Aw, this is GREAT! Truly have not heard this since August 1974 on WCFL-Chicago. Shoulda been a HUGE hit. Also sounds like they reworked the strings for "Convoy" a coupla years later.
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS TREASURE FROM THE CASABLANCA LABEL (7" - 0007, 1974). PROPS TO LINDA BLAIR - CHECK OUT SIMON STOKES & THE NIGHTHAWKS WITH "VOODOO WOMAN" - DAVEDJ
obviously, ganymede, motelcalifornia has never seen the Exorcist, wherein Reagan (as played by Linda Blair) is playing with a ouiji board and meets Captain Howdy, which is how she is possessed in the first place.
Breat Retrieve! Heard this during summer of 1974 on AM Radio. Saw the Exorcist in August of that year in Fredericktown Mall MD! Thanks for sharing this song!!
@45sGuy Hey 45sGuy! Would you be willing to part with one of those extra copies of this great cult-type classic? I've been looking for a copy for more than 35 years and I'd be forever in your debt if we could swing some kinda deal. Let me know, OK?
THanks so much for posting....was beginning to believe I had imagined it.....thanks!!

@ladyarchivist : In the book and movie it's a demon being called Pazuzu. It calls itself the Devil for dramatic effect.

Cool song! I have several promo 45's of this one on Casablanca. I think the song was a take on THE EXORCIST. Rock On Simon!

Actually, yes. In the movie, Peyton (Linda Blair) played with a Ouija Board, and the 'spirit' channelled through the board was named CAPTAIN HOWDY
