  • It was all not quite so sweet and romantic. June was a manipulator extraordinaire,and Anais was a poseur. Ms. Nin's diaries were not the intimate, spontaneous record one assumes: she re-wrote them constantly for effect. The movie is an incredibly beautiful, erotic piece of fiction, as Anais intended when she wrote this "unexpurgated" version of her diary of these years.

    But Anaïs was from Cuba, and she still conserved some reminiscences of her mother-country ... (In fact, in the movie she dances Tango and Rumba, for instance).

    These all text to say that I'm not sure about their hairstyle.

This scene I have played so many times over on my DVD and in the back of my mind and have some of my friends in on it as well. Thanks for posting, it's one of my all time favorite period piece movies. Gosh I'm so in love with these two!!!!!

June Miller, the wife of American writer Henry Miller ('Tropic of Cancer'; 'Tropic of Capricorn') had an amazing sensual impact on Anais Nin, causing in her a volcanic sexual awakening. Nin's diaries are wonderfully accessible reading. She also wrote erotica. Try 'Delta of Venus'. Truly a woman before her time. Richard E Grant is brilliant as her staid banker husband Hugo in the film.

  • Sexy talking in English being translated into Chinese subtitles that are meaningless at all.Believe me, I am a Chinese.I look at the subtitles and find it not fitting into the meaning of what was being spoken! How lousy is the translation! Spoilt the movie! Arghhhhhh!
