Great sound texture ! I believe the Solaris could reach this dimension and width (with even more flexibility) of course I haven't compared them (who knows one day maybe ! )
this is ridiculous, honestly mindblowing. may I ask what you used to record it? the pure, glassy quality of the instrument comes across like a kick in the eye, the sound quality alone is amazing.
That is one massive sound. I really want one, but they are so expensive that I would have to give up two months of full-time salary for it, and I only work part-time, so it will never happen.
@omissis75 If I worked full time, yea, but I only work part time so it would take me 4 months of my salary to buy one of these, hehe, but yeah, I live in Norway, salaries here are probably higher than any other country...
beautiful, I do get so tired of people moaning about how they can't afford real analogue synths, idiots, the lot of them........beautiful piece of music by the way.....
Love the CS80 and so pleased you have one doing what it's meant to do. Make noise/music. Fabulous. I'm off to twiddle with the softsynth version and see if I can get that Dr WHo bassline sound nailed. Funky1 and 2. But just can't get it modified right. Too many things to twiddle with:-)
Glad to see that you have a Legendary Synth still up and running. I hope you make more Videos of this demos, I personally like what CS80 is capable of...
it's amazing that you found one of these great beasts. but i heard it can heat up a room and wonder as in you should know, can it? thanks if you answer.
Greatest synth ever made and this video demos that very well. I have a CS50 which also has very nice sounds - for those of you who can't afford a CS80. I run it through Eventide effects and into a high end converter. The other models can be bought for a whole lot less and they do have that characteristic of sound that go through all the CS range. You just can't get as big a sound as the CS80.
The comment from classwar09 is unreal. This guy, CountlovE, has the best collection of videos and sounds on this website. He has talent and just because you are a self pitty fool then it shouldn't mean you slate him for his hard work, you don't even know him. Yes, many spooilt bratts get what they want, but he's not one of them. CountlovE is awesome for his sounds and you might be too if you got of you butt and worked hard to get similar equipment instead of wasting your time being negative.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
must be nice...us working class musicians are relegated to softsynths...i wish they handed out equipment based on talent instead of your parents sending you to a posh school. too many amazing artists in basements scraping together sound however they can while ppl let these dream synths gather dust as a collectors item. I dont mean anything personal to the original poster. i dont know him, but i'll bet he dont wear a blue collar. if i sound jealous its cause i am. feels bad man :(
@classwar09 That is totally not the case, and you are completely wrong. I work my ass off to buy the synths I have come in contact with over the years. You should stop with the self pitty. When people were selling their synths for software I started buying them up when they were going for cheaper prices than what they are now.
@CountlovE well if that is the case you are the exception, not the rule. i know it was a shitty comment to make, i was in a bad mood that day, however, like i said, the exception, not the rule....and everyone THINKS they work their ass off, even the ppl i am talkin about.
@classwar09 I get your point, but I am what you might call a 'blue collar'- as a courier in the UK. I saved up and bought mine out of money I earned- although admittedly it was in 1996 and I got it for £1100 from a classic synth specialist in Staffordshire, before prices for this instrument headed for the stratosphere (I could see that was coming so I got mine early). Fair point though, I certainly don't make enough use of mine at present, but I would rather die than ever part with it.
@classwar09 i personally know some "working musicians" or "working class musicians" and the bottom line of many musical-related conversations i entertain with 'em often turns on the topic that sounds much like "i'm working my ass off on a daily basis just to see the talentless daddy-backed ass overtake". this is sad, and annoying. you can't afford first class equipment? figure your way out with what you have.
This sounds incredible. Surely the most amazing electronic instrument ever made. How many other electronic instruments make you smile & cry like this thing?! If my balls drop tonight (lottery ball of course) I'm hunting one of these down along with someone who knows how to tune it! I'd consider my life somewhat more complete with a CS80 in my sonic arsenal ;-)
@totto210 sorry toe,but that monstrosity, came about in "76" it was not released into the western world until "78" so that would make it part of the "70's" not the greedy "80". but hey the "80's" can claim the "DX-7" all it's own.
I bought the arturia v collectrion a few weeks ago, is it possible to get this sound with the software CS80V? I've tried pressing in the patches 4 and 3 which are in the same position as yours and changing the envelopes and added vco modulation but i'm way off, I can't get that epic epic horn sound :(
You need to pick up a Kurzweil Midiboard for the poly aftertouch. That is the only way, and the poly aftertouch is 80 percent of the sound with the filter control. Also the flute patch (Feet 1) needs to be at Step 16 and brass (Feet 2) at 5 1/2.
@omissis75 flute setting has level amount for aftertouch. The brilliance aftertouch is coming from the brass patch. I start off with flute only, then mix over to brass.
Thank You! : )

The CS80 and JP8 are great but a DX7S is the ultimate synth. It has more power and sonic versatility than these two put together.
