Those morons does not even know what they are doing and by doing such thing they start beliving that they are doing great job... FUCK YOU IDIOTS... You are the biggest enemies of humanity... And unfortunatly you are also doing brain wash of other people who do not know the actual thing.

  • Fuck you idiots!!! Stop being hypocrite no one really knows any thing about tabla so stop pretending as if you are an expert. Just stop the worthless trys to impress others by giving comments as if you know every thing. Cause WE KNOW how much your tiny little miserable mind is CAPABLE to know..... Got it???!!!

  • that. was. sick.

  • 1:36

  • @Glivity what??

  • UNIQUE!!

  • right around 2:30 they just start groovin!! awesome

  • This is way sweet.

  • Comparing to a real drum, tabla sounds just tiny and too intelectual

  • Comment removed

  • Before you enter public domain, try to learn how to behave and communicate (maybe you have not attended an elementary school yet ?) So far it seems your mind is quite ill and disturbed ...

  • sorry about the rude words.

    peace

  • Seriously, though, what do you mean by a "real" drum? All good music (i.e. music that represents actual talent and not a formulaic way to make money such as much pop music today) is intellectual and soulful at the same time. You have to apply your mind and learn the skills before you can free it and play with the soul.

  • By "real drum" I mean a drum that has a powerful sound and impact and makes something inside you moving. Tabla is quite a new instrument and was cut in these two pieces in about 18th century from pakhawaj-like drum. It has very tiny sound and very complicated structures are applied on it with great skills. Yet, unless you exactly know what's going on (and very few people do) , it is not easy to appreciate and it does not give very archetypal drum feelings. Mridangam for example is more powerful

  • Interesting, thanks. Few people appreciate instruments on their true level unless they actually play the instrument. I think for people who have a well-developed musical palate, the tabla is easy to appreciate. The skill required to play it is impressive and it seems to fit well with a diverse range of instruments (for example, Zakir's recent recording with Bela Fleck), and it's an engaging solo instrument. I admit that the Japanese drum adds a low dynamic and power that the tabla cannot match.

  • what exactly is the definitoon of a "real" drum to you? A whole Tama Star Classic Set?

    This is ancient beyond comparison.

  • What the hell does religion have anything to do with this video? Seriously FUCK you guys!

    THIS ROCKS!

  • This is a fine example of cross-cultural percussion, with the Tabla (the standard Hindu hand drums) contrasted with a Nagadōdaiko (a Japanese barrel-drum with full-grain animal-hide heads).

  • mindblowing!!!!!!!!!! God bless

  • stop whining about race you bunch or shitheads. you are all super morons.

  • Idiots ..fucking idiots ! Music does not have a religion. Its a legacy that has brought cultures together. so fuck off you bigots who cannot appreciate the art

  • @m1st3rh

Well Said... Coud Not Agree with you More.

  • @m1st3rh

Well Said... Could Not Agree with you More.

  • Actually, Zakir told me personally, his birth mother is Hindu, his father is Muslim. He is his own person. A great drummer in his own right. Why judge anyone?

  • Stop preaching others that he is Muslim. He is an Indian, end of story!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Vikrant0Singh

You *can* be muslim and indian... ones a religion, the others a nationality!

  • @Vikrant0Singh nope. he is japanese

  • @Vikrant0Singh um lol... being muslim and being indian are two different things, that's the most foolish thing you could say, why dont you stop 'preaching' to others that hes an indian then? retard

  • @Vikrant0Singh lets take it farther. he is a human being. and a very good human being with amazing talent.

  • @Vikrant0Singh

    Good on you M8......

    AGREED 100%

  • Comment removed

  • @Vikrant0Singh He is a muslim you sikh fuck.

  • @alihammadshah He is a human. Religion is unimportant when it comes to music.

  • VERY POWERFUL!!! ENERGETIC!

  • Through music we become one.

  • Mr. Twicebake.....to understand Isalam, you need a sharp mind, intelligence and a clear heart. just to let you know mr zakir hussain is muslim and he is the greatest musician as you can see. So now the way you judge or understand things is a function of your ability of understanding ...

  • "mr zakir hussain is muslim and he is the greatest musician as you can see."

He is a great musician like many others from all cultures and beliefs. His being muslim has nothing to do with his musicianship unless their is hidden book of tabla in the Qur'an. My sharp mind and intelligence tells me this is not so.

  • his being muslim has that much to do with it so u can understand islam is not what u hear from people and just judge them. that is what i was telling u when judging someone´s comment about Islam would band music...

  • "when judging someone´s comment about Islam would band music... "

There is not one kind of Islam just as there is not one kind of any religion. One can make a general assumption of stereotypical course of action but each of us sees our beliefs in our own way. There are those hard liners in every group that want to control everything. Music walks right through those mental barriers.

  • the most beautiful performanc ever...masha allah zakir saheb

  • Zakir has been a gods chosen agent for spreading the Indian percussion skills to the rest of the world for years now!

  • divine plays thru its chosen .....it take me to deeper ...deeper levels of my conciousness.....

  • crank this vid up full blast - best way to start a Sunday.

    nice one for posting mate

  • かっこいbahalおもしろいだよjaleb

bad ass :) loved it 5 stars

  • Both Artists seem to have gone in a trance.

