT, CNN, et al

  • :) You take me just a bit too seriously. Still, don't underestimate the kids of Santa Rosa, N.M. And don't underestimate Paul Gibson's "Communicator March." Kudos to Mr. Gibson for advancing the genre with an original take. First-time musicians playing a first-time composer's "Communicator March" for the very first time... You should have heard the second performance tonight in front of the New Mexico Governor. These kids advance by leaps and bounds on a daily basis. Celebrate that..

  • Search: "The Communicator March"

Yeah, the Washington Post march is OK. But on May 19, 2011, a group of middle school and high school students in Santa Rosa, N.M., performed the worldwide debut of a new, original newspaper march by Paul Gibson, "The Communicator March."

The Communicator is a 2,100-circ. weekly newspaper on Route 66. We hereby challenge The Washington Post to a battle of the bands. They can bring the Marine Band if they want, but my money's on our kids.

  • @ersthap That march was decent, but it's nothing compared to this arrangement. To say that those kids can play this better then the marine band is just a foolish thing to say.

    Please think before you post.

  • @ersthap I don't understand what you're trying to do. I don't know if you're actually serious or if you're just trying to advertise a public school's band. I watched the video and it is not that great. The composition may be great, but I can't tell due to the band. I'm very confused.

  • Back to the future much? anyone?

  • band! we have played so many sousa marches :))

  • HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ---Back to the Future

  • 14 people are commie bastards

  • @GFamily012 now 17 terds

  • @GFamily012 i'm communist but i love sousa

my favourite composer of whole america

  • @GFamily012 19 now it seems, 4 of those 5 are in Obama's cabinet lol

  • @GFamily012 Now they're 20. Better deads than reds!

  • @GFamily012

    6 more are commie bastards

  • @GFamily012 No, they are impostors, I am the REAL commie bastard :P

  • @GFamily012 21 now

  • @GFamily012 what is with Americans hating communists seriously?

  • @williamm911 Seriously? Americans don't like commies because commies take the fruit of a man's labor and give it to his neighbor for free. We like to work hard so we can keep the fruits of our labor and reap the benefits that go along with it, and the crackwhore down the street with 7 kids...can remain the crackwhore down the street with 7 kids...until she decides to get a job or start a business like the rest of us.

  • @Maat922 So your saying that what a man earns shouldn't be shared with him whatsoever what he earns is his to keep. Isn't that what taxes do? Taking away his money he has earned to give to the crack whore down the street so she can carry on living on the dole. Not everyone who does not have a job is some crack whore though, they be seriously ill and not have money for health care and so a Socialised health care system which everyone pays for just a little. The USA above all needs that system.

  • @williamm911 Spoken ike a true "subject". A socialist will never understand what it means to be American, and what the true meaning of Americanism is. Nothing dealing with socialistic thought or theory has anything to do with freedom.

A socialist should be the last person commenting on what "the USA needs". Sounds like you were raised and weened on the government teet in some socialist hellhole.

  • @Maat922 Yeah the United Kingdom has some hard times being a left wing country with um....(Insert British Commie name) in charge. Socialism doesn't take away freedom, the people who take it socialism and use it for their own profit take away the Freedom. There is this proof in America today with the Private Health Care that more and more people are not getting the care they are supposed to with or without insurance. This is were Socialism is good like the NHS everyone pays for it and benefits.

  • @williamm911 YOU try making socialized healthcare for a country whose mainland alone is roughly equivalent to the continent of Europe.

  • @FlyingEwok3967 Well that ain't to hard the Russians went from Monarchy with what Stalin said was "50 to 100years behind the west" and changed it with in about 10years of saying it. Yes his methods were extremely harsh and mainly unnecessary and even stupid. The principle is he took on a mammoth task no were near as difficult economically as getting rid of most private and putting in Free Health Care. You have socialism in America like Schools and Libraries are free so why not the big one?

  • @williamm911 Public schools here are shit. They are literally fenced in. Libraries are (pretty much) obsolete. And it was Peter the Great who westernized Russia, not that thug, Stalin.

  • @FlyingEwok3967 They would be worse if they were private as people wouldn't be able to afford them and the libraries being obsolete is because of the internet and modern technology. Peter the Great died in 1725 leaving Russia plenty of time to fall behind. It can be modernized more than once if it falls behind. The US Government isn't much better in that it had war criminals sending men to the moon instead of getting tried and hanged for crimes against humanity.

  • @williamm911 Why repeat what the Nazis did and execute such potential? That would have made us no better than them.

