I have a 24" iMac 2.93ghz c2d, 4gb ram, and NVIDIA GT120 256mb video card. I've been searching around trying to find out what kind of performance I can expect while playing this game and this video has me somewhat concerned. Anyone have any idea if this is what I should expect from my computer if I buy this game?
are you having problems playing starcraft 2 on your imac? my shaders are set to low and i just bought this imac in april...so idk if its imac or starcraft 2 causing the problem.
@jeremiewhite85 The issue was only related to Patch 16 in beta where there was noticeable performance differences. Although current OS Version 10.6.4 is not yet optimized for graphics so your best bet is windows on boot camp. Although assessing from your post I'm assuming your running the 4670 GPU and not the 4850. The 4670 will not get as good performance so I'd definitely recommend bootcamp on windows for that card.
@macward66 yeah I was totally a laptop kinda guy but after having the iPad since late May I essentially never use it that much anymore. So I figured I'd have the iPad for around the house or when I leave it and get a dedicated desktop type machine that has some serious power in it at a reasonable cost. iMac\iPad combo ftw!! Otherwise I'd get that recently refreshed MBP
@macward66 although I have to admit if they do an update on the Mac Pro I'd be really tempted to get the lower end model depending on what they put in it for parts... *grins*
@swordv yeah I have the ati 3870, it will play wow on high but not as smooth as my laptop. guess that is the best card you can get in the first gen mac pro, congrats on the imac
@macward66 Haha since there was no refresh Today I got super impatient and just pre-ordered the current iMac core i7 2.8Ghz, 1tb HDD, ATI 4850 512 mb, 16 Gb ram,.. Also ordered final cut express, AppleCare, wireless printer and iPod touch 8gb.. I know im sad... But still pumped... I might lose about 10% or so performance for not waiting... But meh I at least wont go stir crazy

@swordv yeah only thing bad about mine is the video card fails compared to my laptop :(
