it aint rocket science, its a simple equation. pay through the nose for the real thing or save two thirds of the price for a knock off version.

make the diference a matter of say two or three quid and the pirates are priced out of the market... no brainer.

oh yeah, 1 film sells on five or six formats, dvd is but one format, so dont feel sorry for distributors as their revenue is massive ok.

they only cost 20 pence each. buy em in bulk and its even less.

the dvd format needs a serious overhall it has to be said. if you cant beat em, join em, as knock off nigels are a market force to be reconed with. if real dvds were say seven quid each, why buy a knocked off version.

It's a tough industry to work in, so we should look after it. In anycase, they only get 10% from DVD sales. I worked in the games industry, and our company only got $10 out of the $60 price tag  a game is sold for in the shops, the shops take the biggest cut, which is why they can afford to sell stuff in the sales and still make money. When you don't buy, you make studios suffer, not the shops as they will sell something else.

ok thats reasonable, so when disney sell on the internet a dvd at £1(10% of the full price) and 50p each on top for overheads(i know its quite a lot but they deserve it), then i will buy.

Sure don't buy crap movies, but PIXAR and other great film makers do their best and put alot of hard work in, so buy the films when they are bargains, but buy them if you love them, and give these people their pay. Sure the fat cats at the top make millions, but by pirating films, they don't suffer, only the movies will and the artists who work so hard to make their movies.

The point is, if people pirate films, then studios, will not be able to continue to spend massive budgets over several years to produce the best movies, and eventually people will not make films because there will be no money. I know film makers who can't get budgets, and if studios won't make money in the first place, they won't give anyone money to make movies.

Tip: Get DVD rips or, better yet, blue ray rips. Cams (Ones recorded by camera) are often mediocre quality at best. Personally I'd recommend getting a 90min movie at approx 1.2-1.6Gb. 700mb well encoded ones are good, but I'd only rate as "Ok", which is fine if you're not overly enthusiastic about it.