  • O MY GOD, This is unbelievable ! I have no words to describe/praise this performance of both artists. Its a Divine experience. Cannot thank you enough for this upload khalipon.

  • i agree.... our indian classical is awwsome.. its the base n its the top......if any body compare it... he is mentally ill....

  • I was just wodering, what we would have been without this since of beauty, giving us the capabality of creating something similar to this? we would have never taken the shape of life, life would have not existed, and there would have been no one to believe in god.

  • Thats exactly why a religion like Islam forbids music. because it grabs peoples emotions. for example, dumbasses like u

  • hahah.

  • no islam never forbids music u freaky mullah

  • lol fail

  • Islam doesn't band music completly. Music containing vulger lyrics, nuditity and instrument containing too much string and wind instrument is haram as it captures ones heart and deters an individual from his faith. Thats why in music, all most all the pop stars and famous musicians are living in a dog eat dog world despite having all the money, no one has inner peace!! Its nothing new that ppl like u are slaying Islam wit out any true knowledge at all!

  • It cannot be true, or else the Azaan would not have a melody.

  • "Thats exactly why a religion like Islam forbids music. because it grabs peoples emotions."

So Islam is a religion against emotion?

They must shun poetry and all art in general.

Sounds more like atheism to me.

  • its not forcing u to stop listening to music. u misinterpereted me. a good example is how suicidal people are associated with rock music

  • "a good example is how suicidal people are associated with rock music "

    Bare assertion on your part.

Cite the study that shows the factual relationship. There is a lot of rock music that is quite religious. Does this mean that religion is associated with suicide? This must also mean that morning prayers are not to be sung. It is distracting and takes ones focus off ones religion. It must be banned.

  • thats exactly why people hate islam

  • Plz do not mix both

  • @bestofrohan what do you know about islam, you uneducated piece of trash, dont go around talking crap

  • awesome

  • 0:14 is the best moment to start this video from

  • that was inspiring! a beautiful composition! they really came together !

  • LOL at the Japanese guys face at the end...its like he came to the full realization of how awesome that was!! hahahahah

    seriously, that was incredible

  • Awesome! The East Fusion!

  • dude, whats wrong with u?

  • I like especially the part from 2:17 to the end. It's the part when the japanese drummer unleashes his power!

  • excellent piece of work! and i love the amazed look on the japanese drummer's face at the end ;)

  • good job to whoever miked the drums... that taiko is easily 50 times louder than the tabla.

beautiful mixture of cultures... interesting juxtaposition of a man chillin on cushions with a shirtless warrior standing stock still until he begins to play.

  • Excellent, i wish i could play like Zakir... but u know what they say? "Don't wish for it, work for it." AND LMAO @ just 0.58 - 0.59 sec, as a clip for one sec is shown on something random.

  • I am at harmony. The sounds of the drums dance together in a hypnotic ballet. Never touching but glide around each other. Peace.

  • Lo mejor que vi...........

  • WOW!! What a magnificent blend of cultural instruments. Very intricate ending!

  • mind blowing!!

  • dear khalipon

    私はインドのです。私は多くの日本人と日本語が大好きです。私は非常に多くのビデオをいただき、ありがとうございます

  • absolutley brilliant

  • what does that japanese word mean...the very last spoken in this video...khoreva or whatever...that's probably the most common japanese word i've heard after 'hai'...it's EVERYWHERE

    btw nice playing

  • hai means just "yes"....

but there are no "korewa" in this video..

    i listen three times but..

    thanks for comment anyway

  • i mean RIGHT at the end...at 5:08

  • "kore wa..." its incomplete, it just means "this(is)"...and then it cuts out

  • It is a start of the following television program.

Perhaps, it is a situation in which a man hears "What is this?". And, it cuts in the part of "This". "This" pronounces "korewa" in Japanese.

  • it means 'this is'

  • @amarnamriju : i think you mean korewa, and it means because/this is/this reason i think but yeah, it wasn't in the interview.

  • @amarnamriju

Yeah, I know what you mean, I heard it too. I believe it means "this."

  • @amarnamriju I believe it's 'kore wa', which means 'this is'

  • woohoow :) uplifting

  • excellent

  • Does anyone know the name of this piece.

  • wonderful...

combining two very differnt drums. The technically challenging tabla and the taiko, which requires great strength

  • Brilliant!

  • nice one

  • i loveeee mix clture music..!

  • Magic

  • It looks like the Kodo drum uses a Neumann SM69 stereo microphone and the tabla uses a Shure 57. It sounds great.

I never heard the Kodo drummer hit the mic.

  • he has so much patience! he measures ever beat before playing!

  • magical

  • I think there are certainly parts that were rehearsed or known before the performance. Most of zakir's playing was not exact part-playing though, for sure. I wonder how much of the japanese drumming heard here is traditional japanese music. I don't know what japanese traditional music sounds like, but that sounded very swing-band like in rhythm. Only problem is the bayan (bass tabla) is drowned out by the taiko.

  • I think it was all rehearsed. Obviously the patterns on the taiko are much simpler so it's harder to tell, but it doesn't sound like much traditional taiko that I've heard.

  • bravissimo !!!!!!!!!!!!
