this movie is about a particular part of Salvador Dali's life, when he went to college and when he got big, really big. And the story is actually true, the movie is based on the true friendship and possibly love affair between him and his very best friend Federico Garcia. Robert Pattinson acts super great in this movie whether you liked him in Twilight or not. But Twilight haters, just to let you know, if that movie didn't exist, now nobody would know his name.

im not a fan of monolingual actors being cast for parts specifically portraying people that were bilingual. I dont like when they try to say something in the other language, and just sound horrendous trying to say it. This is a fictional depiction of Salvador and Federico Lorca's intimate friendship.

Why do they always give Rob such weird roles? I think that Robert Pattinson is actually a good actor I mean honestly if he didn't do Twilight and starred in either a Tarantino or Coen Brothers film people would have respect for him and goes for me as well. I'm proud to say that I've never seen Twilight and will definitely never see it, but my actual point is that if Robert made better choices at picking movies just like Leonardo did as a teenager then people would have great respect for him. Just because Robert Pattinson is famous and loved by teenage fan girls, it doesn't mean he can't play any serious roles. You would know that he's done a surprisingly good job at it if you watched the film. The only thing that bothered me a little was the fake irregular Spanish accent.

the ones who say it's fucking nuts that Pattinson is playing Dalí, have you watched the film? Yes, he's Edward Cullen, Get the fuck over it, and accept other portrayals he has done. Yes, Robert brought Little Ashes to me, but geez, if I hadn't watched it, I wouldn't have known the great Salvador Dalí nor his paintings. Isn't that the whole point of the movie? Besides, he made the movie before Twilight. Would he have been respected differently? Superb film.

@mariferlooz I felt Pattinson was a poor choice because his "Spanish" accent faltered all throughout the film (which makes me question why they didn't cast a Spanish Actor). Pattinson slipped up a few times on the accent, which really annoyed me when everyone else was spot on. The point isn't to introduce you to Salvador Dali, because this is far from an accurate depiction of who he really was. This is a fictional depiction of Salvador and Federico Lorca's intimate friendship.

Why do they always give Rob such weird roles? I'd really like to see him in a usual romantic comedy or smth like that, where he'd play a normal person, not some lunatic or vampire or mentally retarded person etc etc. But then again these roles show how well he can act really. He's not afraid to do crazy things in front of the camera and that helps a lot when acting out a crazy person ;).

Pattison took the part because he didn't want to be associated only with Twilight, were his character was quite simple, and the role was easy. Being Dali is ridiculously hard..I have much respect for him for trying, tho he didn't pull it of in my opinion. But if you have read something about Dali you probably know what complex person he was. Twilit is a peace of crap, but it doesn't mean he is a bad actor. Hes young,and still has time to prove himself.

Wow. Love how they avoid the fact that the movie is about two male lovers. Instead they make it seem like two best friends fall in love with the same woman but become strong friends after it all. Trying not to gross out the Twi-Fans? Whatever. I didn't even know Rob was in this. I do think he was good though, so I don't get why they have to bring up Twilight to get more viewers. He doesn't need that specific audience for all his movies, that's the point of moving on to something different.
