  • :) I am shocked as I have always done it (unfolding) the wrong way ! Lol :)

Back and front wheels simultaneously , then handlebars as the last bit.

It's faster though...I'll stick to it

  • a beautiful piece of engineering...I bought my Brompton during a trip to London 2 years ago, and it was the best purchase I have ever made.

  • i want to buy this so bad,, Any Good hight quality bike like this outhere?,,

Dahon- BARCELONA Citizen Bike -Bike Friday..?

  • Best bike ever! Brompton bike rocks! :)

  • This looks like a great bike.

  • This video alone sold me my brompton 3 years ago, and have been happy every since.

  • Складывается хорошо, надеюсь, это не единственное его преимущество

  • folding bike? beat STRIDA if you can! it folds very fast and neat!

  • @kulaspyro The Strida folds fast and neat, the only problem is that you can't go very far. I can't ride it as I'm 1,90m and that's too big for the Strida. Nice design, but not really a bicycle.

  • ducklere, thanks for your comment. I figured it out eventually, it was because my bike has a catch that has to be released before you can release the back wheel. Don't know if this is a new innovation.

  • Bought one last week and its amazing. We have a bicycle theft problem at my place of work so my brompton goes into my locker and not the bike shed. Problem solved :-)

  • I've just got one second hand on Ebay and this vid is a great pointer to folding/unfolding technique. Works great in my living room but I await the snow to clear.....!

  • Just bought a brompton and managed to unfold it. But now back wheel won't fold back for some reason. He makes that look so easy with just a flick. Could it be because my bike is new? The guy in the shop managed it quite easily too.

  • @richardwilson1234 are you remembering to turn the front wheel slightly to get it out of the way?

  • He's quicker than me at folding a Brompton - although he did design it!

I've only had mine a few weeks, but it's probably the greatest thing I own. The build quality is second to none.

  • I haven't been without a bike since I first learned to ride. In my opinion, the Brompton is by far the finest bicycle ever created. The design is pure genius. It's just so utterly practical and efficient. Thank you, Andrew Ritchie.

  • I got my first Brompton the other day. I LOVE it! Quick, nippy little thing. Unfortunately I can't fold/unfold as quick as that though... :)

A high-quality piece of kit. I spent a bit extra and got the titanium option.

  • I recently purchased a Brompton. Yes, they're expensive, but there's obvious quality on display, and it's easy to tell where the money goes. The bike feels reassuringly sturdy, it's quick as hell, and it's ingenious design means it can be taken pretty much anywhere: wonderful.

  • he makes it look so simple it tales me so much longer and i always managed to dislodge my chain! *sigh*

  • When first got my Brompton I never folded it the same way twice and used to end up getting in all sorts of tangles. Don't rush - study the correct order and practice it slowly. Folding and unfolding will become a natural smooth flowing action which you won't even think about after a little practice. If I have to use my now tatty old car I nearly always have my Brompton in the boot and have had so much pleasure from it being ready in 15 seconds and available unlike a non folding bike left behind.

  • @1981LLL: I used to drop the chain at least every other un-fold, but learned how to avoid that. Just before the final un-fold step (swinging the rear end out from under), hand-crank the pedal forward about 1/6 to 1/4 revolution. Chain stays on 100% now.

  • Does anyone know what the music is playing in the background ?

    Thanks

  • Just to clarify, is that a grand quid? Or a grand dollars?

  • @cookman283 a grand is £1000

  • @vibble83 I think you mistook the question, I asked is it $1000 (dollars) or £1000 (quid/pounds)

But damn, thats steep either way.

  • I make that 15 seconds to fold up a Brompton. How cool is that?

  • i can fold and unfold a brompton in 22 seconds :D

  • My Bromton's goes everywhere I go beit work or holiday. You get amazing design, fantastic quality and it's made in the UK. You can buy cheaper but chances are you will get something inferior which will not last (mines 9 years old) and could be dangerous. I'm not loaded but making a few sacrifices to get the Brompton was the best decision I could have made.

  • best bike i have ever bought..... simple

  • good !!

  • 1000$ for a quality handmade british bike is worth every penny

    you don't need a 100~300$ bike rack

not counting the health benefits, time saved, enjoyment factor

last time i checked a heart bypass operation costs $60,000

so this is not expensive at all

  • @emforty2 and you can take it on buses, trains and planes

  • @emforty2 The last time I checked the bypass operation was free in England and you could just lean your handsome 300$ city bike against a wall with no racks involved.

  • best folding bike design ever. where can i buy this?? .xXx.

  • wow!

  • I'd consider that a grand very well spent. Does anyone know the composer of the background music?

  • I have a cheaper model with bigger wheels, but this is the best model... pity that it is expensive

  • By the master himself!

  • Interesting. During the unfold I was getting the front wheel on the left side of the rear wheel and turning the handlebar to hold the main frame together when clamping it. But I tried it again and see it's not necessary. It's great once you get it there, but it's a little awkward to swing out the front wheel so that it goes to the left of the rear wheel.

  • I love my bike! :)

  • Nice bike :)

  • A work of genius.

  • Ive met him because i live really near, the factory is in brentford and he was folding and unfolding it just out side one of the big doors

  • Most people seem to push the seatpost down before collapsing the stem - probably because it's quicker than moving from the rear of the bike (after rotating the cranks) to the front, then to the rear again. The demo shows the "official" way to do it.
