you know, I don't have many of their albums, but maybe I just didn't appreciate their lyrics enough. this song reaches deep. I used to mainly like them because they made me laugh, but ....wow.
I love this song and Distant Shores. I'm not Christian, but I can identify with the central theme: Losing yourself, wanting to find yourself again, and eventually doing so through whatever means. In this case, God.
Every New Day has one ending. Then, on the last studio album "The End Is Near" they created the song On Distant Shores, which is entirely different from Every New Day.
Then at their final show, they recorded THIS version of Every New Day which replaces the ending with the ending from On Distant Shores.
@KingofHearts542542 On Distant Shores was not actually a continuation of this song per se. It was the last song on FIF's last album. The song they played last at every show was Every New Day, and they wanted to make a connection to that song, so they used a similar theme and the same ending to finish off The End is Near. But they both compete for my favorite FIF song ever, and I'm not sure which I like better.
@kimberey151 in fact, the reason the ending of this song is in On Distant Shores is that this song finished every Five Iron Frenzy concert after it was released and every Five Iron Frenzy fan knew it by heart. It was a fitting ending to their final album.
@kimberey151 from they time they wrote this song they used Every New Day to end their concerts. On Distant Shores is the end of their last album, thats why they threw this on at the end, it was their signature sign off. and it fitted PERFECTLY at the end of the song.
A lot of bands I'd rather just listen to the CD and don't care about seeing them live. Five Iron Frenzy is one band that I really wish I could have seen live. I have both their live albums and they're so completely awesome..
I've seen them live, they put on a fun show. I'm sad they broke up because these guys were actually a good band that was Christian instead of the normal very bad Christian bands we have today. There is a big difference. These guys were Christians making good music for sake of creating good music not to give "a Christian alternative" to something else. Really liked them.
yeah i have almost every FIF cd and love almost every song :) i'm so blessed i got to see them twice while i was growing up and was in a youth group at church. i went to college and my roommate and i always used to jam out to these guys. now that i've gotten a little bit older (26) i still listen to this song and it just inspires me so much. and if you are ever going through a rough time pop this song in and it'll give your life such a jump start too. God wrote this song through them 100%.
A very powerful song, and you combined it with equally powerful images; awesome job! FIF's farewell concert was the best I've ever been to and I echo the sentiment of many others on here-I hope they'll do a reunion tour in the future.
I only wish I had gotten to know them before they broke up, then I've could've seen them in concert.
A lot of bands aren't worth seeing in concert (you might as well listen to the CD cause it costs less, usually), but I can tell that it would've been awesome to see Five Iron Frenzy from listening to their live CDs and I wish I coulda been there.
Amen to that. I was once really sad and hopeless, and I listened to this song and it made me happy again. Five Iron Frenzy was a great band, and I hope they get together again one day.
One of the best songs ever written of all mankind. It is up there with the great hymns of old. With so much depth. Great job on the Video. This is a great live version of the song as well. It was a great concert to be a part of. God bless!
i have to agree with you. this song makes the Holy Spirit jump in me. i dont know of any other fast paced song like this that could bring me to tears. but it really expresses the ultimate love of Jesus.
I'm an atheist but I love this song for some reason.

@XtortionB3ar Why's that?
Lamefoureyes 1 week ago
@Lamefoureyes It's hopeful. Anyone from any religious or non-religious background can be inspired by hope. Plus I just enjoy the music.

Are you ready to die?
Have u lied? Have u stolen? Jesus said if you look at a woman with lust you have committed adultery with here in your heart. have u done that?
If God judge’s u by the Ten Commandments will u be innocent or guilty? Heaven or Hell? Does this concern you?
Do u need a Savior from your sins? And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Jesus came, lived a sinless life, died (for our sins) and rose again on the third day.

Totally agree. I'm no longer a christian(at least in the traditional sense), but growing up this song was so meaningful to me - still is.

Distant Shores is a newer version of this song. Every New Day was written first and then they used the ending from it for Distant Shores.
