I haven't tried Ice Cucumber Pepsi but I did have the Azuki flavored one (which I found pleasant enough, despite not really liking soda in the first place).

I also love nattou, funny I had just eaten some before watching this video. Usually I just go the non-fancy route and eat it plain as well... although sometimes I like to put it on things. I had it on a slice of bread a couple days ago and thought the combination wasn't too bad.

Not sure I would like the Ice Cucumber Pepsi, but I'd try it for argument's sake. The natto... umm.. I've tried it by itself. It didn't kill me, but I wasn't very fond of it. I thought it was horrible, but I have 2 other containers, so I'll give it another shot over rice. The Onigiri looks delicious! I want one!

I tried natto once. Just plain natto in a bowl. I didn't hate it, but I didn't care much for it either. I'd be willing to try it again, as part of a dish (with rice, as part of an onigiri, with egg, etc.).

I don't care for mayonnaise much myself, except with tuna. I always keep some mayo around for tuna. Thus, I'm sure I'd like tuna/mayo onigiri. My local Asian market might have onigiri; I'll have to check.

I'll never get to try Ice Cucumber Pepsi. :(

you should also add the fact that onigiri has such special packaging is to keep the moisture from the rice off of the seaweed so it would give you that "crunch"

Natto is very nutritious and yes, its gross looking and hated by most foreigners but the nutrition value is high. You just drop it over rice, add some scallions, and a teaspoon or drops of soy sauce. :D

If you know how to use the subways, it is very easy to get around. Restaurants are excellent, but you should always look around before choosing; often the easiest to find are the most expensive, and the harder, cheaper places are often much better. Uh, the toys? They seem cool, I guess. Lots of people like them; I don't pay much attention to them. And no, there's not a lot of crime. It isn't non-existent, but for such a big city there is a very low amount.

Tokyo is great. It can be difficult as a foreigner, but if it were too bad we wouldn't stay! The people are generally friendly, though you do meet the occasional person who hates all foreigners. I do make friends, and many Japanese really want to meet more foreign people. Yes, quite a few are racist, but that's how it is in any country. The girls are very beautiful, though I'm not too interested in them. I get along pretty well, though would like to find a job other than teaching English!!

Yeah, natto with rice is quite good, and filling! But by itself it makes a great snack.

Yeah, they have onigiri in any convenience store (or conbini, as they call them). Conbinis are very nice, and contain a nice variety of food and goods.

The reason why you get the crunch is because of how they packaged it. which is a great innovation in my book to speak. The tuna and mayo is also my fav. I'm not sure abour the new Pepsi, though.

Nori, nori...hmmm...I don't know how to describe the taste. There are also so many different ways to prepare it. I love it, but I know a few people who can't stand it. Hope you are able to sometime. If you are open minded about natto, there's a good chance you will like it. Most people are just so put off by the look and the smell (there is a bit of an odor, but I don't find it overpowering) that they don't even try it!

Yeah, seaweed does have a taste, though I'm not sure how to describe it. I usually think it is pretty good (there are different types), but some people really don't like it.

i put a fried egg on top of the rice and top that with natto. you might like it even better that way. the flavor might grow on you too. so glad you like Japanese food and don't have a lot of prejudices. many americans come to japan with their minds made up about what they WON'T eat. that's their loss! do the convenience stores still sell oden all year long? used to be we could get it only in winter. cheers!

2. I can't be exactly sure from your description, but I'm going to guess that you are asking about gyudon. Gyudon (or any of the other donburi dishes) is served in a bowl of rice, with the beef and onions on top. Very good; one of my favorite dishes. Is that what you're thinking about?

Atarime? (checking wikipedia...) Ah. I'm not a big fan of squid. Tako/octopus I'm fine with, but squid generally has a chalky-ness to it that I dislike. I find coke zero to be okay. Ikura is always fun to eat!

Hmmm...the smell is rather pungent and smells like a slightly rotten food. Hence, many are turned off before even trying it. And the taste is rather hard to describe...it's a bean taste, I guess (as one would expect, I suppose). What people don't like about actually eating it is the strange, slimy texture. One good way to be introduced to it is to try a natto onigiri, then move on to natto by itself if it wasn't too bad.

Yes; there are natto onigiri, and an Italian classmate was eating one that seemed to only have a seaweed filling (I can't at the moment recall what it's called, however). There may be others, but mostly they have either some sort of fish or their eggs, it seems!
