I think those who think this is a gay song are kind of missing the point. First of all, even after he falls for the man it talks about him making love with a "girlie" so he's clearly not TOTALLY gay. It's a song entirely about escaping labels, about feeling things neither you nor anyone else really understand, but instead of people being helpful, your whole world is turned upside down.
