Neil you are a fantastic teacher. I was wondering if you might know of any patterns within the pentatonic besides the normal descending and ascending that you could show. during solos i feel like im doing the same thing lol
hi i know alot of pentatonics for e standard but i can seem to make a fast solo out of it any teips for speeding up? or not missing a note out of the scales?
@trapsforminecraft missing notes: keep practicing, slowly enough so that you aren't missing any notes, then increase speed. Faster: try #11, there are some great pentatonic speed licks there and they aren't hard. -Neal
@trapsforminecraft You don't want to get fast right away, it will come with time. Things have to be practiced slowly, you can't run if you can't even walk.
I'm self taught and I'm really getting into writing music right now but I never learned the scales and music theory. been playing for 15 years...I find it frustrating when writing because I can't find a chord progression I like and the scales take me forever.....I have the muscle memory down to a tee but I'm behind in the theory side of things...All the lessons in this seem like they would take years.....Any one have any help on how they learned scales and progressions????
Hey Neal, is there a technique to learn this pentatonic scales more faster? It isn't stay for long time in my mind...Please send me an PM, when you read this^^
Good lessons, dude. I'm a self taught guitarist and know most of what's in the lessons from screwing around for the past 6 years, but I wish you were about before I was put off letting anyone teach me after the droning on of diminished whatsits and note-reference as opposed to simply saying fret numbers etc.
You make your lessons simplified and easy to understand without pointless jargon. I wish everyone taught through practicing finger patterns. Guitar shouldn't be a chore, after all!
I've been practicing that scale thing you taught me, and I put my amp outside my house and played it and my neighbor came over and told me to stop playing >:)
your blowing my mind dude! i did the screaming thing and my neighbor yelled, "SHUT THE FUCK UP!" and i yelled, "FUCK YOU!" back to him through my guitar pickups! hahahaha im subscribed now!
i liked it.But my guitar is not that nice.I have learned alot from you thanks.Ill have to stick with my Chinese Jackson for now.Plus the neighbors wont like it too much will they?O well

When soloing in a Pentatonic Scale, are you supposed to solo in the Relative Minor if the song is in a Major Key and vice versa?
puppetmetal 1 year ago
@puppetmetal Nope, it's simpler than that: minor for minor, major for major. It's just that the note pattern is the same for the relative key. -Neal
