Don't know why madness dislike this album so much? They never play any of these tracks live, which is a shame. Heard this on vinyl the first time it came out and was hooked, still am. Not a 'polished turd' as Suggs once remarked.

Maybe it's because I'm much older now, but I find I listen to Mad Not Mad more than I do the more youth-orieted Madness albums of the previous years. An overlooked gem.

The whole point Madness (at least up to the split) was that they didn't replicate much what they had done before. It's too easy to keep churning out the same old sound. Mad Not Mad may not be a masterpiece, but it had some very good stuff it, especially 'Coldest Day'. For those who wanted them stuck in 1980, move on.

What's Gaz on about? Have been listening to Madness for nearly 30 years and MNM is an album I go back to time and time again. OK, it's of it's time but most of the tunes on this album are some of the hookiest 80's pop tunes I've ever heard.. am thinking White Heat, Mad Not Mad, Burning The Boats, Time and the jewel in the crown that is Coldest Day.

If you don't get on with 80's pop then fair enough - it's not for you - but I do, and I love this album! It certainly is NOT terrible!!

This is the worst shit they ever did, what are you all talking about! When Barso left they hired a bunch of sesson guys, and bought in the synths, and the result was fucking terrible!!! Don't get me, wrong, I love Madness, and the new album sounds aewsome, but this stuff was embarrasing! (with the exception of "Uncle Sam" maybe)