  • @FlyingEwok3967 umm.... if that is about executing the war criminals it is cause people suffered and died under due to them. Making it extremely wrong and immoral not to have put on trial and executed instead of forgetting what they did and giving high end jobs. How the f**k though is that anything like the Nazis they killed Jews and people they classed as sub-human not targeting the intellectuals of the society.

  • @williamm911 Did you just censor yourself? Dude, it's the internet. Functional anarchy. Show some spirit.

  • @FlyingEwok3967 I would but the imaginary forces of Communism is the UK will shoot me. Then if I don't die i'll have to go hospital and get FREE HEALTH CARE but that is socialism ahh but it is bad ahhh I might as well die instead of getting FREE HEALTH CARE.

  • @williamm911 Now this has just devolved into you bragging about something that means shit. You're a fucking child. Enjoy your sheltered life while the rest of us "scrub the toilets".

  • @FlyingEwok3967 it's not really bragging about something that means shit as it would help US citizens hell of a lot and the USA is the only MEDC without free health care. Although you do seem to be able to invade countries quite easily but yet when the soldiers get back they don't get the health care they need. Wait damn forgot USA do have free health care.... but only for the people in Guantanamo Bay. You know the ones who like to fly planes into stuff and blow themselves up.

  • @williamm911 It's not free at all. Everyone else, you know, those people WITH money are paying for it. I don't want to pay for you, or any other bum for that matter, so that you can go to the nearest hospital. If you want helathcare buy it yourself. It's not my job to pay for someone else against my will. It's good we don't have free healthcare so we don't fall into the communist trap we're already struggling to get out of thanks to Nobama.

  • @MrDrew625

    Can't tell if Trolling

    or just really stupid

  • @MrDrew625 What about libraries, public schools, police & fire departments, public parks, roads? It seems we've already fallen into the communist trap. So sad.

  • @jacobflaschen Damn your right I should pay the fire service myself if my house goes on fire and not work with everyone else to get it free.

  • @williamm911 Isn't it obvious? We had a Cold War that lasted 45 years! The world was almost reduced to cinders on more than one occasion. That would your world too, buddy.

  • @FlyingEwok3967 That was a cold war against Russia not Communism itself. It would be the same if it were against a different type of government. Just so happened it was communism, giving both countries excuses to invade others to fight either the Communist expansion or the Imperialists. in the end was cause of one wrong turn (literally one wrong turn) that sparked a weird chain of .

  • @williamm911 It's all many older folk know how to do. Not their fault. Kinda funny though to hear them scream.

  • @Hoboninja1000 The whole World War 2 through Cold War era was a war of ideology. Fascism, Capitalism, and Communism were at war with each other (with a tentative alliance between the U.S.S.R. in mid-late WWII). The US then went at it with USSR, and ANY communist country in the way. Vietnam, China, Cuba (embargo still in place) and more. Nixon made a détente between China and Russia because he saw the way the wind was blowing. Vietnam was a mistake (more nationalist than communist.)

  • @FlyingEwok3967 I was regarding to the Commie hysteria that ensued during the cold war in which blacklisting occurred. Many thought that commies were invading and destroying America from the inside. Many Americans were brought up to always fear the commies; that they are in the schools, in the work places, in your fucking closet. I was really just joking with my comment about the screaming btw. Nationalism does have a lot to do with it too though. I agree. Fantastic music. Thank you!

  • @Hoboninja1000 Well, yeah, that I understand. Anyway, music.

  • @FlyingEwok3967 yes :)

  • @williamm911 they were the guys we fought after the nazis. obviously.

  • @thegoodlifeonlybettr ah of course so then when all Communists are gone will they attack all the countries in NATO or something as the Russians bore the brunt of the Nazi war machine.

  • @williamm911 Didn't you know that Americans need groups they can hate? It helps them understand themselves better. Hatred also helps to simplify foreign policy into convenient "Us" vs. "Them" systems.

  • @bpeck77 Yeah unfortunately it is not as simple "good" vs "bad" as the grey bit between them is very big

  • @williamm911 Isn't it obvious? Socialists want absolute equality, we want absolute liberty. Doesn't fit together.

  • @semperFi4ever100 Why does that remind me of pee wee herman in family guy gonna have sex with an elephant and saying "You want me to stick this thing in that thing oh no"

  • @williamm911 We don't really hate the communists just the government rule.

  • @williamm911

americans believe the the soveringty and liberty of the individual, communists believe in the soveringty and community of the group. They are based on polar opposites philophically.

  • @zacharymullin that shouldn't entirely effect in this day the views of people against each other. if they don't like their government then don't live there instead of some stupid hatred
