The electricity is moved through the wood because of the moisture, this same moisture escaping the wood because of the power is what makes the buzzing sound, when the wood could no longer stand the charge, the arc occurred because of the moisture that was in the air.

thats cause you needed to put it on the main wire. Not 3rd wires. you have to have the stick allowing the two or more wires to connect to create the phase. thats when things start to happen. If you ever try again throw over the two bottom wires. the top wire is to automatically turn off the energy connection to the grid. so dont throw it over that one lolz!

exactly correct - wood is a pretty good (not great) insulator- damp green wood will just heat up like a resistor till the moisture gets cooked out of it- then it starts to burn. as soon as you have enough carbon you've given the electricity a path to follow and FOOMP!!!

this is cool to watch - but as a power company employee - I have to ask you kids in the US to resist the temptation to emulate these stunts. Trust me- this is extremely dangerous stuff.
