  • loved this show growing up, wish they would still show it on tvland or something

  • I absolutely LOVE this show...my dad got me addicted to it. And Roy is my favorite!!

  • This is my favorite show ever. I have all 6 1/2 seasons on DVD. I watch them often. . . yes, I have no life!

  • I love nasty nurses.

  • I became an EMT in 1979, worked on rescue ambulance, became a Paramedic in 1983. Even usef a biophone radio just like they used...did pretty much all those things...the show had excellent technical advisory. Best part of my early career...I worked out of a 1980 Chevrolet Suburban ambulance just like the one in this clip! Had the biggest engine Chevy ever made.

  • Johnny was hot

  • 1:09 was suspension really that soft back then? look how many times that thing bounces

  • Jonman come on man when thry strt using gloves hiv is prolly 25 yrs old

  • Gloves people! GLOVES!!!!

  • 0:57 "Why were you being so nasty?" -- "I was being nasty, wasn't I?"

  • It's still astounding to think that paramedics were something new then. Before this ambulance drivers had no qualifications in even first response!

My paramedic friend showed me his meds bag in the truck last weekend. It's huge! Imagine what it was like when they were still figuring out procedures and techniques.

  • Did you guys catch the part where the doc instructs the paramedic to give the patient "livacane"? Who does that during a heart attack?

  • @robcorral777

Dr. Brackett ordered Lidocaine because the patient was in V tach. They couldn't defibrillate (countershock) him because he was fully conscious. Lidocaine is a medication for treating abnormal heart rhythms. They were trying to get him out of the V tach, which is an unstable abnormal heart rhythm, into something more stable like a sinus rhythm.

  • Love those 70's nylons!!!

  • wow, I am doing my E.M.T.-B class chief said to look this show up cause he watched it when he was younger, what a hoot, the acting WOW,lol.... I love it! lol

  • Roy was hot

  • I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THE CHEVY SUBURBAN AMBULANCE!!!!!!!!!

  • I AM GLAD I WAS A KID IN THE EARLY 1970'S,THOSE DAYS WERE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • EMS has changed SO MUCH since then, even though this is a show - it reflects how they did it back then

  • Wow what a trip back in time, did the US really look that good back in the 70s?

  • LA gets cold?? i didnt know that

  • @orihimeinoue246 Haha Its so funny!!

  • Since when a gang of nurses just stand outside.

  • @Anothercoilgun back in the 70's there were gangs of nurses on every corner.

  • I love how john trys to get the girl...And ..FAILS!

  • is this one of the first episodes? They look so young

  • Must be from the pilot...

  • @Sincopare No this is in the first season its a really good Episodes you should check it out ill try to get the name for you..

  • I wish nurses still dressed like that!! (only the female ones of course)

  • Big fan of this show since I grew up in LA. Funny thing is that up til today alot of that's remains the same. The LA County FD protocol for paramedic rescues still require the squad unit to follow the ambulance with 1 paramedic aboard. Many FD's followed the LA County example based on this show!

  • 22 cal? where's clint eastwood when you need him.

  • Paramedics didn't wear gloves in those days.

  • if you did apply defib, then the patient would either fall unconscious or it would hurt like hell

  • OK, it was the 70's l

  • omg get over it,it's a tv show of course people know that.

  • Obviously Dr. Brackett forgot he was obviously conscious to relate to them he was having chest pain. But you DO shock someone with c/p in V-Tach now it's called synchronized cardioversion, same as a defib just a lower energy level. Didn't have that in the early 70's though...

  • She was being NASTY... and I'd love to do the NASTY with her.

  • i wasnt very old when this was on mom used to watch it but i loved it i wish they would put it back on nik at night

  • nik at night has had shit for the last few years.

  • this is from the first season. OMG how young they both were!

  • 1970 rescue squad

  • man look how clean the LA streets were back then. They look like shit now.

  • To be fair it wasn't the streets of Los Angeles City. This show was based on Los Angeles County, and all the smaller cities within the county.

  • @warrior350es thats because we were still being paid to rebuild the world then. Now they just hate us for it and we have an apatite for spending that can't be afforded.

  • aww man!! it stops too soon lol!! i wanna see the whole episode lol!! its a very good episode...

  • good show.

  • Please don't make any dumb comments because most paramedics in my region are males and I'm pretty sure it was the same back then. CHECK YOUR FACTS!!

  • The show began on January 15, 1972

  • you are a dipstick

  • @zebco2 no dip!

  • It may be a junky old truck by todays standards....but it was state of the art in 1970....this show was spinoff of Adam-12, and most paramedics both then and now are men

  • 1971 or 1972

  • The Communication and equipment are so out dated compared to today!!!-But its a great show

  • 1971

  • @zebco2 Actually, Emergency! premiered in January 1972.

  • i thought they were a squad

  • The units started out being 'rescue units' that meant anything from firefighters 'down' to accidents, entrapments, etc. Then durng the late 60's(early 70's on the show) paramedics were basically invented. The squad became an EMS unit as well.
