These things are like $2 per Dskin now. Pissed at my dad; he refused to buy some of the last Dskins in store. They where in Walmart; $20 for 100 skins, that 900% profit margin and lack of Dskins pisses me off.
It protects the clear plastic surface for the laser, but what about the actual foil surface which is just under the cd label on the top side of the cd, once that part gets scratched, your data is 100% gone for good.

That was an $80 wake up call, let me tell you. Ouch! Now I have no worries about taking my dvds anywhere and I even can operate them safely in my portable laptop computer dvd drive. My computer media player application is thanking d-skin right now! No Skips!"
Well if anyone in the UK wants to buy these I got some from DSkins Direct. Now I've got all my games and music covered. Trust me it's worth it; much to my regret only after I had finally scratched up my £40 Call of Duty beyond repair and some other music albums. Ouch :(

the xBox 360 will scratch a disc if you tilt, move or jar it while on.

niether do i, now that i know not to .. but i live next to a steel mill, when one of the big kettles creates a BOOM and a shockwave (moisture in it, or they drop it) my 360 can bottom out a disc on the lens..
