First off im amateur muay thai fighter in cali. just fought my fight and did the dance. its called wai kru. its used as a sign of RESPECT and thanks to your gym and coaches. but ive also heard its to worship buddha and shit lol. but ya. pros and amateur can do. depends on promoters and commision. Buakaw won this fight, it shouldn't have been a draw. However this was 3 years ago, and petrosyan was only 21 and just a kid during this fight and was inexperienced. Petro had been fighting only mid level Europeans and then was given this fight and his inexperience against top level competition showed. However now, petro would beat buakaw. Petro has improved tremendously in the 3 years since this fight, and looks unbeatable. Now petro is not inexperienced vs top competition would beat buakaw

True, Petrosyan and Souwer are the two best. Those with a carefull eye would notice Buakaw has gotten worse since that time too. His fanboys would scream sacrilege at the mere notion of it, but it's true. He's using the clinch and throws more and more against strong fighters. Holtzken gave him a real hard time this year, and if Holtzken hadn't made the mistake of walking into all those frontkicks, he'd have defeated Buakaw.

@V13t5ta It`s Muay Thai! It`s a WMC worldchampionship fight. Buakaw won 2006 over Johmod with a TKO in the 2:nd round. Petrosyan is challenging Buakaw in this fight. It begins with a Ram Muay then it is a 5 rounds bout. The reason they don`t use elbows is because it is forbidden in Sweden where the fight took place.

@V13t5ta u know elbows arent exactly as safe to use as people think. MMA fighters usually opt to use Hooks instead of elbows because of the better range and power hooks have. thats not to say elbows are bad, they are awesome on the ground but hooks are usually better standing up. muay thai isnt even muay thai anymore really. all their punches are from boxing now a days but that made it better actually. MMA was the best thing that could happen to combat sports.

@theacempire their is a short and long version of Ram muay. its a traditional dance to show respect to their trainer and upponent, every fighter does not have their own dance but it can be a little different from gym to gym

A mio parere l'unico che si è venduto è buakaw ragazzi,con tutto il rispetto verso petrosian...ma non c'è paragone!!avete mai visto una finale di k1 tipo quella del 2004...guardatela e capirete... penso che buakaw in questo match dia il 50 o al massimo il 60%.

Ammetto anche che in questi ultimi 2 anni buakaw si è ''fermato'' nel senso che non ha piu vinto il k1. penso però che sia uno dei piu grandi fighter nei 70 kg

It's called Ram Muay. It's a traditional dance before a Muay Thai fight. It's usually considered religious so usually only Thai's do it. But you can earn a little more respect from that Thai's if you do it anyways even if you aren't Thai or Buddhist

wai khru ram muay isnt religious. If anything it involves more of the general southeast asian mythology. You learn the wai khru from ur techers and u perform it in honor of them. Its also believed to ward off evil spirts
