  • gettin funky yo fly like an eagle

  • Just read an old Guitar Player article that I'd missed about Steve Miller... There's ALOT about the guy I bet people never realized... He freaking GREW UP around LES PAUL and his stage show!!!!!! I really DON'T like alot of his music but when he plays the blues I think he's great. This song is pretty classic too.

  • Steve Miller is the king of classic rock !!!!!

  • Great find

  • @dontbringmedown1900 there are two people ya couldnt drive a needle up their arse with sledgehammer

  • This is GREAT! ...He states its not even recorded yet...i wonder what the audience thought of its early incarnation. I have to agree with landesart...THIS IS THE VERSION! so much better than the super produced release.

  • Wow, this is cool as shit!!! I didn't know anything like this was out there.

  • They're playing some funk here

  • I didn't know Steve played the blues harp in the beginning of Livin' In The USA. I wish I could have seen him back in the day, but I was in elementary school when this was done!

  • The Rhythm section is SLAMMIN to Steve's strippy guitar/vocals....sounded like the Meters playing this tune. great live version!!!

  • Rock and Roll,Funk, and Psychedelic make an awesome threesome.........

  • einfach nur geil...das war noch Musik!!!

  • watch at 4:10 wow real STONED audience.... dig the flannell shirt dudes

  • proly the first time they heard this song

  • What a find! Steve Miller Band playing this song live, before they recorded it? Outstanding guitar work, of course, and very different from the recorded version's beginning.

  • For me this is one of the best live versions.

The spacy sounds from his guitar, funky organ, great drums and offcourse the best bassplayer ever in his band the great Gerald Johnson.

So much freedom in his playing, mannnnn that bass is killing me!

    Beautiful guitar by the way!

  • @foggy4180 FYI, Gerald Johnson played bass for the Sweet Inspirations prior to joining the Steve Miller Band. Whitney Houston's mother was a member of that group. The Sweet Inspirations actually opened for Elvis Presley during the time Gerald was with the group.

  • that guitar is painted so Friggib cool OHH yea puff puff pass..........

  • No word can say what it meant to hear this song in those times.

  • Wow awesome

  • Saw Stevie back in '67-'68 in the Be-in's in El Camino Park... He had the Steve Miller Blues Band back then.... Thanks for the Time Machine!

  • Steve sure played da delay :)

  • I have this whole concert on DVD. It's really a great example of Steve at his youthful best. He seems genuinely to be enjoying himself and the audience; he looks good too, very fit and handsome!

  • andy dick on drums woot

  • Thank you so much for posting this! How could anyone "dislike" this for any reason? This is music history!

  • "No talent motherfucker." - Miles Davis

  • Saw him raley field sacramento

  • This is definitely later than 1973, I'm old enough to clearly remember, this is probably one of the best renditions of his song (Fly Like An Eagle) he ever did. Kick ass bass player! This dude was without question one of the major for runners to the whole grunge scene in Seattle in the late 80's & 90's. These guys knew how to rock!

  • Wow, amazing. So much different and BETTER than the album version. Man... awesome. If there are any Clutch fans here, I think you know what I'm thinking.

  • I'm not sure if this is 1973....Fly Like An Eagle was released in 1976 and reached #1 in 1977...

  • @doobiebrother67 'Fly Like An Eagle was performed live before it was recorded in the studio and the song's origin does date back to 1973. My guess is that live performances of this song prior to 1975/76 were from an early writing draft.

  • @SheriffTankStoner thanks for the bit of triva :)

  • Love the guy in the audience "RIGHT ON" These were the best damn times for music. Imagine seeing this live. Wow.

  • Holy smokes. That was totally galactic. Thanks for posting. No more magical trips to outer space for me. Too bad

  • Great! Thank you!

  • that hippy guitar is cool

  • Great shit! Them folks in the audience were high as fuck!

  • @eforce1200 And did you notice how calm they were? Such a stark contrast with alcohol-intoxicated people :')

  • Faaaart like a nigger... yeaah.. Revolution yeah

  • I saw him live yesterday!

    He rocks!

  • OMG! this takes me back to the first time i saw him in the 70's!! his shows today are still just as great. he never disappoints live.

  • man this shit is fuckin gold

  • Right on, Steve! We need a One- World, democratically-elected Government, for The People. And share the entire World's wealth and resources for everyone. No need for wars, anymore. Or poverty. Time is running out.

  • @london2z Nope! Not what he was saying,1 world govt.is not Free! And you certainly will not share wealth with a 1 world govt.! What are you,10!

  • This is one awesome vid of the original, uncut version of this track. So helps to understand the full intent of the lyrics. I agree with 45, I love watching the southpaw bass. Thanks for the credits. Would be nice to have the other players listed. Thx so much TrombonesTel...

  • Love watching that bass player... haha, so good.. Seein them in two days!

  • This is better than the album cuts!! Thanks for posting it.

  • This is THE version! Thanks for posting! I dared to see Steve Miller live in the early 70s

  • @landesart when they show the Audience...those 2 guys are in flannel an are stoned to the bone..the entire audience seems like in a mescaline trance...PREMEIRE!!!! Version.. Bongs out an blacklight om PPL!

  • the 1 we have now is 1000times better than this virsion..

  • GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Who's the Drummer and Bassist in the vid? ( im only 17) been following SMB since I was 6 but still don't know the members before Les Dudek, Gary Mallaber, and Lonnie Turner

  • @scoma6

Bassist is Gerald Jonson, can't remember the drummer's name. I saw this tour in Cincinnati at Music Hall. I know he did a lot of new material that night.
